Buff Badgers Week of June 10th

I went on a 3 mile run with DH on Saturday. It rained all day on Friday so it was a much cooler run and not too humid. A coworker let me borrow P90x so I can check it out for a couple of weeks and see if I like it. She kind of asked me to let her know what I thought of Plyometrics so I figured that was her challenge for me. Well, I watched it first and said to myself that it didn't look as hard as Cathe workout. Well, I did it this morning and my feel remain the same.
I just don't think it as intense as a Cathe Hiit workout. Several of the moves are very similar to Cathe's except at a slower pace. I need breaks when doing 40/20---no breaks needed at all during this workout. It was a good change and I know my legs got a good cardio workout and I am sure I will feel it tomorrow. I may try some of the weight workouts this week. Any thoughts on P90 vs. Cathe for those who have tried it?

Today is my DS11 5th grade promotion so I am off work today.

Woo-hoo! I just worked out with no pain! I did a Jessica Smith workout: Dance Party! It was fun and silly, not too challenging, but my heart rate got up and I broke a sweat, which is all I was hoping for today. Tomorrow I'll try some weights.

Heartymax- Thanks for your thoughts (so far) on P90X. I've thought of asking somebody if I could borrow theirs just because it's so famous and everyone seems to love it. My very athletic brother said he almost didn't make it through PlyoX, so I'm happy to hear that 40/20 is tougher :D My brother and I are a classic case of sprinter vs. endurance athletes. I'm way more on the sprinter side of things.

We had a nice weekend. Friday was a fish fry with my MIL for Bryan's birthday, Saturday we celebrated his birthday at home with baby back ribs, and Sunday my family came over for a grain-free dinner. I made grain-free, refined sugar-free brownies that were so healthy I had one for breakfast! I had another adjustment on Saturday morning. She said I'm holding my alignment much better now, and I'm not seeing her again till Wednesday.

Have a great day, everyone.

Hello!

Well, DH was off to Ladysmith at 3am Saturday. Made for a very long day for me as well since I stayed up and worked out and kept moving from there. I finally stopped about 5:30'ish when I had some dinner with friends. Sunday got my house cleaned and the rest of the trimming done and then the afternoon I had to go over by one of my sister for my niece's HS graduation/b-day party.

Saturday I did HC Vol 2 with my little twist on it. Since I had done legs on Friday, I didn't want to do them again so while she was doing legs, I did my own little cardio blast. Worked out pretty good. This morning I did Athletic Training. I like that workout.

Heartymax - I have a PlyoX and one other cardio one from P90X and I'm not a fan of Tony Horton. He babbles too much for me. I think the workouts look good but he just rubs me the wrong way. I think Cathe's HiiT workouts are harder the PlyoX, IMO. :)

Sam - Yeah... you got a workout in without pain. Your headed in the right direction. I'd be interested in that refined sugar-free brownie receipe if you want to share it. Glad you had a nice weekend!

Have a great evening!

Hey gang! Saturday was Core Synergistics and Sunday was a 45mn hike. Today is semi-rest and 185 squats. Weekend was busy, running here and there and doing my mile-long list in between!

Hearty, I enjoy P90X. My favorite is Core Synerigstics because as Tony says " It just covers it all". I do it about once a week. I am also a big fan on PlyoX but do "ramp up" a couple moves. I think Cathe's tabata and Hiit are a little tougher. I also really like his leg routine. He uses little to no weight but you really feel it. He loves his pullups for back work but since I did not have one, I do it with a band, as he shows. I would love for you to try Core Syn and tell me what you think!:)

Sam, so glad you got a workout in!:D Sounds like a nice weekend.

Brenda, funny thing, I was doing Jillians Shed & Shred last week and was thinking to myself that I wish she would just shut up! She drives me nuts, but for some reason, I like Tony.:) I dread doing Jillians not for how hard they are, but for how much she jabbers!

Have a good evening! Susan

I am back! This morning was CrossFire followed by 190 squats. I love CrossFire!:)

Beautiful day here today, 85, unfortunately the AC is out at work at least until tomorrow! Better go find something cool to wear!:D

I'll check back later, til then have a great day!

Susan

Hi!

Wanted to pop in real quick. Me and one of my co-workers are going to the park for lunch to get away from the craziness.

This morning I did BM2 Cardio Blast. I always seem to get a real good calorie burn on that one.

Susan - 190 squats... You go girl!! I can believe that about Jillian. That is one of the reasons I haven't gotten too much of her stuff because I'm not sure that I'll like her as an instructor and will want her to "shut up" ;)

Enjoy the rest of your day!!

