Buff Badgers Week of June 13

Cathlete
Saturday was Low Max for a great cardio and lower body sculpting. Started Meso 2 this morning for chest, shoulders and triceps. I have my eye on Cathe's bootcamp and muscle endurance workout. I don't own it and definitely thinking about treating myself with this one. Probably will wait til the fall to purchase it though. I went to sporting goods store to purchase weighted gloves but they didn't have any. I got the weighted wrist bands instead and they seem to work great. I also picked up some lifting gloves which I should have done a long time ago to minimize the skin damage on my inner hands from all the weight lifting.

Hope everyone had a great weekend. It was so hot last week. We are expecting nice weather in the low 80s all week so I am going to enjoy it. I went shopping for some cute summer tops yesterday.

Hey there! Saturday was Kenpo and yesterday was just a nice long walk. Today is P90X Chest/Shoulders/Tris and Abs followed by the elliptical for a quickie!:)

Heartymax, Muscle Endurance is a great workout. Bootcamp is one of my personal favorites. It just hits everything and as she says you feel so "accomplished" at the end of it. I need to update my wardrobe - I am tired of my clothes!

Have a good Monday ladies! Susan

Morning Ladies,

Got in Power Hour on Friday after work. Saturday was 10 Min. Solutions and Cathe's Total Body Stretching workout #1. Sunday was a rest day, and this morning was Pure Strength Back & Biceps along with Barry's Bootcamp 5 Day Academy Chest & Abs cardio. :)

heartymax, For sure Bootcamp is a great workout. Muscle Endurance also, but those endless Leg Presses are torture. :D I need to get new lifting gloves, the ones I have are full of holes. Shopping! Love IT!

Susan, Keep up the great work on those P90X workouts! You are doing a great job.

Have a wonderful day!

Sorry I only checked in once last week. Work is really busy and will continue to be throughout the summer. This is our peak season and I have 3 major projects to finish by end of August.

Laurie/Karen - Congratulations to your Graduates! Hope the parties went well and everyone is rested up.

Heartymax - You can't go wrong with ME and BC. Both are great workouts and the dvd includes lots of premixes.

Susan - Hey, Energizer Bunny! :D Don't know how you find the energy to do elliptical after P90X.

Laurie - Are those BBC cardios any easier after doing S90 Tabata? (Please say yes)

I'm continuing my Supreme 90 rotation and loving this series so far!
Wednesday - Ultimate Ball
Thursday - Rest day
Friday - Tabata Inferno
Saturday - Shoulders & Arms
Sunday - Cardio Challenge
Monday - Legs

I had a really nice weekend. Went to the Brewer game on Sat. with DH, and went to the symphony on Sunday with my mom and brother. As far as workouts, I kept up my Slim Series rotation with Mix It Up! and Tone It Up!. Today is Cool It Off! and I'm really looking forward to it. I wish I could do it outside on such a lovely day. I love a good stretch, so I'm not sure why I don't care for yoga. I think I'm always worried that I'm doing it "wrong".

Heartymax- I can't enable you because I don't have that one ;) I definitely need more Cathes. I'm thinking of getting Travel Fit for our trip that's coming up.

Susan- You just keep going, don't you? Keep it up!

Laurie- What is Barry's Bootcamp? I'm not familiar.

Sue- Great job sticking to your workouts despite your work craziness. My DH previewed a couple of the S90 workouts with me (since I got them for his b-day) and he seems a little intimidated. I'll have to tell him I know some ladies who could kick his butt! :p

Have a great day everybody.

This morning was Hiit 30/30 followed by abs and planks segment form Ab Hits.

Susan---how often do you work abs in P90x? Earlier in the year, I was working my abs everyday and was seeing a difference with good eating. When I started STS, I try to at least do them on my cardio days because the STS workouts are pretty long already. I was always confused as to whether you should give abs a day of rest like the other muscle groups. I have heard different opinions on that. Your abs look great so keep it up. I am seeing my ab definition ...if only I would do a superclean diet for a while I know that six pack is there.

Sam--I have travel fit and have used it on a few occassions when we travel. It is good for a road trip when you don't have access to anything else and don't want to travel with any weights. Otherwise, I don't use it. Cathe did a great job with travel fit. I have also taken kick max with me to do one of the premixes that don't require any equipment to give me some cardio on the road too. I am not sure if you have that one.

