Buff Badgers Week of May 21st

Cathlete
Welcome back from the weekend:D. 3 weeks of school and 5 weeks til vacation. Do I sound excited????

Saturday was 45 minutes on the elliptical. This morning Chest, Shoulders and Triceps. My right upper back/lat area hurts today. I incorporated some stretching so hopefully it will get better.

DH to take our golden retriever to the vet over the weekend. He suddenly appeared sick. They suspect that he may have allergies. He was outside enjoying the spring weather which he likes to do. He started to appear lethargic, etc. He seems to be doing better now.

How many more weeks or days do your kids have left in school? My kids are dragging. My oldest has basically checked out.

Good morning, everyone! How bad can a weekend be when it includes new yellow wedge sandals ;) ? It was a good weekend. I couldn't get over the weather! Gorgeous! Friday I did High Step Training, Saturday my workout was helping my brother move, and yesterday I did CTX Step and Intervals, cardio only.

Two weeks left of school, and this week would be the last one where any actual learning is taking place :D Next week is a short week with a field trip on Tuesday and a fun day on Friday. Then, just a couple meetings and I am free!

Heartymax- My students have been checked out the last couple of weeks. Even my DS seems sick of going to the sitter's every day. We're all ready for summer.

Have a great day everyone!

Morning Ladies,

I did a lot of yard work this weekend, and enjoyed my youngest dd's dance recital. She did a great job, and was so graceful. Today is the Regional track meet, and she said that she is running the 400m in lane eight. Oh well, I'm sure she will do just fine.

This morning was PS Back, Biceps, Chest, Shoulders & Triceps. I'm going to change things up in my rotation a bit, just wasn't happy with the two on one off. Need to be realistic about what I can get done on the weekends. I just get to busy on the weekends to worry about to many workouts.

heartymax, The countdown begins, my youngest is doing the same thing. I think that hers is the countdown to Florida. :D Sorry to hear about your dog! Ours loves to be outside also, and she was with me the whole time I was out pulling weeds. ;) My youngest is done on June 7th.

Sam, Well those sandals would make a weekend even better! :D Great workouts! Hopefully my youngest hasn't checked out yet, she still has her final exams to get through.

Have a wonderful day!

Good morning! Saturday I ran 8.5 miles. My ankles were pretty sore after but today feel better. Yesterday we had a church picnic and I had errands to run so no workout. Today was the elliptical and ab work.

Heartymax, my kids are done June 5 and my daughter says some days that seems too soon and other days, not soon enough!:)

Laurie, I am glad you enjoyed the recital. At least the weather has cooled off for her meet!

Sam, sounds like you are a "little" excited with thte end of the school year drawing near!:D Have fun these next couple weeks!

Have a great day~ Susan

Good Afternoon Ladies!!

Was that awesome weather over the weekend or what.... loved every minute of it.
Saturday morning was the last day of X-Factor week 4 and finished it up the LIS Bonus Step.

I spent the majority of Saturday outside doing yard work. Still have lots to do yet. Sunday morning I did the trimming in the yard and then had a bridal shower in the afternoon, which only last 2 hours, quickest bridal shower I've ever been to. Then I came back home and worked outside for a couple of more hours and then decided to call it a day and get some of my inside work done.

This morning I decided to change things up a little and I did STS Meso 1 Disc 4 chest, shoulders, and biceps... felt great to lift heavier weights. I stayed away from legs since my left knee has really been bothering me. Hopefully it'll feel better tomorrow so I can get some good cardio in.

Heartymax - that time of the year where the kids are anxious to get out of school for the summer.

Sam - How are you and DH coming along with the ants. I thought of you when I was cleaning my flower beds and came across a nasty ant hill. Those make my skin crawl.

Susan - Wow..8.5 miles .. way to go.

Laurie - sounds like you had a weekend like I did, consisting of yardwork. I don't mind it as long as it's nice outside.

Speaking of that.. I'm going to sit outside and finish my lunch.

Make it a great day!!
Brenda

This morning was 40 minutes of Cardio Fusion. Today is going to be a very long day. I need to take my oldest in early to work on an assignment at school. He has a appt after school and both boys have a baseball game. Do I sound tired already??? Just knowing what my day is like----I wonder if I will be able to drag out of bed in the morning for a heavy leg workout. We will see:eek:

Can you ladies do me favor. Please go to www.facebook.com/meafcu and vote for my cousin Ms. Sheppard for the Golden Apple Award Teacher of the Year. They was recognized earlier this year and she won earlier this year and the now they are recognizing one teacher for the year to win a trip. You will see the poll on the FB page and just click on. Thanks so much.

