Buff Badgers Week of March 19th

Cathlete
Ok......I have to confess.....I broke my rule-----I baked a pound cake yesterday.

Today was push ups followed by Meso 3 Chest and Back. After all those push ups, I could barely lift the 32 1/2 pound dumbells for chest press. Things got easier after the first set. I also did the chest flys this time and realize that I am stronger and had pretty good form so I needed to increase my weight. I usually go really light on those. I also squeezed in one of the premixes from Gym Style Legs since I am trying to do 2 leg workouts a week.

Oh yeah----on Saturday I did 30 minutes on the elliptical and stability ball abs from Pyramid Upper Body.

Gotta run-----my workout was long so I am running behind. :D

Sam-----I answered your question that you asked on Friday. You may should ask it again so everyone else can chime in with their thoughts too.

Good morning! Today will be my first day back into working out. I feel well-rested and ready for it. I'm changing my workout time yet again to get me through the end of the school year. My energy level seems to be highest in the evenings these days, so that's what I'll be attempting.

Heartymax- I saw your reply on Friday, thank you! I do want to buy the whole thing at some point, I guess I'm just cheap  I was also thinking of DH, who's probably less inclined to commit to three mesocycles. Even if I do all of them, maybe I could just get him to do one of them. How was that pound cake? I love pound cake. I also did some baking this weekend, but it was for a get-together, so I was able to get rid of most if it

What a gorgeous weekend! I hope everyone was able to enjoy it a bit. Yesterday was especially nice at our house. We had a relaxing day, and DH made bangers and mash as a belated St. Patty's dinner. (Our last name is Irish, so I think it's required that we celebrate :D) We also drank Guinness, of course.

I finally read The Hunger Games. All the hype got to me. I haven't been resisting, really, just never got around to it. I saw it at Target Friday night and bought it. It was definitely a fun read. I can see why it's so popular. Now I want to see the movie

Have a great day!

Morning Ladies,

No workouts for me this weekend at all. Enjoyed the lovely weather. :D This morning was Disc 22 Chest, Shoulders & Triceps, and also S90 Core Dynamics. I love that these last three M2 workouts are shorter than the others have been. ;)

heartymax, Nice weight, it sure does get difficult to lift that weight up when those muscles are tired. ;) Doing all the plank work in Core Dynamics this morning was difficult, but I did way better than I would have done prior to the Weider workouts. Mmmm pound cake, do love that. ;)

Sam, I will have to look at what heartymax said, but if you want to get just one set I think you get more strength gains from M2. I find it to have more of a fun factor to is, and it has 60 sec. rest periods instead of 90 sec. The best part of M3 are the Plyo Leg workouts. We cooked out last night, and I just had to get brats.

Have a great day!

I did 40 minutes on the elliptical (with few breaks this time:D) and a segment of Ab Hits.

Sam---I know I said that I got the best results from Meso 2 but I like Laurie said----it is also the most fun. Meso 3 is not that fun. I have to say it feels good to be able to lift a heavy weight. So, I guess I can say that Meo 3 gives you a great mental boost. However---Plyo legs is awesome.

Laurie-----I miss the short workouts too. The upper body workouts in Meso 3 are so long.

My boys were playing outside with friends so I sliced up the poundcake and shared it with them. Easy and quick way to get rid of it and get to enjoy a slice myself.

Hi Susan and Sue!

Good morning! Last night I did Step Blast without the blast. It felt good to work out again, but I could definitely tell I hadn't done anything for over a week. I had to take the risers off my step after the first combo.

Heartymax- You had me looking up poundcake recipes yesterday  I must be very suggestable. In my search I found a recipe for a lemon version of muddy buddies or puppy chow (everyone calls it something different). I think I need to make them.. DH loves lemon. From what you and Laurie said, it sounds like Meso 2 is the most fun, so maybe I can convince DH to try it (especially if I bribe him with lemon buddies).

Hi Laurie, Susan, and Sue!

Enjoy the weather, it's going to be another great one!

Morning Ladies,

This morning was Weider X-Factor ST Week 1, Hiit 40/20 w/o the step and Ab Hits #1.

heartymax, I think that the length of the STS workouts is something that I don't like. I do enjoy the workouts once I get into them, but I do need to make sure that I give myself enough time. Great way to get rid of some goodies. I now have a DQ cake in my freezer! Youngest turned 15 yesterday, and that is what cake she wanted.

Sam, You will have to let me know how the lemon ones turn out. I know my girls love lemon also. There are dudes in these workouts, so your DH should be fine. They are doing pull-ups like big boys! :D

Have a great day!

Sorry to be MIA but I've been working on a project with a consultant and he is working from his hotel today because he is "crippled" (his words) due to a poor mattress. Sigh. . . . don't get me started on this guy.

Taking a little break from CTX this week since I knew my workout time would be limited. I did Circuit Max on Saturday with LOTS of breaks. Man, that one is hard. On Sunday I had to work and was in a bad mood when I got home so I ate instead of worked out. :( Last night I did Drill Max Leg Blast premix. Awesome workout. Today is my early morning so nothing yet today. With the warm weather I'm feeling more motivated lately but still struggling.

