Buff Badgers Week of Jan. 16th

Cathlete
My weekend workouts were:

Saturday - STS legs and Cathe's Intensity HiiT Lo and Bootcamp Premix
Sunday - Yoga Relax Express #1 and Butts and Gutts Abs. I never do yoga so that was hard for me to commit to doing as well as just completing the entire workout. I have popped in the DVD before--did about 5 minutes and stopped. Yoga is just not my thing. But---I made an effort to try it and maybe I will again.

Today was STS Chest, Shoulders and Biceps followed by Low Impact Challenge Cardio Express #4 for 31 minutes of cardio. I had not done any of the express workouts before so I wasn't sure what to expect. This is basically the warm up and the bonus step routine most likely because I have never seen the footage to this routine before. I had just put away my weights so had to run and grab some light weights because I didn't know I would need them. I must admit that I like this express workout.

Sue---My coworker says that she just calls finish line and see if the have shoes in her sons size. If not, she asked them to order and have them shipped to the store. She says that occassionally have some---but finding the size and a pair he likes is not always easy.

I would like to be done with the STS rotation before spring break which is the first week of April. We will travel south to visit our family. I am trying to have to skip a rest week or one of the weeks in a Meso. I haven't decided which one yet.

Good morning. I'm still mourning the end of the football season. Yesterday was just awful. I gave up during the fourth quarter and cleaned my bathroom. I should have worked out because I had just eaten a ton of Doritos  I can't even remember the last time I ate a ton of Doritos.

Friday: The Viper
Saturday: Hiit Double Wave Pyramid and Stability Ball Abs
Sunday: Low Max, combos only, but on an 8" step for once.

Today will mark day 7 in a rown of working out. I plan to do the Upper Body of either Muscle Max or Total Body Trisets. I'm going to take a stretch day tomorrow.

Heartymax- That sounds like a nice, quick bit of cardio. I'll have to try that premix. One of my favorite things about LIS are all the premixes on the dvds. Yoga's not my thing either. I haven't even tried Yoga Max yet. I found Relax nice and relaxing... but still boring :p

Have a great Monday, everyone!

heartymax, WTG getting through the yoga. I wasn't a big fan of yoga until I got used to the poses. ;) Quite the decision to make on the rest week or a meso.

Sam, We seem to post at the same time. ;) I didn't get to watch the game at all, was at a memorial service and then had to go grocery shopping afterward. I was drained from singing all day! :(

Have a wonderful day!

Heartymax - Thanks for the recommendation on Finish Line. I should have mentioned his flat feet and my concern about getting shoes for that. I will keep them in mind for cleats next Fall. Congrats on doing yoga. It's not my fave either.

Sam - Thanks for letting me know about Performance Running Outfitters. I took DS there on Saturday and they measured his feet. Cool store! They have a treadmill with a little camera setup so they can watch as you run and make sure the shoes you are trying fit well. DS pronates and his arches are very low (he's had flat feet since he was little). They had some size 15s in stock but the ones he wanted needed to be be ordered for a wider width. I could tell DS was a litlte concerned when the first pair was brought out. He wanted them to look cool (like all teenagers do). Luckily the 2nd pair they brought out was better AND it comes in black which he likes. Low Max on an 8" step - I'm impressed! Love Viper. It's a real calorie blaster.

Laurie - Looks like another tough Weider workout for you this week. 90 seconds of split lunges! You didn't miss much with the game yesterday. It reminded me of watching our HS team lose in the playoffs - like I was watching another team. I watched the game downstairs with DS yesterday which I don't usually do. Normally I watch it upstairs while I'm doing other things. He pointed out lots of stuff I did't know (not that it's hard to do) but you can tell he's learned a lot from playing football for 4 years.

Didn't workout Friday night as planned. Felt like chilling instead so that's what I did. On Saturday I did Mega Step Blast on VHS, Sunday was GS Back, Shoulders, Biceps and this morning was 2 Leslie Fat Burning Miles. It was so fun doing MSB on Saturday! This was my 1st Cathe workout and I'll probably use this one until I don't have a VHS player to play it on any longer.

Today was 45 minutes of Cardio Fusion followed by 20 minutes of Turbo Barre Lower Body. I tried the upper body last week so I wanted to check this one out. I never do leg conditioning drills. This is one tough workout. I would like to incorporate it once a week along with my STS leg workout. I will see how that goes. I always have bright ideas:D.