Have you seen the new t-shirt that Cathe is selling with all her catch phrases on the back of the shirt. It is so cute.

Brenda---WTG on getting heavy workout. Reminds you of how strong you are.

Susan--do you ever run any 10K in your area?

Laurie---how was the track meet? I found myself watching a NCAA track meet on TV over the weekend.

Sam---funny that even your little one is ready to stop going to the sitter:D. When my kids were little, I only worked 10 months so we used to do so much stuff during the summer. I had a friend who also had two boys the same age and we would get together twice a week and just hang out with the kids from the parks, zoo, nature centers and any free stuff we could find. We purchased season tickets to six flags and would go there once a week. I work 11 months now and I must admit that I miss having the extra time off.

Enjoy your day!

Good morning! No workout yesterday  I'm having lots of trouble getting my energy up at 3:00 to do it. It's when my energy is at its lowest all day. Well, two more weeks of this, then I'll be free to do it in the mornings at a "human" time :)

I will work out today... if it's the last thing I do :p

Last night was my grocery night. I stocked up on my eating light essentials so I can get these couple of pounds off that have crept on. I know that has more to do with eating right than exercise. I made "healthy" one minute chocolate cake for myself from Chocolate Covered Katie. It was so yummy. If you haven't seen her blog you should check it out. It's a "healthy dessert blog". Everything is lower sugar, or gluten free, and everything's vegan. She also has a ton of single-serving dessert recipes, so you can have one 150 calorie cupcake or whatever instead of making a whole batch.

Susan- 8.5 miles! Awesome! I bet you felt great!

Heartymax- Yup, we're always squeezing all the fun stuff into the summer. I can't tell you how excited and blessed I feel to be getting ready to stay home indefinitely. Life is good :)

Laurie- I'm the same way about weekends. I always tell myself that those should be the days I for sure get my workouts in, but I'm so busy most of the time that I'm lucky if I can get even one done.

Brenda- We haven't made our serious attack on the ants quite yet. DH and I were going to do it on Sunday, but we were lazy  (I quote DH: "This weather makes me want a cigar and a mint julep") It's such a huge colony, almost taking up the whole flowerbed, and we have to be ready to put some time into it. We've got plans if we fail. We'll just mulch over the area and put in some potted plants instead. Or call in professionals :D

Hi Sue!

Have a good Tuesday, everyone!

Hello! Today was lower body strength, hamstring focused. That spot you have where your hamstring meets your booty is very sore right now!:p

Last night we had a water main break right next to our home so we have been without water since about 7:30pm. They hope to get it working by this afternoon! So right after the city guy came to tell me the news I ran and grabbed 5 gallon pails of water. However, I had to bathe like I was on "Little House on the Prairie" this morning! DH was able to shower at his High School... DD jumped in the shower quick last night. The guy told us "15mn" until shut off and she took the fastest shower of her life! Too bad she can't do that all the time!

I felt great for running the 8.5 miles but physically I was sick to my stomache and ached all over that day. Told DH I didn't understand how people run marathons! No, I have never run more than a 5 mile race.

Gotta go get to work! Have a great day! Susan

Morning Ladies,

Youngest did a great job with her 400m run at the regional meet, and from what I understand running in lane eight is tough. She will not be moving on, (needed to be in the top four) she was sixth. I'm still very proud of her, and she is going to sectionals as an alternate in the 4x400. :)

This morning was Results 10 Days to a Better Body Lower with Cindy Whitmarsh, and Barry's Bootcamp Butt Blaster. I plan on doing PS Legs & Abs after work. Will be interesting how well the second lower body workout goes, because I'm feeling my butt right now.

Susan, Oh yes it did cool of a bit to much, I was freezing yesterday. Have to remember that those metal bleachers are cold! That is called the Thutt! Love getting that area. :D Dang on having no water, we went through that when the tornado went through our area. Talk about a lot of stinky people for a couple of days. :D

Brenda, I still have a lot of yardwork to do also, just not enough time during the week, and I like some of my weekend time to be fun. Hope that knee of yours is feeling better.

heartymax, Busy day for you, hope you don't get to tired! The track meet was a lot of fun to watch, just wish it had been a bit warmer. Youngest was crying after her run, but her older sister was there to kick her in the butt. When they announced that she was sixth, and she improved on her last time, she was super happy. :D This was her first varsity meet, and it just had a very intense feeling all around.