Laurie - Thank you so much for posting about your DD! I'm sorry to hear you had trouble, too, but it is somehow comforting to know that I'm not the only one having these difficulties. I like the idea of getting DD some help although she is so smart she tells you what you want to hear. I need someone who can see through the lies. We used to see someone for her ADD and she was real no-nonsense. She had her pros and cons though. Don't know if we'd want to go back to her or try someone else. I've been basically baby-sitting her while she does homework to make sure she doesn't go on the internet or get distracted with other things. That's been working so far. End of Q3 is Friday so I want to make sure she gets everything handed in. I also started charging her $5 every time I catch her in a lie. It's funny because I checked her underwear drawer last night because she said she was down to only 5 pair and found $20 hidden there. I assume she is hiding the money from me so I can't take it away. See how clever she is and how I have to stay 1 step ahead? She wanted to go to the Dells last Friday and cheer on the ACADEC team but when I found out earlier in the week she had lied and wasn't doing her homework I said no. So, she is getting punished for her actions. I've taken away her iTouch until the end of the semester, too.

Hi to everyone else!

Hi Sue! Hang in there this week!

Sam---never heard of lemon buddies---is it a brownie type dessert or cookie? Glad your inspiration, motivation and fun factor is back in your workouts!!!

Laurie--The Plyo leg workouts are short but those upper body workouts are waaay longer than I want. Almost done with the rotation and I am ready for spring break. I think I am going to Pyramid down (Meso 2 and Meso 1).

Today was push ups and Plyo Legs for a great workout.

Morning Ladies,

Disc 23 Legs for me this morning, only one more Meso 2 workout and I'm onto Meso 3 next week. I think skipping the rest weeks has made this rotation a lot more fun for me. ;)

Sue, I feel your pain, my dd lied but she wasn't good at it. ;) Now my youngest is a hard one to read, but she doesn't like to get punished for her errors. She goes on the computer every night to see if she has missing assignments. I just mentioned to DH this morning that it sure was nice not having an over emotional teen in the house. Hope that your dd starts to understand why you are so concerned. ;)

heartymax, Like the pyramid down, that should be nice to get back to M2 after your break. ;) After M3 I'm moving onto Gym Styles for 4 weeks, have not done that series in quite a while.

Have a wonderful day!

Good morning! It's a beautiful, beautiful day! I'm not sure if I have a cold, or if I've developed allergies as an adult, but I've felt this tickle in my throat and have been slightly congested for the last week and a half or so. I took Ny-Quil last night to sleep, and now I'm in a major fog. I think I might try allergy medicine to see if it helps.

Last night I did 4DS LIS, cardio only. I was feeling sort of yucky, and that was the perfect workout to get me moving with no dread.

Sue- I'm sorry about your struggles with DD. Like Laurie said, I hope she sees why you're concerned soon, and that anything you do to discipline her is really just showing how much you love and care about her.

Heartymax- Lemon buddies are like that "puppy chow" snack you make with chex or crispix that's all shaken up with peanut butter and chocolate and coated in powdered sugar. But these use white chocolate with lemon zest and lemon juice instead. I think I've got a way to make the powdered sugar taste like lemon, too :)

Laurie- I'm feeling so sluggish after my rest week that I can see how doing them in between each meso might make it drag a bit. Sounds like a good decision on your part to skip them.

Have a great day, everyone!

Laurie---I miss GS too and that is why squeeze in GSL premix earlier this week to get in an extra leg workout. My thighs don't look bad but I want to give them some extra attention as I approach short season.

Sam---Kudos to you for doing your workout in spite of......That's what I love about having the premixes. You can always find the perfect one for when you don't want a long workout for whatever reason that may be.

Today was one of those days for me. Didn't feel like working out.....but I dragged myself out of bed and looked for something that was not high impact. I opted for Athletic Step.

Good morning! No workout yesterday. My allergies or whatever were really awful. I finally broke down and had DH pick up some claritan on the way home from work and... ta-da! One dose later I felt much better :) So, I should be back in the saddle tonight.

Heartymax- Glad you found a workout that fit your needs this morning. Lately, when I don't feel like working out, I just don't

Despite the grogeous weather, I just cannot seem to get in a good groove lately with workouts and eating. I'll have a couple good days and then three bad ones. This is a bad time to be in a fitness funk with the road trip coming up. I have to find some motivation somewhere...

Have a great day everyone. It sure looks like spring out there!

Morning Ladies,

No workout for me yet today, but I'm planning on getting in 10lb Slimdown Xtreme Core. Maybe something else if I have time. Had to come in early for a meeting.

Sam, Hope you are able to get out of your funk. You only have a few weeks left before the RT right? I have been having some allergy headaches, nothing really bad yet. Hope the meds help.

heartymax, Something about those GS workouts are fun, just can't do them for more than 4 weeks though. :D Maybe because of all the push-ups in that chest workout. ;)

Have a wonderful day!

