Buff Badgers Week of March 26th

heartymax

Cathlete
Last week of Meso 3. I decided to stay at 90% and do the 8 reps instead of dropping back to 85%. I felt like I could push it so I did. You know I didn't do 1RM so all of my weights are estimates anyway. I did pushups before I started Chest and Back so I opted to shortened the workout a little and followed it up with the standing leg segment of Butts and Gutts.

The weekend was rather relaxing for me. I got out for spring break at the end of this week so I have something to be excited about as each day is a closer to that. :D

Brrrrrh! Dang it was cold this morning, had to wear my winter coat for the dog walk. Started up Meso 3 this morning with Chest & Back, felt really good and body parts are sore. ;)

Oldest is coming home for spring break today. Guess we had better get the washing machine ready. :D

heartymax, WTG keeping those weights at 90%. Means you are feeling strong, are you going to up those 1RM's for the next round? I have been adjusting my weights as I go along. Would like to be lifting as much as Cathe does one of these days. ;)

Have a wonderful day!

Hi there! Saturday I ran sprints for 4.5 miles. Sprinted for 1mn, jog for 30-45sec. Sunday I took Ruby for a 75mn hike on a trail. My legs were more sore from that, than from running! Since I did not take a rest day last week I may rest today, or after work I might do Pilates Max. Burn. DD comes home from her Orlando trip this afternoon and she may have lots to talk about tonight!:D

Heartymax, my kids have Spring Break next week too! Wish I did!

Laurie, yes it was chilly this morning. You get used to that warmer weather fast!:)

Have a good day! Susan

Good morning. No workout Friday. Saturday I did Bootcamp. No workout yesterday. I meant to, just never happened. We did a lot of cleaning and decluttering this weekend, and also (finally) joined the 21st century and got a flat screen TV :) The one we had was DH's before we got married! It started making a weird, buzzing sound, and we knew it was time to get rid of it.

I'm still struggling with motivation. You'd think with the road trip coming up, it wouldn't be a problem, but I just can't get excited about working out these days. Even my favorite step videos can't seem to get me in the basement. I think I'm going to do an old BSS-era FIRM this afternoon. I practically know them by memory, and they aren't as hard as Cathe. Maybe if I can zone out for a workout or two, I'll feel motivated again. It's times like these I wish I had a treadmill

Susan- You're a machine! Send some of your energy my way

Heartymax- Way to go on those heavy, heavy weights! You must feel so powerful lifting like that. I'd be flexing in the mirror for sure ;)

Laurie- I had my winter coat on this morning, too. But, it's supposed to be back up to the 60's tomorrow.

I've got spring break the week after Easter. Trust, me I'm counting down the days. Can't wait.

Have a good day everyone.

Heartymax - Good job on staying at 90%. I never did 1RM either but definitely challenged myself when I did STS. I hope you have nice weather for spring break.

Laurie - LOL on the washing machine! Sore is good.

Susan - I went for a long walk this weekend, too. I joked that I wanted to call DD and have her pick us up but I was actually serious! My hip flexors were sore. It'll be good to have your DD home again I'm sure.

Sam - We still have my tv I bought in 1990 upstairs. Hey, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. We do have a flat screen downstairs though so I get to workout to a big screen which is cool. Sometimes doing an easier workout helps me with motivation because working out feels fun again. I have a huge dread factor with some workouts which is why they hardly ever get done.

Trying so desperately to get out of my funk. I took a nap yesterday afternoon and when I woke up DH suggested going for a walk. I took my phone with me which has a pedometer app and we ended up walking over 18,000 steps! We were gone almost 2 hours and walked at a leisurely pace so we figure we went about 6 miles. DH likes to pickup aluminum cans to cash them in. I should have brought a trash bag to collect all the plastic bottles and other stuff. People are pigs!

On Saturday I did Jillian 6 Week 6 Pack workout #1. This morning I did CTX Back, Shoulders and Tris + 100 various crunches.

Laurie---It was pretty cool here yesterday too. Several people wore sweaters to work yesterday.

Sam----sending some energy your way:D I hope you enjoy your new TV. I remember when we got our first flat screen. It was for the basement and when I popped in my Cathe DVD---it was like WOW!!!!!!!!!!!