Brenda

Good morning! Gorgeous day! I did my heavy, paper weight routine today. It felt good for the most part, but the ol' SI felt a bit achy while I was doing squats. I think I might have to stick to rear lunges and leg presses for weighted lower body for awhile. As much as I love deadlifts and squats, the leaning motion with heavy weights feels risky.

Brenda- It's a great day for lunch at the park! Enjoy it!

Susan- I feel the same way about Jillian, it's not so much what she's saying as how much she's saying. I wish there were a "mute everything but actual cues" option on her workouts, because I think a lot of them look really excellent. I just can't stand the chatter. :)

Okay, I've got a kid that NEEDS to get outside today. Have a great day!

Good morning! Today was KenpoX followed ab work. Glad to have a rest from squats!;)

Sam, happy to hear you were able to get a good workout it. Yes, those squats can do a number on your back! Best to be careful...

I got Tabatacise in the mail yesterday!:) I previewed it and will be doing this Saturday morning. I am so excited!

Have a great day~ Susan

Good Afternoon!

This morning was STS Total Body Workout. I haven't done that one in a long time and I think parts of my body will be talking to me tomorrow (probably the legs because I'm feelling it already :)).

Sam - It was beautiful day to have lunch outside. Bad thing was, we didn't want to go back to work, but we did. You hit is head on with Jillian about its how she says it not what she says. Mute option, except for cues, would be good. :) Glad you getting workouts in again. Be careful with the back and dont' over do it.

Susan - I think you are going to LOVE Tabatacise.

Hope everything is okay with Laurie and Karen.

Hi Heartymax!

Make it a great day!
Brenda

The last two days have been very busy. Tuesday I had a retirement party for a colleague after work and then I had to attend a PTO meeting at school (requirement for my class). It was a very long day. I didn't get home until almost 8pm. I was extremely tired. then I had a hair appointment after work yesterday and then DH and I had some errands to do in the evening. This evening is the 8th grade promotion so I have another long day.

Felt good to get up this morning and get my workout in. I did 4 sets of push ups at 16,17,14,20. I really struggled on that last set. My workout today was P90 shoulders and arms. Why not just call it shoulders, biceps and triceps. I like that. I sat in the chair for the move where he squats low and do the biceps. Cathe has a similar move when you sit in the chair so I did my Cathe version.

Susan---I like the PlyoX workout...so I will do it again before my return it to my worker. I don't plan to do the whole series because she let me borrow it to "check it out". I don't have a pull up bar and have no intentions of doing pull ups.

Brenda
--I agree, I think Tony talks a little too much for me---but not nearly as bad as Jillian. She truly gets on my last nerve. No reason for her to work up a sweat because she spends all her time talking.

Sam---take it easy with the leg workouts. Modify as needed and don't make aggravate it worse. The weather has been nice here. We are expected a big storm in Maryland today.

Have a great day everyone. It will be another long one for me.

Mornin'! Today was Cardio Intervals followed by 220 squats. Wow.... Surprisingly, I want to try this "squat challenge" again when I am done!

Hearty, I do like his shoulders & arms workout. The only workout I did not like in P90X was YogaX, because I am not a yoga girl.

Have a great day ladies!! Susan

Hello! Yesterday my broadband was not cooperating with me, so I got only 20 very interrupted minutes of a Jessica Smith fusion style workout in. Today I did weights: leg presses, deadlifts, shoulder presses, bent-arm lateral raises, weighted calf raises, and planks. I went kinda light with the deadlifts to baby my back a bit.

Susan- Enjoy Tabatacise! I was thinking of giving that a shot this weekend, too. It's one of my absolute favorites, and I've missed it!

Brenda- Another beautiful day today! I hope you got outside again.

Heartymax- I've noticed that with "guy" workouts that they just call the workout "arms". I've wondered the same thing as you.

My back feels really good today. It was achy yesterday morning, but felt great after my adjustment. I don't have to go again till Monday.

Another shout out to Laurie and Karen -- Hello if you're reading this! :)

Have a great day, everyone.

Hello! Today was elliptical followed by ab work and 225 squats. This was by far the hardest squat session yet. I think my legs were tired from yesterday!

No big plans for the weekend. I want to pull shrubs out tomorrow and we are going to my in-laws SUnday.

Hope you all have a wonderful day! Susan

Just popping in to say happy weekend to everyone. No workout for me today, as I was watching my cousin's son (2nd cousin? 1st cousin once removed?).

Anyway, have a great weekend!
