Buff Badgers Week of Feb. 20th

heartymax

Cathlete
DH and DS13 put together my elliptical this weekend. I got in a 30 minute ride on Sunday morning. It was a smooth ride but WOW---what a workout. I am moving slower than I normally would on my treadmill. I walk at 4.0mph on the treadmill and approx. 3.0 on the elliptical. I realized the treadmill is powered and I have to do this work so maybe that has something to do with it. I can tell you that my hamstrings were calling my name after that workout. I am trying to determine if I want to try to increase my speed of increase my time.....not sure yet. I am open to suggestions. DH says it is going to be an adjustment from regular walking but he plans to give it a try and try to start out with 20 minutes and hopefully increase his time.

This morning was Meso 2 Chest, Shoulders and Triceps. I think I have said this before but cross body kick backs are very uncomfortable so I either skip or sub another exercise for those. I forgot about the double wave load in Meso 2. I am not sure which has the most dread factor----double wave or drop sets.

I plan to enjoy the day off. I hope you all do the same.

Morning Ladies,

This morning was STS Disc 10 Chest, Shoulders & Biceps. Sunday was Weider X-Factor ST Wk 8, another great workout. Will be keeping these workouts in my rotation, but probably doing them once a week.

Susan, I think that the Weider workouts are more geared to increasing strength vs. endurance (like Insanity). They are both very similar, but Insanity does have workouts that are just cardio.

heartymax, I like the double wave load more. :D I just did the drop sets this morning. Of course this is the workout that she has drop sets and 21's in it. I'm fried.

Have a great day!

Good morning! I had a nice weekend. DH and I had a truly lovely dinner on Friday night, and I spent the rest of the weekend shopping, cleaning, and organizing. I have a goal to have nothing in my house "loose" or without a place to be by my birthday. My birthday's in October, so one would think that's enough time, but you should see our house :p

Friday I did the first five intervals of Afterburn.
Saturday was Step Jam.
Sunday I wasn't going to do anything, but ate too much at dinner and felt like doing something. I ended up doing just the step from Step, Jump, and Pump for a quick little workout.

I do not have the day off today, but DH took the day off to work on his business. I plan to do Bootcamp this afternoon.

Heartymax- Glad you got a good workout on your new toy :D I'd go for time instead of speed, but I have no real reason to say why that should be :)

Hello, Laurie!

Have a great day, everybody.

Hi ladies! Well, where did that weekend go?? Saturday I did S90 Total Body plus some lower body Pilates, Sunday was my rest day, today was S90 Core Dynamics and I did some Pilates Ab work of my own.

Heartymax, I too would try to increase speed and stay with 20 - 30mn workouts. Is this programmeable? Or os the tension able to be varied? Glad you liked it! Enjoy your day off!

Laurie, Thanks for the input!:)

Sam, so glad you had a nice time with your DH. Looks like you got some good workouts in over the weekend. I love Bootcamp!:)

Have a great day ladies! Susan

Heartymax - Have fun with your new elliptical! I love cross body kick backs because they isolate the triceps so well and I can assist if needed. You can't do that with other triceps exercises. Just have to make sure I don't hit myself in the face with the dumbbell (which I've done before).

Sam - I think your goal of having everything in its place is easier if you live alone. My kids and DH especially leave junk all over the place. Arghhh!

Laurie - I saw those Weider workouts at Walmart over the weekend but I didn't get them. Still feeling like I need to better utilize what I have first.

Hi, Susan! Still pilate-izing I see. How do you like that for a made-up word? Do you do the S90 warmup every time or your own thing?

Did Michele Dozois Peak 10 Cardio Strength on Saturday. Man, that is one tough workout! Lots of breaks required but I finished it. On Sunday I finished up Slow and Heavy with Bis and Tris. My butt felt like it deserved some attention so I also did walking lunges, dead lifts and 1 legged squats from Butts and Gutts. Last night I went for a 2 mile walk. DH was snoring terribly last night so I had to sleep in this morning instead of working out. Will do cardio tonight. Not sure what I'm doing next after S&H. Thinking of doing Cross Train Express but not sure when I'll start it. Going out of town Friday - Sunday so won't be able to workout. I might do circuits or full body endurance workouts instead.

Laurie---I hate 21's. Especially the push ups. I saw the Walmart for the Weider workouts too and realized that is what you have been doing. I feel so out of touch with different workouts because I basically just do Cathe. At least I get to hear about others from reading the forum. It appears that many on the forum are doing Weider and S90.