Susan---I bet Ruby was tired too after that long hike. Did she have a good nap:D

Sue--- so there is a pedometer app. I have to keep that in mind in case I am ever doing a lot of walking on a tour or something.

Today was AfterBurn. OMG---those sliding planks with push ups, burpees with push ups, AND mountain climbers have me totally whiped out right now.

Good morning! Today was Pilates Max Burn. That workout just let me know it had been a while! I have a terrible sinus headache and last night I was not in the mood to workout. I felt better this morning but can feel it coming back. Think I am getting my annual Spring Sinus infection!:(

Having a hard time deciding on my next rotation. I want to do a Cathe/Jillian, but I also want to do more pilates and I want to incorporate more running in order to improve my time & distance... Too many decisions!!

Sue, that is one long walk!! Cannot imagine my DH going for that long!

Heartymax, yes, Ruby got to take a nice long nap afterwards, while I got ot do laundry!:) Sounds like you pushed yourself today- good job!

Sam, when I struggle with motivation I just try to do a little something each day. Maybe nothing too much but something. I also look at my exercise/fitness magazines and usually will read an article that pumps me up again..

Have a great day ! Susan

Morning Ladies,

This morning was Weider X-Factor ST Week 2 and KCM's 30MTF Kickboxing All Core/Abs.

Susan, Your quandry is something I struggle with, to many workouts I want to do. Trying to do to many things always leads to the rotation failing. ;) The good thing is that you can combine a Jillian with running, since most of her workouts are shorter. I feel for you on the sinus headache, have not had one yet. I have been taking raw apple cider vineager. It is suppose to help with the allergies. Crossing my fingers that it will work.

Sam, Congrats on the new TV, it really is a big difference. I like Susan suggestion about reading an inspiring article. I know that I have done that, and Oxygen mag usually is the one I turn to for that.

Sue, Good job on the walk! My DH is of course Mr TV, since he has worked at a TV station for years. We have all modern devices for anything related to electronis and TV. But for my workout space, he gave me the VHS/Old DVR/Old TV that we have had since before the girls where born. :D I'm not good with technology, so I guess I will live with it.

heartymax, I love the warmer weather. :D Sounds like a tough workout.

Have a wonderful day!

Good morning! Considering I only got about 4 1/2 hours of broken sleep last night, I'm doing suprisingly well... :p Yesterday I did... wait for it... Body Fusion. It's been at least 18 months since I did Body Fusion. I felt good and tired, too. Ugh.

I don't know what's going on, but I have to get it together. I know things will be better once I'm done working, but I have 2 months of work left. I'm going to try reducing my sugar intake as much as possible and not use the computer at all before bed. I feel like I'm coasting through my days in a fog. Perhaps the RT will be a shot in the arm I need.

Susan- That's a good idea. Sometimes I'll just read what workouts people have done each day on the VF forums and that gets me motivated, too.

Sue- Our basement isn't finished, so I have the old TV down there. That one's at least ten years old, too; but it does just fine. :) People are pigs. It makes me so sad when I see garbage lying around our neighborhood. The amount of empty liquor bottles is a bit unnerving.

Heartymax- One of the first things I said to DH about the TV was "Wow, Cathe would look great on this!" I'll have to try a workout or two upstairs to try it out.

Hi, Laurie!

Have a good day everyone.

Hi gals! Real quick checkin because I have to pickup kids tonight.

Heartymax - Yes, there is a pedometer app for iPhone called iStepsP Lite. I have the free version but it does everything I need it to do. I took it out for a test a couple of times to check its accuracy and it was pretty close.

Did 21 min. of Leaner Legs this morning. Tuesdays are the day I have to leave the house early so I'm pleased I was able to do that much. Will TRY to do something tonight but I don't know - motivation needs a kick in the pants.

Have a good night!

Morning Ladies,

This morning was Disc 26 Plyo Legs. Tough but fun workout. ;)

Sam, Hope that you are able to get that shot in the arm from the RT. I'm sure seeing Cathe will help a lot. I know that I have gone through those points, and it just has to work through your system. ;) There is a really big difference watching Cathe on the big TV vs. that little one. I think these new TV's are a big reason why actors and actresses are getting body work done more and more.

Sue, 21 min. of Leaner Legs is tough enough. :D After work workouts are something I struggle with all the time. I'm just to tired after work to think about it.

Have a great day!