Sam, That cake sounds really good, guess I need to eat my snack right now. Going to be a bit different for you come this summer, since you are not going back to work. I have a friend who homeschools, and she says that it can get intense when all the forms have to be filed. She is in a different state, so the rules might be different. But getting in your workouts when you are ready, will be a nice bonus.

Have a great day!

Good Afternoon Ladies!!

I want to make this quick because I want to sit outside and eat my lunch. I'll try to get on again tonight.

My upper body loved the weights yesterday. I'm a little sore. Today the knee was feeling lots better and I probably went a little crazier then I should have. I did the warm up and cardio blasts from the original bootcamp and followed that with Cardio Core Circuit (skipping that warm-up since I was plenty warm from BC).

Everyone have a great afternoon!!

Sorry so short.

Brenda

Hi all! Sorry I didn't post on Friday or Monday. I was off Friday afternoon and a bunch of us went out for lunch yesterday.

On Thursday night I did Athletic Step and my achilles started hurting during the workout. (I think it was a combination of Slide & Glide and the ricochets in AS) I did extra stretching and ice but it was still sore on Friday so I skipped the calve exercises in STS Disc 6 Legs. On Saturday I felt beat up because my achilles still hurt and my low back was sore, too. Listened to my body and took a rest day. On Sunday I did STS Disc 7 Chest, Shoulders, Biceps + Turbo Barre abs + 1 mile walk + pulling weeds. Yesterday morning I went for a 30 min. walk and did HIIT 30-30 last night. This morning I did Leslie 1 mile jog.

DD has a choir concert tonight (she's accompanying - not singing) and a Jazz concert tomorrow night so it will be very challenging to fit in any more workouts until Thursday.

Heartymax - Last day of school for my kids is June 8. DD is at 6 Flags today for Physics class. We never got to do that when we were in high school!

Sam - I hope you don't become one of those people who doesn't have time for us anymore once you're "free". ;) Yellow wedge sandals sound cute. I have a pair of pink floral wedge sandals that I'd wear more often if I had more to match them.

Susan - Great job on your run! Did you hear about the Green Bay marathon where people were dropping like flies? Do you think maybe you increased your mileage too quickly?

Brenda - I wish I had your ambition for yard work. Some years I have it and some I don't. This year I don't.

Laurie - You should be very proud of your DD! She did great and she's only a Freshman! Impressive. I don't think I've ever tried Barry's Butt Blaster but probably should.

Did anyone happen to catch the Cross Fit competition on ESPN on Saturday afternoon? I am totally in awe of these women. They do 10 different competitions over 2 days and they have no idea what they are going to be asked to do until a week, a day or maybe just minutes before competing so they have to train for everything! In 1 competition they had to do an open ocean swim (not sure how far), run 1500 meters in soft sand, do 50 chest to bar pull-ups, 50 regular pull-ups, 100 full chest to floor pushups, 200 deep squats (below 90 degrees) and run 1500 meters in soft sand again. (I may have some of those details wrong but you get the idea) In other competitions they had to do a rope climb, handstand pushups, push a 275 pound sled, climb monkey bars, clean and press 155 pounds. And they're racing to get the best time! It's insane but also addicting to watch. Much more interesting than watching a triathlon.

Good morning! I'm up early to work out for once. I did High Reps last night and I'll be headed down to the basement to do 4DS LIS in a few minutes.

I hadn't done High Reps before and found myself a bit frustrated with it. She moved so fast between exercises, and my muscles couldn't recover at all. I suppose that's the point, but next time I'll remember I have to go very light. I did really, really LOVE the lunges with the disc. I felt those exactly where I like to feel lunges. I could see just pulling out that chapter to do as an add-on.

So, Donald Driver won Dancing with the Stars! I've never watched that show, but now I wish I had. It was all over my Facebook feed this morning.

Sue- I've seen some You Tube clips of those Cross Fit women. They're amazing. I start thinking I should try Cross Fit and then I remember that I hate stuff like that :D If we ever get cable again I'll make sure to look for it. It sounds exciting.

Brenda- Holy crazy cardio workout

Laurie- Wisconsin has a very "easy" homeschooling law. Basically, if your kid is six or older, you have to sign a form that says you're homeschooling. That's it. Pretty nice. I hope it stays that way. Congrats to your DD on a good track season!

Susan- I love exercises that really work the "thutt"... other than leg presses. I get really bored with those after awhile. Bummer about your water. Any idea how long you'll have to go without? I don't know how people run marathons either. I'm going to attempt (yet again) to add a little running into my workouts this summer, but my expectations are pretty low ;)

Have a great day, everyone!

