Buff Badgers Week of May 14th

Good morning! I had trouble figuring out what workout to do yesterday because my legs were still so sore from Afterburn. I ended up doing Rhythmic step without any risers.

I'm even more sore today. I always get sore from Afterburn, but I don't think I've ever been this sore. Anyway, I was thinking of just doing a Leslie or something this afternoon if it hasn't eased up. Right now I'm walking around like the Tin Man :D

Brenda- I'm sorry to hear about your family troubles. Men that age can certainly be obnoxious.

Susan- I'm with you. More stretching. I was going to do some last night but... didn't.

Sue- I have trouble with the jumping-jacks and the cross-country move on the discs. It helps a little if I focus on keeping my toes turned out a bit, otherwise the dics bump into each other. They're really big!

Hi Laurie!

Hi heartymax! I might've missed you posting. I've been composing this post off and on for an hour :)

I'm really having trouble keeping my eating under control lately. I'll do great all day and then mess it up when I'm tired in the afternoon, or after dinner. I'll have too much wine (calorie-wise) or I'll sit and nibble on stuff- a little thing here, a little thing there. It never seems like all that much, but it's adding up. I've had a couple pounds creep back on. I know I'm not drinking enough water, but I've always been weird that way. I never seem to really feel thirsty. I think I've been letting too much sugar sneak back into my diet too. I know when I'm not eating it, I don't crave it as much.

Anyway, I know what I have to do, I'm just not doing it

Have a great day everyone. I have off tomorrow, and I hear it's going to be a gorgeous weekend!

Brenda - I'm from a family of 12 kids so I definitely understand about friction in the family! My dad had to deal with some very smart-mouthed, know-it-all kids (not me, but a couple of my siblings) and he was the master of tough love. Live by his rules or leave. They came around later as they matured and began to appreciate things after living on their own. DH's dad was the opposite - totally non-confrontational. He complained to us but never addressed the issue (DH's brother) head on. Unfortunately, DH's dad died several years ago with the issue unresolved. (DH's brother still living at home at age 50, a hoarder and totally disrespectful to his dad). IMO the tough love approach is better. Not easier, but better in the long run.

Laurie - The concert was beautiful but loooooooooooooonnnnng. DD's concert band and another concert band performed a total of 6 pieces. One of which (Angels in the Architecture) lasted 14 minutes! Then they had to acknowledge all the Seniors, letter winners, national award winners, drum majors, etc. It was over 2 hours and then we chatted afterwards with DH's aunt, uncle and brother who came all the way from Wauwatosa and Greendale. Didn't get home until 10 and all wound up so didn't get to bed until 11. Needless to say, I did NOT get up to workout at 4:30 this morning. I don't know if Mindy's disks have straps. I've just read they work better.

Sam - Do you workout on carpet or wood floor with the disks? I have to pull my puzzle mats up to use the carpeting underneath so it's a pain in the butt right away. I've messed up a couple of nights with eating this week, too. Not too bad but the weight doesn't come off when I do that and I really want to lose more before summer.

Hi, Susan!

I have to work on Sunday for a few hours so am taking tomorrow afternoon off. The plan is cardio tonight and STS Disc 6 Legs tomorrow.

Hi there! Woke up late today. I was up working on the kids computer and trying to get something printed for DS. Finally got to sleep around midnight. So I am right now going to do my Total Body strength workout.
Friday is my rest day, but I am sure I'll at least walk the dog and do some pilates for my abs.

Sue, 1 of 12! I am the youngest of 6 and that was enough! My Dad was stern and just one of those men who you respected--or else! ;) That is a long concert!

Sam, that eating is the hardest part for me. I can work out like the dickens but eating right, especially if stressed or tired, it so darn hard!!

Hi Laurie!
Hi Brenda!

Better get to those weights~ Susan

Good Evening Ladies!

I decided to spend my lunch outside today in the sun and wanted to get away from the computer. That's why I'm posting so late. Today was another day of week 4 of X-Factor and completed it with LIS bonus step.

