Buff Badgers Week of March 11

Good Morning Ladies! What awesome weather we had this weekend. What a great way to spring forward!! MY boys really enjoyed themselves. DH has to work this weekend. I took the boys out of town to see the high school girls basketball team play in the state final and the girls won the state championship. A friend in the neighborhood plays so it was cool getting to watch her last few games as they rolled into the championship. DS14 signed up to volunteer for a K9 search and rescue training. We have been talking about volunteer work as he prepares for college one day. Anyway, I took him to do that on yesterday and basically, he and a few other volunteers just had to use the map and follow the trail and the trainers took out the bloodhounds to find him. He said it was it was very low key, kind of boring---but he did say that he would do it again. He asked me to take him to the volunteer training at the humane society next weekend which was his original interest. I encouraged him to sign up for the other one because this group needs volunteers because they often search for elderly people who may wander away.

Ok---I tried Volume 2 of HC this morning. It is definitely tough, but not as bad as what I was expecting. I was very thankful for the core breaks. Anyway, I did my own modifications using high planks when I needed to. The workout is definitely doable. I added All Out Hiit for a total of 1 hour and 15 minutes this morning. Skipping the cool down on the HC saves a little time and I can get right into my workout since I don't need to be warmed up either.

Brenda---You are going to love this. I wish I had not gotten volume 1 but I am going to give it a try later on.

Karen---Thanks for encouraging me to take the plunge.

Good Afternoon!!

Well, I'm slowly getting back into my workouts. This morning I did 4 mile walk with Leslie. Added some ski hops here and there to rev things up a little. It felt good to get moving again. :)

Heartymax - I got HC on Saturday. I can't wait to try it. That's cool that your DS is doing volunteer work.

Enjoy the rest of your day!

Hi,
B
I am doing HC vol. 3 today. Over the weekend I did Cross Fire and Burn Sets upper body premix.

Heartymax, I knew you could do these. I did All Out Hit for the first time over the weekend. It was a good workout. How neat to do that kind of volunteer work.

Brenda, nice to see you up and moving around. Have fun with HC.

Enjoy your day gals.

Hello ladies! I had a good weekend, no workouts. DH and I couldn't wait for St. Patty's Day; we enjoyed corned beef and cabbage last night :)

I got back into things this morning with the first three sections of Tabatacise. I'm going to give up on the 90 day XTrain rotation for awhile. I still like the workouts, but I miss some of my other ones. I'm going to steal ideas from how XTrain is structured though. I'm going to keep up with splits for awhile since I've been seeing great results, but add a bit more cardio.

Heartymax- I'm glad you liked HC. I have a very weak core, so it's very hard for me, but I'll work my way up. I have to take care of my lower back.

Brenda- I knew you wouldn't be able to stay away for long. I'm sure you won't have any problem with HC. It's a great way to get a nice low impact workout.

We got some bad news this week; DH's favorite aunt, and one of my favorite people in his family, was diagnosed with lymphoma. She's still quite young, only 62, and acts much younger than that. She's having a bone marrow test to determine the type and how to proceed with treatment. Anyway, if you're a praying person, we wouldn't turn down a few :)

I'm off to shower and eat some lunch. I've switched my workout time to early afternoon so I can get cleaning done in the a.m.. I think I'll get more done that way. If I don't clean till after a workout, it's not going to happen. :p

Have a great day, everyone!

My abs and obliques are singing HELLO this morning. A matter of fact, I HC worked my entire body. I managed to do Xtrain Legs premix.

Good Afternoon!

This morning I went with MMA Boxing and it went well. The punching felt awesome!!

I got my orthotics coming in about a week. I remembered I had some cheap inserts I had picked up a few years ago and had them tucked away, so I've been wearing those in my shoes since the weekend and it seems to be helping, so I'm hoping orthotics that are for my feet specifically should help more, right? :)

Karen - It feels good to get back into the workouts. I missed it. Great job on the workouts over the weekend!

Sam - Once I can do more, I think I"m going to finish the XTrain Rotation, unless it starts driving me mad to not try HC. :D Sorry to hear about DH's aunt. Prayers and well wishes coming your way. ;)

Heartymax - I can't wait to try HC. Love it when the muscles talk back. :)

Enjoy the rest of your day!

Hi,

Today I did RKS workout 7 and 11.

Heartymax, glad you are sore.

Brenda, I haven't done that workout ever. I never seem to just want to work my upper body with cardio only. Do you like it? I think it is a mind thing with me.

Sam, It is fun to get in some other workouts. There are so many good ones. It is hard to stay away from them. Sorry to hear about DH aunt. Prayers for your family. I like working out in the afternoon also. Your reason is better than mine though.

Have a great day.

Took the challenge of HC again today. I decided to lower my step to one riser since I was still sore. Maybe I can go back to two in the next few weeks. I still took breaks, but better than Monday.

Karen---sore is an understatement. I had my colleagues laughing yesterday as I could feel my abs all day long. With DOMS like this, I hope to see some results (with clean eating of course):D

Brenda---I don't know how your abs will respond but mine were definitely talking.

Sam---I wouldn't say my core is strong as I needed breaks---but I know if I hang in with HC that I will definitely get stronger.

Happy Wednesday!!

This morning I did Leslie's 4 mile walk and added ski hops, lateral skates, lateral hops and such to crank up the heart rate some. I go in for my follow up on my surgery this afternoon so we'll see what the doc says and if I get the okay, I'm going back to the XTrain rotation that I was doing. I might change my mind on that as I'm really anxious to try HC. :)

Karen - I like MMA Boxing. I wouldn't call it an advance workout. I love all the punching it has mixed with some cardio conditioning. I enjoy it but I think you need to like boxing. Heck, if I had the room for a punching bag in my workout area, I'd probably get one.