Laurie---I don't own Pure Strength---one of everyone's old favorites. I bought slow and heavy last summer and truly love it. I purchased 10 minute solutions a while ago and used it a few times....forgot all about it.

Sue---great job on hanging in there with your rotation even with the long work hours right now.

Hello again! Today is PlyoX. I am in a grumpy mood so I am really ready to give my all! Hopefully after that I will be happier!;)

Heartymax, Tony has us do Abs on our strength training days. He says just like any body part, your abs need rest too. My abs do get a workout doing Yoga/Pilates as well but that's nothing like Ab Ripper!

Sam, you had a nice weekend! You are doing well on your rotation. My hubby is intimidated by P90X. I tell him if I can do it, he can, but he still thinks I'm crazy... and I am! :D

Sue, I hope you are able to enjoy some of the summer despite being so busy at work! Make sure you make time for relaxation!:) Glad you are enjoying the S90 workouts.

Hi Lala!
Hi Karen!

Stay strong- Susan

Morning Ladies,

This morning was PS Legs (standing portion only), S90 Core Dynamics and STS Extended Stretch.

Sue, Truth be told NO! It wasn't easier, because instead of just doing an exercise for 20 or 30 sec, Barry's instructors are making you do 60 sec. with no rest. WTG on getting those S90 workouts done.

Sam, The Barry's Bootcamp that I'm doing is the 5 Day Academy series which is on this site. Barry's Bootcamp He has another series that uses a band, and I have those also. Love them both. Each of these DVD's has a weight section, floor cardio and treadmill. All of them are tough.

heartymax, I always forget how good the PS series actually is. It has been years since I have done these workouts, and now I wonder why I don't pull them out more. ;)

Susan, Hope PlyoX pulls you out of the grumpies! :D

Have a wonderful day!

Sam - Loved your comment about kicking butt! LOL Tell your DH he can do Supreme 90. You work pretty much at your own pace and might not get all the reps in but as long as you're working hard who cares? I'd love my DH to try Supreme 90 but he still has elbow issues (fractured 3 years ago) so can't do pushups, spiders, plank jacks, burpees, etc.

Heartymax - I think it depends how hard you work the abs as to whether you do them every day. S90 has abs/core in all its workouts (so far at least) but aside from Ultimate Ball, you only do a few sets. I wouldn't do Ab Ripper X or one of the CoreMaxes every day. Even Cathe's other ab workouts are too much to do every day IMO.

Susan - I'm off Wed-Fri this week because DS has football camp so I'm sure I'll fit some relaxing in there. ;) That is, between taking the cats to the vet, getting the dryer fixed, etc.

Laurie - Darn! I was hoping those BBC cardios had somehow magically gotten easier. I guess that's why I like S90 cardio - you only work hard 20-30 seconds at a time with lots of rests even though they are short. PS Legs is still my favorite Cathe leg workout of all time. The floorwork is basic but SO effective.

Did S90 Chest and Back this morning and then drove DS14 to weights at school. He started yesterday and is so sore he didn't want to go today but I forced him to. This is High School football now! He can't be a sissy about a little soreness. I'm sure they worked upper body today anyway. He was dreading the running though so hopefully that wasn't too bad for him. DD16 pitched at her softball game last night. This is only the 2nd time in her life she's ever pitched at a game and she did pretty well. Had a few walks (all the girls who pitched did) but she did get a strikeout. So proud of her for trying.

STS Legs Disc 14 today. I opted to do more plie squats instead of the side lunges with the disc. I am still not able to get the form down correctly so I decided to sub a different exercise. I mistakenly lifted too much weight for squats and had to sit down on the couch to roll the barbell off. I forgot that I used my weighted vest to add the additional weight and that I needed the heavier barbell for back exercises. What was I thinking????? I have to remember to make notes of things like this. I was just looking at the weight I needed to lift and loaded that barbell without thinking.

Laurie---you have been doing some great workouts lately. I can't wait to get back from vacation and pick up some of my old favorites.

Sue---your DS will hang get used to the rigor of high school football. Good mommy to push him to give it his all! At least you can understand sore muscles and know it is not the end of the world....

Thanks to all of you for your comments about working the abs. The days that I do the core section for Butts and Gutts it is about 15 minutes so that is definitely a long workout and my abs are burning. I guess a short 7 minute traditional ab section may not be too bad. Lately, I have not been doing every day. I used to just do abs about 2 times a week and I wanted to start focusing more and moved it up to about 5 days a week and now I do about 3 days and will probably keep it there.