Hi ladies! Slept in a bit this morning. My head was still pounding. Bought some sinus pain/ pressure reliever yesterday, but it only works for a short time. Doctor can't get me in til next week?? May go to Walk-in... So, tonight I hope to do some more pilates. I found a good workout in my Pilates Style magazine I want to try.

Laurie, let me know how the cider vinegar works!

Sue, as I said before any bit of exercise is better than nothing. Hope you get your mojo back!

Sam, I just got my new Oxygen magazine in the mail and it had a lot of good articles/workouts in there that hyped me up a bit. Do you read that one??

Gotta go, have to stop and buy dog food before work!:D

Have a good day! Susan

Good morning. No workout yesterday, too tired. And then, even less sleep last night.

Then, as I was sitting in our morning faculty devotion, I got a call from the sitter that DS was throwing up and I had to come get him. I think, with his bad cold, it's just from swallowing all that junk. At least, I hope so. He seems fine, and I really don't want stomach flu!

Of course, since I haven't been sleeping, I haven't had detailed lesson plans written out (one of the benefits of not teaching in a public school is that they aren't required, but it makes things difficult for a substitute), and I started crying when explaining this to my co-workers... who are all very sweet and told me not to worry about it and just go home.

It's been a rough morning. I'm tired, embarrassed, and crossing my fingers that the throwing up is over.

Boy, I'm just a big ol' ball of sunshine, huh? I realize I sound terrible, but I'm fine. I just need to start getting some decent sleep.

Susan- I've been meaning to get a subscription to Oxygen forever. I've bought it a few times at the store and really like it. I keep waiting for it to go on sale at discountmags.com

Sue- Isn't that the one they call "meaner legs"? I would say 21 minutes is fine :D

Laurie- You're probably right that it just needs to work it's way through. I should just be patient with myself and do stretching/yoga/walking until I'm sleeping and feeling better. I had it in my head that I wanted to be really in shape for the RT, but I suppose it doesn't matter that much. It's not like it's a competition.

I hope I didn't bum y'all out! Since I'm home, I was able to ramble on forever  Have a great day! I'm hoping to catch a good nap, and I vow to cut off my coffee intake at noon :)

Sam---I think the stretching/yoga is a good idea. It will help you relax. You are already in an avid exerciser and in shape so you are going to feel good on the road trip. Continue to let yourself get the rest you need so you will have plenty of energy for the RT.

Susan---I slept in yesterday too. DH woke me up at 4:30 and I told him that I was too tired to workout. I then slept until 6:30 if that gives you any idea how exhausted I was.

Sue---I have done Leaner Legs a few times and I recall it being tough. Awesome getting in a short and tough workout.

Laurie---had fun with Plyo Legs'. Thanks for suggesting that I skip the rest week between Meso 2 or 3. It means I will finish just in time to head out to Georgia to visit my family for spring break.

This morning was push ups and then Plyo Legs. I skipped the tuck jumps and did squat thrust jump from the step instead of the one legged ones. There is no way I am going to even attempt those:eek:. I will wrap up the 3.5 rotation tomorrow. I hope to get in some cardio this weekend. We will be gone all next week so I may or may not check in. I am taking it as a total rest week. I may do some planks, abs and push ups but I don't plan to exercise other than that. My body could use some rest after this rotation. This will give me a chance to make a final decison on the rotation that I want to do .

Morning Ladies,

This morning was Jillian's 6 Week Six Pack. Surprised at how that one makes me sweat so much.

Susan, I slept in a little this morning, but not because I had a headache. I feel for you. So far the raw ACV has been working, I usually suffer from morning headaches during this season of blooming. Will see how it goes now that I see more trees popping. ACV is horrible tasting, but I will suffer with that to get relief from the head pounding. ;) They carry it at Pick-n-Save, just so you know. :)

Sam, Ramble on, I don't mind. :) Sorry about your DS, hope that it was just the nose problem. :( Sounds like you need a good sleep to get back into a good workout. ;) You are right, you don't need to be super fit for the RT. It is really all about meeting Cathe, and being with like minded people. :D

heartymax, I usually don't like those tuck jumps, but in plyo legs she does them a lot slower so I don't mind them as much. Now Kickmax is one where she is doing those like a crazy woman. I'm so glad that you can go on your break without having to come back to the last week of STS. I enjoyed this rotation more by skipping those rest weeks.