Sue----There is nothing like having an oldie but goodie that you love. I forgot that my very first Cathe was on VHS. I got it in a trade at Firm Forum years ago. I did it a few times but I can't remember the name of it. I think I still have it. I always think of my first Cathe purchase as the DVD that I got form the website---which I believe was PUB/PLB followed by tons of others. I think the VHS is pinkish color. I have to look for it and see if it is the one that you love so much!

Sam and Laurie---Sorry that football season didn't go your way this weekend. I am happy that the Ravens are playing and I am just happy that the Pittsburg Steeler got sent home last week. Yes---I am a steelers hater so that made it easy for me to cheer for the Packers last superbowl. I hated to see the Broncos lose! Now--I am hoping for a 49ers and Ravens match up at the superbowl!

Salad and fruit packed for lunch. Have a great day ladies.

Morning Ladies,

This morning was 10lb Slimdown Xtreme Cardio Kickboxing, and Recovery Upper Body.

Sue, Glad to hear that your where able to get your ds some shoes that will work for him. Shoes are important when you are young and growing. ;) Also pretty cool that you where getting football lessons from him also. :D Yep week 3 is a good one. So far I'm impressed with this set. They do have all the same warm up, but since I'm doing other workouts I usually don't do it.

heartymax, I'm glad that the Ravens are in it also, and they better beat those Patriots! ;) For some reason Tom Brady and his coach are people that I just don't like. :D Never have like Eli Manning either, so I'm rooting for SF too.

Have a wonderful day!

Heartymax - Uhhhhh. . . .my cousin's son (guess that makes him my 2nd cousin?) is the punter for the Steelers. No lie. Daniel Sepulveda is his name. He's 1 of 4 boys in his family and they all played football. I'm not a Steelers fan though so I don't care if you're a Steelers hater. ;) I don't know if I'll ever be able to make it through all of Turbo Barre. And if I do, will I be able to walk (or sit) the next day?! LOL

Laurie - Ugh! Why do instructors do the same warmup in a series like S90 or Weider? Is it that hard to come up with something new for each workout? Cathe does it. Okay, rant over. ;) Found out yesterday the shoes we ordered for DS are on backorder until April! :( They may be able to get them in sooner though. We might have to look for another pair and let these other ones be his really good ones.

Went for a 2 mile walk outside last night. Nothing yet today. Got to bed late and couldn't get out of bed.

Good afternoon, ladies! I am enjoying my rest day with a cup of coffee while sitting in my sweats. I have to say I don't even know who to cheer for in the playoffs... except against the Patriots. Tom Brady bugs me, too. Not sure why...

Sue- I'm glad to hear you had a good experience at Performance, but sorry to hear that the shoes are on back order! What a major bummer. I do understand your DS's preference for cool-looking shoes. The last time I bought workout shoes, I refused to even look at any that weren't available in black and pink

Heartymax- So far I've only done Turbo Barre once. I did the whole thing, but I had to stop early during quite a few of the leg conditioning sections. That is definitely a tough workout. The ab part is quite a burner as well! I don't think I did every rep for that, either.

Laurie- I'm happy you're enjoying the Weider workouts. It's nice that there's this new wave of affordable systems available in stores. I think we're in the golden age of the workout video :D

I was up way too late having an argument with DH. We don't argue much, but seem to need to "have it out" about twice a year or so :D. Everything's fine, but we were joking about how tired we were by the coffee pot this morning. Needless to say, I'm glad it's a rest day.

Have a great day, and drive carefully!

Good Morning! It is TTOM so I am feeling sluggish. I made it through Back and Triceps which is my least favorite combination of muslces to work on the same day. I needed to do abs but who wants to do abs duirng TTOM right???

Sam--I only did 20 minutes of Turbo Barre Legs. That introduction alone makes me wonder if I can ever do the entire leg segment.

Sue and Laurie---I am looking forward to the games on Sunday! I got a feeling they are going to be some good ones. I love a good game though.

Have a great day ladies!

Good morning! Could NOT get out of bed this morning for a workout. I'll try to fit something in later, but I'm making no promises! My insomnia seems to kick in even more when I'm very tired, like I was last night. I just couldn't get to sleep. I feel better today, though. In case you haven't noticed, I'm a real princess when it comes to sleep. I have a hard time getting it, and if I get much less than 7 hours, I'm useless.