Meso 3 Shoulders, Biceps and Triceps. I did 3 alternating sets instead of 4 so I could save some time and get in some much needed cardio. I added on Hiit 30/30. There is no fun factor to Meso 3 except for Plyo Legs. It is nice trying out the heavy weight but just not fun like Meso 2. Anyway, one week left.

Sam---sorry this has been a tough week for you. At least you are having some good days lately too. I can't wait to hear about your fun at the road trip.

Laurie---GS Chest workout has to be one of Cathe's toughest!

I am so mentally exhausted. I have to remind myself that springbreak is near. I really want to take a day off---but I don't want to waste a day this close to the break.

I'm back!! The virus on our computer is now gone, I hope! Busy week this week too as DD left Wednesday afternoon to go to Orlando with her choir & band. They are singing at Disney World! She comes home Monday evening. So, she gets a Spring Break before her SPring break!

Let's see..Monday: S90 Total Body, Tues: Run 4.5miles, Wed: Core Dynamics, Thurs: S90 Cardio Challenge, Today: Elliptical (40mn) since it was raining out. Hope to go for a run Saturday and S90 Total Body again on Sunday. Then my 90 days are done! Next week I am just going to alternate running with pilates for a little bit of a "recovery" week while I plan out my Cathe/Jillian Rotation.

I hear you ladies have been having troubles with your teen DD"s. Wish I could have read all the posts cause we have been having our own issues with DD. She doesn't like to do her homework. We were struggling getting her to her work done before she left on her trip since the end of the quarter is today! She is still going to have to kick it into gear when she gets home in her Science class.. Frustrating... And yes, Sue, there is the lying as well....

It'll be a quiet weekend here. Plan to find some time to relax!

Take care ladies!! Susan

Good morning! I'm feeling quite energized this morning. I think by the rain... is that strange? Anyway, I did Bootcamp last night. I had eaten a little too much at dinner to have the greatest workout, but it still felt good. Then... I had AWESOME sleep. Like the best night of sleep that I can remember in a veeerrryy long time.

Susan- I'm glad you're back and you got all your computer stuff figured out. Have fun planning your new rotation. I always enjoy the planning more than the actual doing :p

Laurie- The first day of the RT is April 13th, the weekend after Easter. It'll be nice to have a week off leading up to it. I still need to get my butt in gear now, though. Even if I'm doing easier workouts, I need to be moving!

Heartymax- You ladies are awesome. I always tell myself I'll do Hiit as an add-on, but I'm always way too pooped to do anything before or after Hiit.

Sue- I hope you're hanging in there! The weekend's almost here!

Compared to the last few weekends, this one should be pretty calm. My parents are going to Italy for ten days, so any time that's normally spent with them will be opened up. I'm going to miss my mom--- we almost always go shopping or out for breakfast on weekends. Have a good one, everybody!

Morning Ladies,

This morning was my last Meso 2 workout with Disc 24 Back & Biceps. Looking forward to changing up the body parts next week. ;) This rotation of STS has been fun.

We are going to be re-doing our office layout, maybe an open concept. I'm looking forward to a change, and hopefully it will help with the temp in this office. I'm always freezing in my cube.

heartymax, I hear you on the mental exhaustion, but I don't have a day off until Memorial Day. Of course I may take a vac day during that time, we will have to see. Only one week left of the heavy weights, and then it is on to spring break! ;)

Susan, Glad that you are back with us. Congrats on completing your S90 rotation! Congrats to your dd for getting to go on that trip. What is it with these teen dd's of ours? Have fun creating your Cathe/Jillian rotation, that should be a fun one to try out. ;)

Sam, Glad to hear that you have your energy back! That is nice that you have that time off before you go on the RT. You can get some good workouts in before that time.

Have a wonderful day!

Hi all! Yeah, the weekend is almost here! :D Man, it's been a long week. My consultant is gone, thank goodness. He was a disaster. Luckily I'm working with someone else who is wonderful. It really effected my mood this week and gave me an "I don't care" attitude with my workouts and eating. Got back on track last night with CTX All Step cardio and CTX chest.

Susan - What is with these kids nowadays? Too many distractions I guess. Certainly more than we had growing up. I don't think your DD is in high school yet (unless I'm mistaken) so at least you have time to work with her. DD needs to apply to college this fall so this semester's grades are very important. I think she thinks she'll get in just based on her ACT scores but the Admissions Counselors we've listened to say they look at both the ACT and grades.

Laurie - DD is a very good liar unfortunately. :( Your youngest sounds very conscientious. That's good. At least DS is good about doing his homework although sometimes a little lazy about the effort. Meso 3 already for you? That went fast.

Sam - I'm jealous of your parents going to Italy! Hope they have a fabulous time. Maybe someday (sigh). . . I understand feeling energized by the rain. Our house is so hot (over 80 degrees) because we didn't turn on the air and that just zaps the energy.

Heartymax - When is spring break? It has to be soon, right? Ours is the week after Easter.

Have a great weekend everyone!