Had to cut grass at No No's this evening and then went shopping for bridal shower gifts while my DH had an accupuncture appointment.

Thank you all for the kind words for my family troubles.

Sue, your DH's dad sounds like my dad. He'll complain to everyone else except the person he should be directing it to. I'm sure we'll get through it, it's a matter of how ugly it's going to get before things change.

Sam - I know what you are talking about with the eating. I do great during the day, my problem is once I get home. I'm trying to pay more attention to it and stop myself from going to the refrig or cupboards. At least we have each other for support and we pretty much can relate to what each other is going through.

Hi Susan, Laurie, and heartymax!!

Everyone sleep tight!!
Brenda

Sam---I don't like travel fit either. I am more thankful LIS series. Several of the workouts are easy to do on the road with little equipment.

Sue---I didn't pre-order the new series. I am determined to stick to my commitment not to make any additional purchases the rest of the year since I got the elliptical. I am also learning that I don't necessarily want every single DVD as I am discovering there are some that I am just not fond of. I almost didn't order the LIS series but I am so glad that I did. I don't use most of the Shock Series. My youngest son is thinking about joining the band next year. They start in 5th grade here. I took him to an evening band orientation the other night. He was interested in the trumpet and the alto sax but he had a hard time buzzing his lips so trying the trumpet was not fun for him. He signed up to play the sax so this is all new to us.

Laurie--are you doing a PS rotation now?

Susan---DH is planning to start running outside in the next couple of weeks. He has been talking about it now for a few days. Like you, he runs the dog in the evenings as well so he has to squeeze the workout in before then.

Brenda--hope you enjoyed the sunshine at lunch. I need to do that more often. I think it adds a little energy and uplifts to help people get through the rest of the day.

I took a rest day on yesterday because my hamstrings were DOMing from my STS leg workout on Wednesday. After work on wednesday, I had to go grocery shopping, take my youngest son to swim lessons followed by the band orientation so I was wiped out when I got home. Woke up with some serious DOMS on Thursday and decided to stay in bed. STS does that to me. I am not sure why I don't just move the leg workout to Saturday and plan to take Sunday off. Anyway, today was Back and Biceps and I added on the stability ball abs form PUB.

Good Morning Ladies and Happy Friday!!

Wanted to post real quick since I will be spending my lunch time outside in the sunshine.

This morning was cardio and I did Amy Bento's CIA Hi-Lo Knockout. This workout is a lot of fun and I love the music in it. It runs over an hour so I had to shorten it to an hour. Despite having achey joints, I had a real good workout.

Heartymax... loving that STS. STS seems to be great for DOM's. I might change things up next week and take a week off of X-Factor and put in a week of STS. Missing my true weight lifting.

Don't know that I'll be on much over the weekend with the good weather I have lots of yard work that needs to be done plus I have a bridal shower Sunday afternoon.

I hope everyone has a fantastic day and weekend!!

Brenda

Morning Ladies,

This morning was another workout that I had to dust off, have not done it in a very long time. I did Kick Start Your Metabolism with Chris Freytag, and I'm glad that I didn't get rid of this workout after the first time that I had tried it. It is intermediate, but I really enjoyed the workout. Has a lot of the feel of the 10lb Slimdown Xtreme workouts.

Sam, Enjoy your day off today, it should be really nice out. In fact the whole weekend is suppose to be nice. :D Dang on the soreness, hope you where able to get in the Leslie workout. Sorry to hear about the eating, can really relate with you on that one. I think that I have finally found something that works for me, but once in a while I do slip up. ;)

Sue, Well if Mindy's glides work better, then for sure you need to get them. :) Glad to hear that the concert went so well. I don't have to go through the award presentation for the youngest, because the coach is having a cookout at his in-laws place. Just the girls are invited, but the Freshman need to bring a main dish. Don't know what to send with her, but will figure it out before then. I don't know that I could have gotten up at that time either.