Heartymax- I'm right there with you with TTOM. I'm also craving sugar this week. Such a pain. I've had chocolate twice already today :p

I got the notice that TA's Meta is out for delivery (again) today! Let's hope my discs aren't damaged. I've decided to wait on Kineticflix until I've paid for Meta (4 easy pays! Gotta love QVC ;) )

Have a great day! Stay warm.

ETA: I realized that I never reported Monday's workout! I did the upper body premix from Muscle Max. Overall, I was able to lift much heavier than the last time I did it, but because I went heavier with the weights, the band work killed me. I couldn't do all the lateral raises and kickbacks. Those pulses! Sheesh...

Hey ladies. Don't know if you all know but my brother was killed in a snow mobiling accident last Thursday so I have been a little bit preoccupied, but I have been exercisisng. DH has made sure I go workout to release stress, etc.. Patrick was only 45 yrs old and was a wonderful person. We had his funeral yesterday where he lived in Land O Lakes. We are having a memorial service/celebration of his life this Saturday in our hometown of Beloit. It's been a very rough week for everyone.

Friday: nothing...
Saturday: S90 Tabata
Sunday: elliptical
Monday: S90 shoulders/ arms
Tues: OFF
Wed: S90 Legs

Was a bit afraid of Legs this morning. I was in such pain for so long after the last time- so far so good though!:)

We'll talk tomorrow ~ Susan

Susan - I am so very sorry about your brother! {{Hugs}} to you during this difficult time. I read on FB about your loss but didn't know it was an accident. That must have been a shocker and a cause of great stress for you and your family. What a supportive and thoughtful DH you have to encourage you to workout. I remember the morning of my dad's funeral doing Bootcamp because it seemed an appropriate tribute to his WWII service. It helped me get through and I know it'll help you, too.

I did GS Legs Timesaver 49 min. last night. Last week I did the 32 min. Timesaver so I guess I'm working my way up to the full 68 min. w/o. Less DOMS that way at least. ;-)

Took off this afternoon to take kids to the dentist. No cavities! :). Didn't have the energy this afternoon to workout and now DD is watching a movie for French class so I don't know if I'll get a chance.

I asked DS who I should cheer for this weekend and he said the Giants and the Ravens. And he is really cool :p. (DS grabbed my iPad and added that last part.)

Have a good evening everyone.

TTOM has really got me drained. My body just doesn't have the energy to workout so I am taking a rest day.

Sam---I had two pieces of chocolate yesterday also.

Susan--I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your brother.

Sue----Doing the entire GS Legs workout is just exhausting.

Morning Ladies,

First off Susan, I'm so sorry about the loss of your brother. Do take care of yourself and your family. Very nice that your DH was so supportive, and I do believe that the exercise is a way to get that stress out.

My workouts yesterday where Week 3 Weider, 10lb SDX Yoga/Stretch. This morning was 10lb SD Recovery Upper, Lower and Core.

Sue, That is a long time to wait for the shoes, but when he finally gets them it will be good. Just remember the length of time needed when he needs to get a new pair. ;) I actually enjoy the warm-ups in these workouts more than S90! :D I may have to do a combo of S90 and these workouts one day. Glad you are getting some good leg work in.

Sam, The band work in MM is tough! I did that one recently, and used my new Cathe bands. Dang I thought my arms where going to fall off if she did one more set. Hope you are able to start sleeping more, I had a problem last night. I am having a really weird ear sensation. I feel like I'm listening in a tin can, everything seems to echo.

heartymax, I'm not looking forward to the drain, why do our bodies have to go through so much during that time. :( I would say no on the abs also. ;)

Have a wonderful day!

Good morning, everyone.

First, Susan, I am so very sorry to hear about your brother. It is so difficult to lose someone so young and in such a sudden way. Your family is in my prayers. And how wonderful to have a supportive, loving family around you during this time.

Heartymax- Glad to know I wasn't the only one eating chocolate yesterday :)

Sue- You have an ipad? I'm jealous :p

Laurie- My problem would be solved if I could just remember to get my ambien refilled  Usually if I just take it for a day or two my sleep cycle resets. What an odd ear issue! I hope it resolves itself... sounds like some sort of inner ear thing.

Well, Meta arrived and one of the discs was damaged in the same way my first set was. I was really bummed :( I'm just going to get a refund. I joined Kineticflix last night, and I plan to try Meta through there. I put the discs on my queue, but it looks like they're so popular that they can't guarantee when I'll get them. I can wait. I've got a couple Christi Taylor step workouts I've always wanted to try on their way :)

No workout for me today so far. Just couldn't get out of bed again. I think I may need to go back to evening workouts. I was up too late watching Mad Men with DH.