Susan--I can set my own workout on the elliptical but it does have some workouts already programmed. Right now---I don't need any extra tension:D.

Sam---glad you and DH had a great post Valentines celebration. It is always nice to have some romantic and quiet time together.

Sue---I think I should do the triceps on the stability ball (whatever move that is). I think it is similar and works the triceps really good.

This morning was 30 minutes on the elliptical and 10 minutes of Abs from Butts and Gutts. I was able to get in a mile in 18 minutes instead of 20 today so my speed increased for the first mile. I didn't keep up that speed at the end but it is a start. Using a machine is very different from aerobics and I haven't been on any machine since my treadmill broke and that was over a year ago. I said to myself whenever I took a break from my treadmill that I could never jump right back on and go 4.0 mph----usually a 3.5 and work my way back up. With that said, I am not getting discouraged with my new toy. My quads and hams were singing to me yesterday after being on the elliptical on Sunday. I was hesitant about getting on today since tomorrow is STS legs.

Oh well---back to work today. The weather is expected to be near high 50's and low 60's this week. No winter for us this year.

Morning Ladies,

This morning was Weider X-Factor ST Wk 8 and KCM's 30MTF Kickboxing Punch Mix.

heartymax, Sounds like a solid plan for organization. We where cleaning out our basement this weekend. DH is getting rid of a lot of stuff that he has been hanging onto. Loving it!

Susan, Those weekends do fly by fast. ;)

Sue, How are those Michele workouts. I keep thinking that I would like them because she incorporates kickboxing. Then I read that someone says there isn't that much kb in them.

heartymax, Sounds like you are having a great time with you new equipment. ;) I don't like the 21's for push ups either, I have to do those on my knees. I just can't keep good form for all of those. S90 and these Weider workouts would be a great combo. I think they work with any system really.

Have a great day!

Good morning. Well, I did Bootcamp yesterday and injured myself  During the first cardio segment of jumping jacks, I misstepped and rolled my ankle. It didn't hurt too bad at the time, and I did the rest of the workout, showered, made dinner, and almost forgot about it. Then, after sitting to eat dinner, I stood up to leave and go grocery shopping and it hurt! It got worse all night and today I'm limping a bit. I'm sure it will heal up in a couple days but I'm pretty grumpy about it. No exercise for me today.

Heartymax- Sounds like your legs are getting nicely worked on that elliptical. Keep it up, you'll be flying away on it in no time.

Laurie- Our basement isn't too bad, but we do have a bunch of stuff that we're hanging onto for no apparent reason. Our attic will be more of a challenge.

Susan- Weekends always just fly by, and this coming weekend is already almost completely booked. I'm telling myself all this craziness will make summer come faster.

Sue- I'd like to blame DH and DS, but I am by far the sloppiest person in the house. DH doesn't clean much, but he's neat as a pin.

Have a happy Fat Tuesday, everybody! I'm giving up snacking for Lent, so I just enjoyed a couple cherry Pop Tarts, one of my favorite snacks :D

Good morning! Today was the elliptical for 35mn and 4.4 miles. ;) Once again I chose the "Random" program. I guess I never learn! Ow, ow,ow!

Heartymax, glad you are enjoying your new machine! After 3+ years I still feel it in my hams and glutes!;)

Laurie, I was just thinking of how I miss kick-boxing today while I was on the elliptical. I was actually watching an infomercial for Tony's 10mn Trainer and they showed some KB. Maybe this weekend I'll sneak some in...;)

Sam, I was thinking of giving up sugar since I am doing pretty good so far.. but then again, maybe NOT! Sorry to hear you hurt your ankle. Hope it heals quickly for you!:(

Sue, when it comes to the S90 warm-up, somedays I do it, some times I do a mix of an S90/P90X warmup, somedays I just get on the elliptical and other days I turn on my music and dance!:D I have noticed I am leaner in my midsection and my thighs,so this S90must be working!

Have a great day ladies! Susan

Heartymax - We had 30 degrees and snow this morning so if you want I can send some your way. ;) I think it's supposed to melt later today though. I agree that it's fun to read about other workouts people are doing. I never would have heard of Weider if Laurie hadn't started doing it. There's so much out there it's overwhelming sometimes.

Laurie - I only own Peak Cardio Strength but I'm thinking of ordering More Peak Cardio Strength. You would like Michele's workouts. There isn't a lot of kickbox (more athletic type moves like burpees, plyo lunges, frog jumps) but they're very well done and she varies it quite a bit so you aren't doing the same move forever.