Susan, Yep Sue has the biggest family in the bunch of us I think. I was 1 of 7, and I think that was enough also. :D I'm going to get in more yoga, so tomorrow is my sort of rest day to get it in. ;) Are you still having fun with the magazine workouts and the one you created.

Brenda, It has been nice to get outside lately, was wondering if it was going to keep raining. ;) So you are heading into the Week 5 workouts, have fun with that one. :D

heartymax, Glad that those leg workouts are working you good! Oh I hope your DS goes for the Alto Sax! That was my instrument in school! I had a great time in band, and then he can try the Baritone Sax when he is a bit older. Now that instument is fun to play. :D Here I am geeking out. Yes I am doing the PS series in a two days, one day off rotation. Have been enjoying these workouts so far, sure glad that I changed it up from the GS series.

Have a wonderful day!

Good morning and Happy Friday!

I'm enjoying my day off so far. I got a bunch of cleaning done, and it's only 10 a.m. :D I'm feeling very accomplished.

No workout yesterday, which I think was the right choice, because my muscles are feeling much better this morning. I'll do some sort of circuit workout (or possible High Reps) this afternoon.

Laurie- I have a Chris Freytag workout that I really like a lot even though it's more intermediate. She's such a pleasant personality to work with. It puts those 10 Pound Slimdown workouts on my very lengthy wishlist. Will I ever have enough workouts?

Sue- I work out on carpet over puzzle mats. When I got the puzzle mats, I realized my step made a horrible noise every time I put a foot on it, so I put an old berber area rug we had lying around under it. The discs only worked okay on it, but now I spray them with furniture polish before I do a workout that uses them. They slide perfectly that way. (Bonus! Fresh lemon scent ;)) I haven't preordered the new workouts yet. I think I'm caving... but then maybe not. I keep going back and forth. And... I should be spending money on clothes since I have none.

Heartymax- I plan to take my LIS workouts with me on vacation this summer. I'm lucky to travel in a car for vacation, though. So I can pack my step and weights. If I had to take a plane somewhere, I'd re-acquire Travel Fit out of necessity.

Brenda- Enjoy those lunches in the sunshine! I'm in such a great mood today just being at home with the breeze and sunshine coming in instead of being cooped up in a classroom. It's amazing what that vitamin D does for your mood. :)

Susan- Enjoy your day off, and WTG on getting your workout in despite not getting much sleep the night before. Today is certainly a great day for a long walk.

I can't believe what huge families y'all come from! It's just me and my little brother that I'm always bragging about in my family. My dad was an only child, and my mom just has one sister. So, we're a very small, but tight-knit group. I only have two cousins!

Well, I'm off to Target to pick up a few odds and ends. I think I'll take DS to the park after lunch. Tomorrow I'm helping my brother and his wife move , and Sunday is my grandma's 88th birthday celebration. Nothing big, just dinner out and dessert at home.

Have a great weekend! Just two more weeks till I'm officially a stay-at-home mom!

Hello! Today was a rest day I just woke up and took Ruby for a nice walk. What beautiful weather, even at 5AM! I am doing extra stretching tonight because in the morning I want to try to run my longest run yet. I am just basically going to run, until I can't run no more! I told DH I am taking my cell phone incase he has to come get me! LOL! Sunday will be upper bosy strength.

Laurie, yes I am still enjoing these strength workouts. I don't know what it is, but I am being very tough on myself. Instead of going by what a TV trainer tells me to do... I am pushing myself. I guess because I know my limits, and when I am being a wimp and when I can push farther.

Sam, enjoy your time with Gramma! Happy Birthday to her!:)

Hearty, I prefer to run early in the AM because it is a bit cooler, and obviously less busy roads. Then I walk Ruby in the evenings just to stretch my legs after sitting on my butt at work!:p

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend. I have such a long "to do " list I don't know how I'll accomplish it all!

See you next week!