I have to start researching homeschooling in earnest. I've been planning to do it for awhile, and DS isn't even three yet. But, we got a letter from our old church's preschool letting us know that he'd be eligible to enroll for 3K in the 12-13 school year  I'm not planning to do it, but it was a reminder of how fast time flies by!

Have a great day, everyone! Take care of yourself, Susan.

Heartymax - I think you were the one who asked about an old Cathe VHS with a pink cover?? I did Step Max on VHS this morning and it has a pink cover so maybe that's the one? Cedie is in it but no one else I recognize. They're wearing leotards and white lace bike shorts. I am proud to say I never wore anything like this in the 80s or 90s. :D

Laurie - Good point. I'll have to factor the lead-time into DS' next shoe order - unless we can find an internet source. I noticed they weren't too willing to share the exact type of shoe he was getting. I know they're Asics but that's it. I don't blame them though. Otherwise people would come in, get fitted and then order from the internet. I'm more than happy to pay them for their customer service (at least for the first pair) Do you think your ear trouble is sinus related? Or an ear infection maybe?

Sam - Yes, DH bought me an iPad LAST Christmas so I've had it over a year. Love, love, love it! DH has an iPad2 that he won in a drawing. How lucky is that?! Home schooling sounds like a LOT of work! In some ways I wish I had chosen to stay home and home school my kids or at least stay home with them but it's hard to be out of the workforce so long in my career field and try to get back into it when they're older.

Did 40 min. of Step Max this morning. Hit the snooze button twice or else I would have completed it.

No workout for me today. I feel like TTOM has just zapped all my energy. I can't lift a weight or jump and bounce off a step feeling like this. At least I know this is just a temporary feeling and I should in full blast this weekend for some great workouts.

Have a good weekend. It is going to be cold.

Morning Ladies,

This morning was X-Factor ST Week 3, and 10lb SDX Total Body. Besides the kickboxing workout in this series, I think that the total body is my favorite. My ears are fine this morning, so I'm guessing it has to be my body responding to the weather pressure. Very strange I must say. I have had similar issues with weather pressure, but this was the first time I felt I was in a plane all day.

Sam, That is so great that you can do the home schooling, I don't know if I could have done that. Sorry to hear that the DVD came in with the same issue. That sure has to be frustrating.

Sue, I think some of Cathe's older step workouts where good for me, because they where more basic. I have such a hard time with her newer ones, my brain just can't keep up. I still remember how much fun Mega Step Blast was. Remember the orange walls on Step Heat! I know I could probably get the girls track shoes cheaper on the internet, but the customer service you get makes me come back year after year. :D They give me a discount because my dd's are in track. They always ask what school they run for. ;)

heartymax, Hope you start feeling better so that you can get in a good workout this weekend.

Have a wonderful day!

Good morning! I didn't sleep well last night again, but I put on my big girl pants and did Step Blast anyway. I'm glad I did, I feel great. I went to Starbucks on the way to work, which I almost never do, and was irritated because I was waiting in line at the drive-thru forever. But.. I got my drink for free, just because I was waiting so long! Suddenly I wasn't so irritated :D

Susan- I've been thinking of you an awful lot. I hope you're feeling the best you can under the circumstances. Take care of yourself.

Sue- I've got Cathe's cardio hits and classics volume 1 on my queue at Kineticflix! I'm looking forward to trying some of those older ones. I like the complex stuff, but I can see the fun in sort of zoning out and enjoying a good sweat. Plus, the outfits are a riot!

Laurie- I'm not sure if I can homeschool either, but I'm going to give it a shot :p I've decided to just take it a year at a time and see how it goes. Part of the fun is my inner teacher completely geeking out over all the fun things we can do together. I've already found a completely free and very fun looking preschool curriculum online. The first unit of study? Cows! How fun is that???

So... Cathe's coming to Lake Geneva (hopefully... she hasn't confirmed). If she does, I have got to find a way to go. I'm going to gush a little here, but that lady is really the one responsible for me finally getting to enjoy exercise, lose 60 pounds, and well... all that awesome stuff. And, hey, when is the next time she's going to be in WI? Um... never?!?! So, I've already made puppy-dog eyes at DH a number of times. It's the $$ that's the issue. Got to find it somewhere.

Have a great weekend, everyone.
