Happy Monday!

Saturday I practiced my kickboxing class. Then I had the Walk to End Alzheimer's in the morning which was a good turnout and the weather was pretty decent. Sunday was my no workout day and this morning I did GS Chest & Tri's and I was happy that I was able to do all the push ups on my toes. :D

Today I go see an orthopedic doc about my hip so I'll let you know tomorrow how that went.

Enjoy the rest of your day!

Hello everyone. I had a great weekend. I attended Oprah's the Life You Want Weekend event in DC. I did not purchase tickets earlier this year when they went on sale. Last weekend a former coworker and friend contacted me about buying ticket of a mutual friend who couldn't go because her mom had to have surgery. I jumped at the opportunity. They were the cheapest seats but we received the same inspiration as those with expensive seats. The experience was amazing. Friday's event was all Oprah and Saturday included Mark Nepo, Elizabeth Gilbert author of Eat, Pray and Love. She was amazing. Rob Bell was awesome and Iyanla Vanzant was super as expected. It was a total of 3 other ladies that I was with and I knew 2 of them. I was thankful for the opportunity to go because I have been spending time thinking about what's next in my professional life and trying to focus more on happiness in all aspects and being thankful.

Brenda---congrats for walking for a great cause! The weather was beautiful here all weekend too. Keep me posted on your ortho appt.

This morning I again, practiced my kickboxing class for the retreat.

I had my ortho appt yesterday and this doc that I saw said there is a slight possibility that he might be able to do hip resurfacing. The neck of my hip is on the small side but he said if my bone density is good he would consider doing the resurfacing instead of the hip replacement. With the hip resurfacing they are able to preserve some of the joint and it's a quicker recovery and less chance of dislocation and can handle the impact workouts better. This morning I went for a bone density test and I will get the results back tomorrow. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I would still at some point need to get a full hip replacement but if I can prolong it for 10 more years that would be awesome. They checked my knees and thankfully they are fine. The pain I'm experiencing by my knee is stemming from my hip. While meeting with the doc, I quickly realized I'm not mentally ready for this. I thought I was but I'm not. I somehow need to deal with it but I'm not sure how at this point.

Tonight I meet with my client and his girlfriend who I'll also be training. I'm excited about that.

Hearty - what an amazing experience, that is so cool that you had the opportunity to go.

I don't stretch enough and I think my body is telling me that. I borrowed The Firm Power Yoga and two Pi-yo disc from someone so I did the yoga and Pi-Yo strong legs today. I never do yoga as I find it boring so I am trying to focus on something different.

Brenda- the resurfacing sounds like a good alternative plan.

Hi Ladies! Crazy week so far here. My weekend was pretty uneventful, which is how I tend to like them! Monday I was not feeling well, did not sleep well Sunday night,so I took it as a rest day. With this PiYo program I have not taken a rest day in a few weeks. I needed it. Yesterday was a Sculpt workout and today I worked my Core.

One of my friends recently lost about 50 pounds. I am so proud of her. She had gone through a yucky divorce and was a stress eater, so that's how it came on. Anyway, she has started a Couch to 5k program. Last week she asked me if I would be willing to run her 1st 5k with her. We picked one the weekend before Halloween (Freaky 5k). All proceeds benefit Special Olympics. She's excited and happy to have a goal to reach for. I am happy to help, but I quit running back in July when my ankles were starting to bother me! I'll be re-lacing up my shoes this weekend! :)

Brenda, I hope you can get some help for your hip. The re-surfacing does sound better, but I can imagine it's a lot to take in and think about. How did the client meeting go?

Hearty, congrats on being able to go to that Oprah event! How cool, sounded like an amazing time. How did you like the PiYo? ;)

Make it a great day~ Susan

Good Afternoon!

This morning I did GS back, shoulders, and bi's. I felt pumped after that and will probably have DOMS tomorrow. That's okay.

I just got the call back from the doc office and my bone density test is normal so I can go ahead with the hip resurfacing. I'm very happy about that. My next step is to get it scheduled. I'll be making that call this afternoon.

Hearty - I'm right there with you on not doing enough stretching. If you ever find a yoga workout that you don't get bored with let me know what it is so I can check it out.

Susan - That is awesome that your lost about 50lbs. She should be very proud of herself. At least you have about a month to get yourself back into running. That was very nice of you to run the race with her.

I have got to check out PiYo. Don't know much about it.

Enjoy the rest of your day!

I overslept but managed to squeeze in a 30 minute premix from low impact challenge.

Susan--I liked the pi-yo workout. It is very different from what I normally use and my hamstrings are sore.

Brenda--good news from the doctor. Glad you ended up seeing someone else to get another opinion.

This morning I practiced my Low Impact Interval Training class. I was stuffed up so I was getting out of breath fairly easy. :(

I have myself scheduled for surgery on Nov 6th. Anxious to not have to deal with the pain of the arthritis.

Hearty - at least got a 30 min workout in. I checked out Pi-Yo yesterday and seems like it might be pretty good.

I overslept again today but it was too late to even do a short workout. I will be up late helping DS with his science fair project so it's going to be a long night.

Brenda- They were able to get your surgery scheduled pretty soon. That's not bad at all.

Hi Ladies, today was the toughest PiYo workout int he series "Drench". And it was a soaker for certain. Tomorrow I start running again. :)

Brenda, that is good that they will be able to get you in so soon. What is the "down time" for that type of surgery?

Hearty, have fun on the Science project! I always get so mad at myself when I oversleep, but sometimes I think our bodies are just telling us we need it!

Enjoy your evening~

Today was 30 minutes of elliptical cardio followed by Pi-yo full body blast.

Susan'- I have heard great things about Drench. I think I'm at eventually purchase this series.

Hi Brenda.

Have a great weekend!

Hi there. Today was a 3 mile run/walk. Felt pretty good. I had read from other runners that PiYo helped their running ,I have to agree. I felt much stronger through my core. Saturday I plan I running again followed by PiYo buns. We have my husbands 30th High School reunion Saturday evening.

Looks like beautiful weather all weekend long! :) Enjoy!