The last 4 days of school are 2hr early dismissal days. My 7th grader was suppose to have an Algebra quiz on Thursday so he is excited that the teacher cancelled it and now he can just chill in the evenings.

Hello! Today is Back/Bi's/Abs. Not looking forward to it as it really hurts my arms!

Heartymax, 3 day s a week is plenty of time to see AB definition. Keep your eating as healthy as possible!:)

Sue, glad to see you have vacation coming up. Enjoy it!:D

Laurie, yes, Plyo did help make me feel a bit better. I just gave it my all and left it on the floor!

Have a great day ladies. Kind of gloomy here. Glad I have nothing to do!

Susan

Morning Ladies,

Short workout for me with PS Chest & Triceps.

Sue, I will be doing the floorwork for the legs tomorrow, and combining it with Shoulders. I love having these PS workouts on DVD! ;) With the VHS there would be no way to split the parts up like I have been doing. Sorry to hear that your DS is sore, he should be fine after a week. I'm wanting to get my youngest going on some cardio this summer. She needs to do something besides sitting around. ;)

heartymax, If you can get in some short ab workouts into your day, that would be plenty. Even trying out about 50 sit ups each day would be good. ;) I think that I have done the same on the amount of weight. I now have Cathe's tower, and that really helps with lifting the weight.

Susan, What week are you on for this roune of P90X? Just think you only have to do this workout in round three two times. ;) The workouts in this round where not my fav's.

Have a great day!

Sorry I didn't check in yesterday. I had my hands poised over the keyboard when my DS woke up from his nap. I did Tear It Up! and a segment of Stretch Max later in the evening. Today is supposed to be an off day, but I think I might do LIS from 4DS because I miss step, and that is one of my very favorite routines, plus it's short and sweet.

Heartymax- Thanks for bringing up the abs question. I've been confused about that for a long time. Slim Series has abs in every workout, but it's usually five minutes or less, so I suppose that's okay? Cathe's ab routines are very difficult for me, but I think they might be easier after I'm done with this rotation.

Sue- Still working on DH. He's been doing a lot better with getting his short runs in most mornings, but I know that I didn't really develop a passion for working out until I started lifting weights, and I'd like to see him have the same experience. Way to push that boy of yours, like heartymax said, at least you have plenty of experience with sore muscles!

Laurie- Those look like tough workouts. Anything with the word bootcamp in it always intimidates me :)

Susan- This gloominess is a real bummer, isn't it? I'm stuck inside with DS all day, which is always a challenge. I hope the plyo cheered you up the other day. I know I always feel better after a workout.

I dusted off Athletic Step this morning. I have only done this work out twice before today. I was never fond of the two step workouts from that series. Love Hiit but not Athletic Step and Step Moves. The music is awful and I just love good upbeat songs when I workout. I would make myself do Step Moves sometimes---but just wouldn't pull out Athletic Step. Well---today, I actually enjoyed it and had a great workout and glad I chose it. Finished my workout with a segment from Ab Hits.

Sam---what a great feeling to WANT to do a short workout even on your scheduled rest day!

Sue----Hope you son is doing better! Just tell him that he will be able to offer encourage to all of next year's freshman when they begin weight training as they will be looking up to him.

Susan---I understand sore arms lately! STS has been working my muscles. It's amazing that after all the years of working out-----Cathe does wonders and keeps me sore!

Hey gang! I like Thursdays cause it's my pilates/yoga day! Today is the elliptical and Pilates Advanced followed by Pilates buns/thighs. I was going to mow the lawn but with more rain coming I'll wait!

Heartymax, you sure post early!;) Glad you had a good workout today. Yes, music effects my workouts too. I like it to be strong.

Laurie, I am in week 6, day 4, of P90X. I am really excited about my results so far. I have been eating so well, it's crazy! Looking forward to taking my next set of pics already!

Have a great day ladies!

Susan

Morning Ladies,

Well I was a day ahead of myself on my rotation, so no weight work for me this morning. :D I did KCM's 30 Minutes to Fitness Cardio Blast workout #2 (I don't know why she has the step out for this portion, she doesn't use it at all ), and Eoin's Power Yoga for Happiness The Quickie.