Sam - I've rolled my ankle plenty of times and I find rest and ice work wonders. One night after work I rolled my ankle on a pebble in the parking lot. I iced it all night and hopped around on 1 leg and it was fine by the next morning! Crazy stuff.

Susan - Great S90 results. Maybe I should start doing those workouts again.

Last night I did about 20 min. of Body Max 2 Cardio Timesaver and just wasn't feeling it. I don't know if it was the music, the moves or me (or all 3?) but I switched to Hiit Double Wave Pyramid and had a great workout. This is my early morning of dropping off DD for Jazz Band so no workout yet today. It's a busy night so I don't know if I'll be able to fit in a workout or not. It might have to be a rest day instead.

Sue---thanks for offering to send me some winter but I will pass. We have 4 snow days built into the calendar so I am looking forward to having those days shaved off! No snow dance on my end at this point.

Sam---How is your ankle?

Susan---4.4 miles on the elliptical in 35 minutes. That is very impressive to me.....as a newbie to this workout. I am not a runner----so I hope to be able to walk 2 miles in 30 minutes one day soon.

Laurie---Glad you like those Weider workouts. Your muscle are always "confused" since you are great about changing your workouts. Keep up the good work.

This morning was STS legs. I like the trisets but I have to admit that I am looking forward to Plyo Legs. Even though I have been using STS for a while, I have only done Meso 3 once and remember Plyo Legs being one awesome and tired and underestimated workout. I should finish week 3 of Meso 3 before spring break. I am contemplating doing undulating, pyramid down or the STS/LIS transformation rotation which should take me into summer break. I haven't decided yet. I do know that I have to stay focused so I will be "summer ready" at the beach.

Good morning. I have to be quick... lots of work to do. My ankle is still a little sore, so I'll probably do a mat or barre workout this afternoon. I got Tracy Anderson's Perfect Design Sequence 1 in the mail yesterday (complicated title!), so I may give that a try.

Have a great day!

Morning Ladies,

STS Disc 11 Back & Triceps for this mornings workout. ;)

Sam, Dang on getting injured! :( My youngest dd loves cherry poptarts also. :D Our basement is our attic, our house doesn't have easy access to the attic. You have to go into our walk in closet

Susan, I'm a kickboxing fanatic! :D I'm really enjoying the shadow boxing right now, using the weighted gloves really gives that upper body a workout.

Sue, That Peak 10 set that Michele put out is no longer available. Don't know what company she put those out with, but they pulled the plug. That set looked pretty good, maybe she will redo those workouts as singles. Is the More Peak Cardio Strength the new one she put out?

heartymax, I have not done the Plyo Leg workouts in a while either, so I'm with you on those. I loved them when I did them, but never think to do them for a lower body workout. Probably should do that more often. :D

Have a great day!

Hey there! Had a horrible nights sleep. I was up every hour on the hour from about midnight until I finally rolled out of bed at 5:30. I will be doing S90 Shoulders & Arms after work. I am soooo tired...

Sam, sorry to hear the ankle is still sore. Hopefully by tomorrow it'll start feeling better. I remember when I "popped" my calf muscle out a couple years back. That was hard to not do any cardio for about 3 weeks while it healed. It still flairs up every now and again...

Laurie, I would like to find some heavier weighted gloves. I wonder if Play-it-Again would have them... My DH is thinking of getting a part-time job at Scheel's Sports so he can get the employee discount! He loves the hunting & golf stuff though, not the exercise stuff! He has an interview tonight! Don't know when he thinks he'll have time for a part-time job but...

Sue, some workouts are like that. You think it's something you want to do then it turns out you're just not into it. That's when I do Pilates!:D And yes, I liked your word!;) It just makes me feel good and stretched, yet strong and toned at the same time!

I better get ready for work. You all have a great day! Susan

Laurie - Yes, More Peak Strength are her new ones. Sounds like I was lucky to order when I did.

Susan - Sorry to hear you had a bad night's sleep At least it's Hump Day! Are you off Thursday and Friday? My kids are off but not sure if that's a statewide thing.

Sam - Sorry to hear the ankle is still sore. Sending speedy recovery vibes via the internet.:)

Heartymax - Shaving 4 days off at the end sounds like something to look forward to. I need to do Plyo Legs again. Like you, I've only done them once.