Heartymax - You're making me really anxious to try HC. I don't think my core is as strong as what it should be. It'll be interesting how my body responds. Can't wait to try it. :D

Have a great afternoon!

Hello, all.

I got completely absorbed in deep-cleaning DS's bedroom yesterday and never got around to working out. Today I did HC Volume 2 (still with mods), and the Gym Styles Chest and Triceps Timesaver. I feel worked all over :)

I still have to be extremely careful with HC. My lower back wants to pop up and take over so badly for all the lying exercises.

Brenda- I hope your doc gives you the ok for exercise. I know you're looking forward to getting back to it. I might try a week of the XTrain weights and cardio rotation next week, the one that's sort of like CTX.

Heartymax- I have to take a lot of breaks, too. And I'm also grateful for the lower body work. I love the deadlifts in volume 2. Of course, I always love deadlifts :D

Karen- I can never stay away from step for long. It is hands-down my favorite way to work out. So, with no step in XTrain, I was going through withdrawal a bit :)

Thanks for the prayers and thoughts for DH's aunt. I appreciate it very much. And.. while you're at it... my grandpa's health seems to be rapidly declining. He's starting to get very confused at night, doesn't know where he is, gets very angry with anyone who tries to help, stuff like that. He's been in and out of rehab centers, and everyone really would prefer that he be able to stay at home. Unfortunately, if my grandma and aunt (who currently lives with them) aren't able to manage the dementia aspect of things, he may have to go to a nursing home. It's heartbreaking for everyone involved. We know his time is coming soon, and wish he could pass away at home instead of in a strange bed somewhere. Anyway, once again, we wouldn't turn down prayers and lots of good thoughts. :)

Thanks, ladies, and have a great day!

Sam---I like those deadlifts in HC too, but I can't say I am a lover of DL otherwise...

Karen---I am glad I pushed through HC another day because I feel better today. My abs will adjust.

Today's workout was PUB down only premix.

Hello!

I just finished the second half of Cardio Leg Blast. It's definitely become one of my favorites and makes me wonder if I should acquire Lower Body Blast. Hmmmm...

Heartymax- My abs are sore today, too :) I'm going to do Volume I tomorrow.

Have a great day, everyone!

Good Afternoon!

I got the all clear from the doc yesterday. He said go ahead as long as it doesn't hurt. I just need to listen to my body. Of course, being extremely anxious to get back at it, I did Afterburn this morning. It felt harder than normal but at the same time it felt great!! :)

Sam - I might try one of my HC dvd's this weekend. We'll see. I'll keep sending those prayers and well wishes your direction. ;)

Heartymax - I really like PUB.

Enjoy the rest of your day!

Hi, Yesterday I did Hiit 40/20 then added on the cardio only from SJP.

Brenda, great news from the Dr. Nice workout to use as a comeback.

Sam, do you like the Plyo legs in STS also? I think you would like LBB. It is a fun workout.

Heartymax, Pyramid Upper is what I will probably do today. I am not sure as I have to pick up my DH from his colonoscopy. What is nice about HC is it is doable and you get to see results fast.

Have a great day.

Happy Friday. No workout today. Went to see high school boys basketball team play in the semi finals. Lost by 3. It was sad to see them not play their best game at such a critical time and to know they only lost by 3 under those circumstances. Anyway, didn't get home til midnite.

Hi

Instead of PUB yesterday, my DH was on the couch so I could not use the dvd player---I went for a 5.5 mile run. I sure got my cardio in this week. Now for the weights. What weight workout should I do today? Going out to lunch with a co-worker today for a bit but hope to still get my workout in.

Heartymax, it is sad when the teams play so well the whole season and then don't play like they have been in crucial games.

DS had his first track meet in high school. I didn't get to go but am anxious to hear how he like it. He finished drivers ed classroom and also got his first job. What an exciting age 15 is.

Are you guys suppose to get lots of snow on Monday also?

Have a great day and enjoy the weekend.

Good morning. I was supposed to take a day trip to Ikea today with my mom and DS, but she had to stay all night at my grandparents' house because my grandpa wasn't in his right mind again.

So, I was planning on skipping my workout, but now I don't know. I might just do some cardio, because I am very sore from my HC/Gym Styles workout on Wednesday.

Karen- I do not have STS. I watched to clip from Plyo Legs yesterday. I'm pretty sure I'd love it. Someday I'll save up my pennies to get it. When I first got into Cathe she was in between the releases of the Shock Cardio series and the LBB/High Reps etc. series. Meanwhile, I was still getting my tail kicked by Basic Step :) I don't think we're supposed to get snow down here... I hope. I'm ready for spring. I say do PUB since you missed it, or Muscle Max.

Heartymax- Bummer about DS's game :( I bet you're sleepy.

Not sure how I'm going to spend my day, yet. I know I want to get out of the house, just not sure what to do.

Have a great weekend!

Happy Friday!!

This morning my legs are pretty sore from Afterburn so I went with Hardstrikes, the heavy bag tabatas, and 100 jacks. Figured that was a little easier on the legs. :)

Karen - You did have a good cardio week. It's always nice to get back to weights after having a longer bout of cardio. It's snowing lightly in Germantown, WI right now. Yuck!! I'm sooooo done with winter!

Heartymax - That must be hard to lose a game by only a few points at such a critical time. Poor guys.

Sam - Sorry about your grandpa. That's hard seeing loved ones like that. My grandma turned 98 on the 9th of March and she has dimentia and went to see her on her bday and I don't think she had a clue who we were. At least then she was in a good state of mind but she definitely has her moments. She's in a home so she gets the care she needs. There is no way anyone would be able to her the care she needs at home. She's a tough, stubborn lady... won't be surprised it she makes it to 100.

Have a wonderful weekend!!
Take Care!
Brenda