Have a wonderful day!

Good morning. I got a good six hours of sleep last night, so I'm feeling a bit better. I'm looking forward to the weekend, though.

DS is fine and back at the sitter's. I think it was just his cold that made him throw up.

Yesterday I sat on my butt, ate yummy things I usually don't, read most of "The Help", and watched a couple episodes of Mad Men with DH. I felt pretty good by the end of the day :p

I probably will not exercise today, other than a good stretch, since I'm still feeling really tired. This has been a difficult patch of insomnia I'm fight right now. Usually, regardless of how long it takes me to fall asleep, I sleep soundly. Not the case this time. I have restless, busy dreams, wake up a lot, and can't seem to get comfortable. I know it's about time for a new mattress, but I don't think that's the whole story.

Laurie- I've been feeling better about the road trip as I've been reading posts from other people going. It sounds like I'm not the only one afraid about keeping up. I know what you mean about the tuck jumps in Kick Max. I can handle them in Hiit, but she goes so dang fast in that workout! It's like she's going to rocket through the ceiling :p

Heartymax- One-legged squat thrust jumps  No way! Enjoy your rest week. You've worked hard!

Have a good day, everyone!

Laurie - I have to force myself to workout at night sometimes but it keeps me out of the kitchen so that's a good thing. Did your washing machine catch up yet? ;)

Heartymax - Um, yeah, those 1 leg squat thrusts. . . CRAZY! I can do a couple and then switch over to regular squat thrusts. Tuck jumps are not worth it to my knees. Plenty of other exercises to get my HR up.

Susan - Hope you feel better soon! You just reminded me that the cats need food.

Sam - Here's a tip for the RT - bring your camera to the workout area (along with your water bottle, towel, etc.) and when you want to take a break, pickup the camera and start snapping photos! It's a weekend more about fun than it is about proving anything to anyone.

On Tuesday night I did Bootcamp cardio & lower body premix. Yep, that was after doing 21 min. of Leaner Legs earlier in the day. I wanted more leg work -what was I thinking?! LOL Last night I went for a 2 mile walk. This morning I did All Step abs and CTX Biceps. Another "better than nothing" workout. :)

I think I'm ready to put CTX away and start something new. I'm thinking circuits but I'll check my spreadsheet first. Trying to figure out when to do a rotation of STS. I'm thinking of waiting until June after the kids are out of school and I'm not doing so much running around. Meso 3 might get cut short because August gets busy early with Band Camp and football practice. Will just have to do my best.

I am in uch a good mood this morning. Maybe getting out for spring break has something to do with it. :D

We are either leaving Sunday or Monday so I would like to get in some cardio before our trip. Then again----I have not even started packing so that may not happen. I also have to do my normal cleaning because I can't stand coming back home from vacation and the house is junky---so gotta work on that too. I am looking forward to being with my family and enjoying this week of rest. I am sure by Wednesday, I am going to miss working out but I also know that my body needs this rest.

Morning Ladies,

This morning is Disc 27 Shoulders, Biceps & Triceps. Nice and toasty body parts. :D

Sam, Glad to hear that your ds is ok. ;) Sounds like you had a nice relaxing day, I have those once in a while also. I call it decompression. :D You are so busy that you just need one day to do nothing. Yes the rocket is a good description of what she is trying to do in that workout.

Sue, DD hasn't really been home, I'm sure that it will be doing overtime today and tomorrow. :D I won't do her laundry, she is old enough to do her own. Skipping those rest weeks for STS was fine on my body, and it sure did make the rotation go fast. I think waiting until you have the time for STS is a good idea.

heartymax, Enjoy your vacation! Don't wear yourself out trying to do to much before you leave. ;)

Have a wonderful day!

Hello and happy Friday! No workout again so I'll make it quick.

I got another 5 or 6 hours of sleep last night. It felt good, but I need to catch up more. I'm still feeling pretty run-down. I think all I've got is a good old fashioned case of burnout.

DH and I are going out tomorrow to see The Hunger Games and get some food. I'm excited :)

I will be working out this weekend, but I plan to NOT jump right back into Cathe. I think an old FIRM will really be perfect -- I just have to make myself actually do it.

Have a great weekend. Heartymax, have a great break :)