Morning Ladies,

Last night I got in PS Legs & Abs, and this morning was 10lb Slimdown Xtreme Cardio Kickboxing. I'm going to do 30MTF Weights Biceps, Triceps & Shoulders, going to do the one that has the abs during the rest periods. ;)

Brenda, Great job on mixing up the workouts, those BC blasts are tough and then follow that up with CCC.

Sue, End of school year sure is a busy time for you isn't it? ;) Sorry to hear about your achilles, that is painful. :( I was surprised at how my butt felt after that workout, guess Cindy and Barry knew what they where doing. Didn't know that CrossFit was on ESPN, will have to check that out. Probably make me feel like a whimp though. :D

Sam, I was not thrilled with that workout the first time I tried it, so it has been on the back burner since then. Glad to hear that it had some lunges that you where happy with. ;) Didn't know that the double D won, that is very cool.

Have a wonderful day!

Good Afternoon Ladies!

This morning I stuck with STS Meso 1 and did Disc 6 Legs. I have a feeling I'm going to be feeling it tomorrow in my guads and glutes. Had the slide back lunges along with the slide lunges. Firewalkers.... love them.. I love how they work the upper area of the glute muscle.

Last night I dug up ambition from someplace and tilled my veggie garden. It was really tough though. I have a lot of big chunks of dirt. I really need some good screened top soil but that costs lots of $$$.

Sue... good to hear from you again. How did DD choir concert go. I've never seen that Cross Fit, sounds like it would be interesting to watch. Hope you're achilles is feeling better.

Sam - I agree with you on High Reps. There are plenty of times I have to rewind because I'm not ready when they are. Other than that I do like that workout, it's a very good endurance workout. Early AM workout.. way to go!!

Laurie - love it when you can combine some cardio with the weights. That is one thing I really like about Cathe's 4DS. I'm kind of a cardio junkie.

Time for me to go sit outside and eat my lunch.

Enjoy the afternoon and evening!!
Brenda

No workout yesterday. Totally wiped out from the long day on Tuesday. Yesterday was DS 10th birthday so we went out to Red Robin for dinner and had cake at home. One thin slice for me and no more will I have after that. Both boys have baseball games------is it bad if I wish it would rain---I am soooo tired:(

Today was the step-Hiit Lo premix of Intensity since I didn't get in the cardio workout yesterday. I have to go back and get in the STS leg workout this weekend.

Sam---that's about all parents have to do to homeschool here too. High Reps does move fast. I hate the warm up in that workout. I usually just do my own warm up because I don't prefer light lifting as a warm up. High Reps does move fast. Just pause like the rest of us:D. It will get better each time you do it.

Laurie---Congrats to your daughter for having a great track season. Shaving off some seconds was a big accomplishment.

Susan---loved hearing about your hamstring focused workout. STS and Butts and Gutts definitely focus on those for me.

Sue---it is always nice to be able to get out for lunch sometimes. As an educator, we don't get to get out much as a group. I usually take my lunch and many of them go out to bring food back. However, I do miss being able to go to a restaurant and sit down and enjoy lunch with some friends. At least, I can bring my lunch----eat healthy and not spend money so I should complain or be jealous of those who can do that. It is nice getting out to enjoy the sunshine. HOpe your achilles are better.

Brenda---I love the sliding back lunges on the disc too. I HATE those side lunges though for some reason. I am not sure if it is form or what. Sometimes I just skip those.

Have a great day ladies.

HI there! Yesterday was my rest day for the week. We are going up north for the weekend and I had stuff I needed to get done. This morning I ran 4 miles.

Sue, I did hear about the Green Bay marathon as we are only 45mn away from there. I was not surprised they called the race though a lot of runners were grumpy about it I guess.

I have heard about CrossFit. We actually have a gym nearby that is a "CrossFit" and boy the things they have you do there:eek: They had them on the news and I was amazed. One guy was training for a CrossFit competition. Too far for me to drive every morning for though!

I hope to post tomorrow morning. If not, I'll be doing total body strength. We leave right after school for the cabin(4 hour drive). I plan to run on Saturday and Monday morning and walk and do pilates on Sunday.

Have a great day! Susan

Good morning. No workout today. I seem to have injured my shoulder :( It was feeling kind of sore after I did Afterburn last week, but I thought it was just DOMS from all the stuff in plank. Then, I think High Reps aggravated whatever it is more, and yesterday even the arm movements in LIS were painful. I was really careful with it all day yesterday, and it feels much better already, but I think I'll lay off the upper body weights for a week or two. The last thing I need is a torn rotator cuff or something like that.