Sam, Hope you where able to get a workout in even if it was short. I enjoy short intense workouts also. ;) Today is a beautiful day, hope you are able to enjoy going outside.

heartymax, I have only done Athletic Step once. I don't usually do step workouts anymore, because when I do my knee starts acting up. I can do plyo work on the step, but no torque movements. :( Glad you where able to enjoy the workout, even though it isn't one of your favorites.

Susan, I can't believe how fast your rotation seems to be going. Glad you are seeing positive results. Eating is a huge part of getting the results you want. ;)

Have a great day!

Hey, Gang! It's been a busy last couple of days. Cats had their annual vet appt. yesterday which is always an adventure. Impressed the Dr. by getting a urine sample from our male cat. (It was all about being in the right place at the right time. ;)) Both cats did great but the male cat has to be drugged for the car ride. Does NOT like car rides and the vet is about 20 min. away. DS has had football camp the last couple of days. I asked if other kids were sore, too and first he made it clear that he does NOT complain about soreness at camp and second that the other kids don't work as hard as he does. A little full of himself I think.

Laurie - Love KCM! Funny thing about having the step out and not using it on that workout. Haven't done that one in a while so I'm trying to remember it. My DD needs exercise this summer, too. She's playing softball at least so with 1 practice/1 game a week, at least she's doing something.

Susan - I need some of your clean eating dedication to somehow work its way over to me. Keep up the good work!

Heartymax - I love step but I know what you mean about the 2 step w/o's from that series. They were kind of "meh" to me. Love LIS/HIS though.

Sam - Ha! I hadn't read yet that LIS was one of your faves when I wrote above that I love it. :D

Yesterday was Ultimate Ball. Today is supposed to be a rest day but I felt like I had to do something so I went for a walk around the block (about a mile) and did a Crunch Pilates workout from Netflix. Have been cleaning my house, too which always feels like more work than it sounds like. Repair man just left and now my dryer works again $200 later. :( The vents were extremely clogged which caused the thermostat to blow. DH discovered the clogged vents the other night and cleaned them out. He thought the thermal fuse was probably what needed replacing (it wasn't) so I'm glad I didn't let him tinker with it for a few more days (weeks?) while my laundry continued to pile up.

TGIF Ladies! Just finished Back and Biceps. Those drop sets are a burner!

Sue----ROTFL at your DS!

Susan---I usually post right after early my workout. I am usually done by 6:00. It is my resting time. :D

Have a great weekend!

Hey there! Today is Legs/Back/Abs and then lawn mowing day.

DH and DS went up to the in-laws cabin for the weekend so it'll just be me and DD. I hope to clear some toys out of DS's room while he's gone. I told him "Trust me, you won't even know there gone!". He's got way too much stuff! I think he's a little worried as to what I am going to do!

Heartymax, how are your bi's feeling? Mine were not too sore after my workout the other day, but during the workout I thought they were going to bust out of my arms!

Sue, hope your cats got a healthy grade at their check-up. When I had cats I always hated taking them to the vet too. DS was just asking me this morning if we could get a cat. I told him maybe after the guinea pig passes away, which probably won't be for 3 more years! As for my clean eating, I am just really watching it and listening to myself. As soon as I feel full, I'm done. I am also not snacking any more. I feel like I finally have control over the eating part of my regimen and it's kind of empowering in a weird way!

No major plans for the weekend. As I said clean out toys and other things. Make a few trips to Goodwill. Hopefully finish one book and start another!

Take care- Susan

Morning Ladies,

Quite a mix of workouts this morning. Started off with 10 Days to a Better Body Lower Body (Cindy Whitmarsh), then it was PS Legs floorwork only, and finally PS Shoulders. It all came out to be less than 60 min. ;)

Sue, LOL about your DS and his soreness. The girls always complain about being sore when they start their sports out for the season. ;) Yesterday my oldest went for a run, and then went downstairs to lift weights. She ran back up the basement stairs to ask how heavy my bar was for the weights. :D She is super serious about college track, guess she wants to go to nationals in CA next year. :D :D The KCM workout is all plyo work, probably doesn't help at all.

heartymax, Enjoy your weekend also. ;)

Susan, Have fun with the cleaning a sorting. I don't envy you those jobs. Have a wonderful weekend too.

My weekend plans are not all that exciting. Planning on kickboxing on Saturday (P90X Kenpo+ or MMA Boxing ), and then I need to go to my neices piano recital. Sunday is Yoga, and faire rehearsal. Yes another year has started again. :D

Have a wonderful day!