Hi, Lala! Hope all is well with you.

DD16 was able to drive herself and DS14 to their meeting last night so I could workout. Feel kind of bad because they got lost but figured it was a good driving experience for her. It would have been better if DS was a better navigator. "Uh, yeah, turn here. No, not yet. Okay, turn right or left - I'm not sure which way." Anyway, they made it to their meeting and back home okay and only had to call once so I'd say it was a success. Anyway, I was able to do Power Hour. We have parent-teacher conferences tonight so I'm not sure if I'll get to do anything. Hopefully I will. I'm giving up baked goods for Lent. Candy is still okay. Can't give up sugar entirely and I don't do as much damage. It's usually only 1 or 2 small pieces a day.

Have a good evening everyone!

I am sitting here at work thinking I am going home and getting my jammies on! Think it'll be my "rest" day since I have no plans this weekend!

Susan--hope your body enjoyed the rest and you are totally energenized today.

Sam---you have added quite a few work outs to your collection.

Sue---I love baked goods too. A few years ago I would bake a pound cake every Sunday.... or try a new dessert.....yummy! My oldest son loved it.....but I knew I couldn't continue baking all that stuff. Good luck with your sacrifice for Lent.

Laurie--- You are almost to Meso 2.

Today was AfterBurn. I have such a good adrenaline rush after finishing this workout. Those sliding planks and push ups are tough. Can't do them all but I could do some. Never understood how Cathe expects us to do something so tough at the end when we are already tired:D

Morning Ladies,

Weider X-Factor ST Wk 8 was my morning wokrout.

Sam, Hope that ankle of yours starts feeling better soon.

Susan, I'm looking for gloves that are 1.5 lbs. I found one that was recommended by VF's, but they are not available until April. :( But I guess I can wait. Hope you where able to sleep better last night, and going home to get the jammies on sounds nice.

Sue, Once my oldest dd had gps on her phone, she didn't get lost. It happens to all of them, and you are right it is a good experience for them. ;) Baked goods would be hard for me. ;)

heartymax, I'm actually starting Meso 2 next week, I don't feel like I need a break. Basically I'm skipping all the rest weeks for this STS rotation, but at the end of Meso 3 I will take a week off. The only thing I will probably do is easy yoga and stretching.

Have a great day!

Good morning ladies! Yes, I am feeling more awake today! Got up and did S90 Cardio Challenge. :)

Heartymax, I love baking, in fact last night I made them brownies( my favorite). I did allow myself a small one.

Laurie, Right now I wear the 1 pound gloves, then in my hands I hold these 2# weights I have that have little handles on them. It works for now but would like a set of 2-3# gloves.

Sam, hope your ankle is better!

Sue, my DD should be driving by the end of the year. She says she is scared because she is a little ditzy! I tell we all are but we can still drive!:)

Have a good day all! Stay strong- Susan

Good morning! No workout again yesterday. I could have done a mat workout but I was so tired! I ended up taking a snooze on the couch instead  I must have not gotten enough sleep the night before. Anyway, today I plan to do something. My ankle feels pretty good once I've walked on it a bit. It's still a tiny bit sore right when I wake up.

Heartymax- Kineticflix is a wonderful thing. I'm getting to try out all these workouts without having to buy them. The good news is that I've discovered fewer workouts that I'd actually want to purchase than ones that have gotten added to my wishlist. I've also realized that Cathe is truly my favorite instructor :D

Susan- My mom used to always call me a dingbat... totally lovingly, of course ;) Anyway, I can drive just fine. Just don't ask how many times I've locked my keys in the car! I hope you had a good rest day.

Sue- I thought about giving up baked goods, too. I decided on snacks because my mom's birthday always falls during Lent and I have to end up cheating or dissing my mom :p Anyway, good luck! Last year when I gave up all sweets I lost a few pounds and my cravings for them eased up, too.

Laurie- I think the gloves I have are just 1#. Not sure. They're the cute pink ones that came with Jessica Smith's Knockout Body. They've been okay for me but kind of flop around on my hands.

Yesterday was a long day. I was all grouchy without any snacks. I can't believe how much I must've been eating! I've found I do better with clean eating if I have three big, satisfying meals and don't snack, so hopefully this will help me get back into that habit.

Anyway, then I had to sing for church with the choir, and then we had rehearsal after church because we sing on Sunday, too. I got home at about 9:30, and since I couldn't have a snack... I had a beer :D

Have a great day, everyone!