I'm sure I'll take a long stroll with Elliot this evening, but other than that, I don't have a workout planned. I've decided to try to workout two or three days in a row, but then take a day off. It seems whenever I workout six days in a row I sort of burn out and the following week I'll end up taking three days off in a row

Heartymax- Mmmmmm Red Robin. I've only been there once but it was soooo good. I got some spicy burger with jalepenos on it. Yum. Happy birthday to your DS.

Brenda- What kind of veggies to you grow? I'm so jealous! We only have one sunny spot in our yard and it's full of shrub roses :) We signed up for a Community Supported Agriculture share this year, though. So, I should get my fresh veggie fix.

Laurie- If you could choose one 30MTF workout, which would it be? I'm most interested in her weights workouts. I have plenty of 30 minute options for cardio, but not so much for weights.

Hi Sue! I hope your achilles is feeling better. That's a bummer of a place for an injury :(

Hi Susan!

The scale's already back to where I like it after just a couple days of eating carefully. So, it was probably mostly bloat anyway. My favorite jeans are tight in the calves and thighs, though. I'm inclined to think it's muscle.... right :p ??

I made almond butter yesterday! I added honey and sea salt. Yum yum yum YUM! I highly recommend whipping up a batch if you have a food proccessor. It could be my imagination, but it seems more filling than peanut butter. I had some on a mini bagel for breakfast this morning and I feel stuffed!

Have a great day!

Morning Ladies,

Was able to get in KCM's 30MTF Biceps, Triceps & Shoulders after work yesterday, good thing that it is only 30 min. ;) Today was 10lb Slimdown Xtreme Core, hoping to get in Bob Harpers Yoga for the Warrior after work today. Have a lot of running around to do, since youngest is going to be at the Sectional meet.

Brenda, You have way more ambition than I do, I just can't seem to get motivated after work to do much of anything. :( WTG on getting your garden prep done. I tend to like circuit workouts also, so right now I'm doing some type of cardio in the morning that might incorporate weights. Then after work doing weight work, it seems to be working out really well.

heartymax, Happy belated birthday to your ds! I have wished for rain many many times because I just didn't want to go to something. :D Cross country was the one that I hated to stand through the most. I always like to make sure that I make up those workouts also!

Have a wonderful day!

Hey Sam, I should have known we would be posting around the same time. :D Dang on the shoulder, do take it easy until it it better. Three days on one day off is a good plan. I'm sure some of the other ladies can chime in on the 30 MTF workouts, but my favorites are Kickboxing, Cardio Blast, Train Like a Contender and Bootcamp. I like the weight workout, but mostly do the upper body portion of it. Most of the 30MTF workouts have some great premixes in them also. There are others that I have been wanting to get, but just have not seen the need.

Hi Ladies!!

OMG... my boss and I sat outside (because we were both freezing in our office) to discuss work stuff and man is beautiful out there. A little windy but nice and warm.

This morning I had cardio and got out Amy Bento's Kickbox Extreme. Haven't done that one in a while. My legs and glutes are feeling STS Legs from yesterday. It's a good sore.

DH and I picked up our new car last night in Franklin. A 2012 Passat. I get the pleasure of driving it. Very, very nice car!!

Heartymax - you make me tired just reading about all that you have going on. Happy belated Birthday to your DS. Red Robin.. .heard of it but have never been there.

Susan - enjoy your time away. Where abouts is your cabin located. I always find it difficult to get workouts in when I 'm away.

Sam - You take care of that shoulder girl. Glad to hear it's feeling a little better. Be careful and let it heal. In our garden I plant, radishes, carrots, onions, broccoli, spinach, lettuce, cucumbers, cauliflower, kale, doing some herbs this year, tomatoes, green peppers, acorn squash, zucchini, eggplant, sweet corn, musk melon, watermelon... I think that's about it, might be missing something. I love it when I get to eat stuff from the garden. It's the best. My garden is organic, I don't use any chemicals or toxins.

Laurie - How do you like Bob Harpers yoga. I have one of his Yoga DVD's, maybe he only has one, I'm not sure. I have only done it once. I have a hard time making myself do yoga. I should do it more often but I have a hard time getting myself to slow down and take my time it. I know my body would benefit from it.

Enjoy the rest of your day and the wonderful weather!!
Take Care!
Brenda
