Buff Badgers Week of April 18th

Cathlete
Hope everyone had a great weekend! We got plenty of rain on Saturday but enjoyed a beautiful sunny day in the high 60's yesterday. No workout for me this weekend, but I made up for this morning. I did STS chest and back for 68 minutes, followed by Hiit 30/30 and then finished off with abs from Power Hour. Since it is spring break, I can relax a while and not worry about rushing out to work. On my list of things to do today is go to the sports store to purchase heavier weights. I needed heavier weight this morning for back so I decided to remove some weights from my 20lbs weighted vest so it would be 10 lbs and wrapped it around my 50lb barbell for a good 60lbs barbell row workout. Hey---it was the only creative thing that I could think off to keep from lifted the same weight as last week. I need to get 30lb dumbells and few more plates for my barbell. Weights are soooo expensive but I am loving STS so I gotta do it.

Have a great day ladies!

Laurie suggested that I try the undulating rotation after this. Did anyone try it and how did you like it compared to following each Meso in order. I checked out the rotation and looks pretty good. I definitely plan to continue using STS through the end of June.

Morning Ladies,

S90 Core Dynamics on Saturday, Cardio Challenge on Sunday and Legs this morning.

DD14's Solo went really well, her duet was ok. ;) We had to leave before we got the results, but she should find out today. DD18's track meet was cancelled on Friday, because of the weather. I'm wondering if they will have on tomorrow? Was quite surprised to see the white stuff on the ground this morning, but then again it is spring in WI.

heartymax, WTG on getting those creative jucies going. I probably would have done the same thing. ;) That is great that you need to go and get heavier weights.

Have a great day!

Heartymax - I'm surprised you have any energy left after STS & HIIT this morning! Weights ARE expensive, aren't they? DH and I bought these adjustable dumbbells 12 years ago that along with my platemates can go from 5-52.5 pounds. Saves a lot on storage. Only drawback is sometimes I can't switch weights as fast as Cathe does.

Laurie - Congrats to DD14 on her solo and duet performances! I'm sure she did great. DS' track practice and meet tomorrow are already both cancelled because of the weather. I think we all moaned when we got up and saw snow this morning. That's why I tell DH I won't put my snow brush away until May 10 (Because we had snow on May 10 one year!)

Here's how my weekend went:

Friday night - STS #23 Legs
Saturday - Kimberly Spreen Absolute Kickboxing - Only did 2 of 3 kickbox segments because of STS Legs the day before. Did all 3 combat intervals though - Fun! :D
Sunday - STS #24 Back & Biceps - Did 10 bicep curls with a 45 pound barbell which I've never been able to do before. Thanks STS!

I'm now officially done with Meso 2 and after cardio tonight will begin my recovery week. Wanted to do cardio this morning but I overslept! My alarm clock wasn't tuned in to a radio station (must have happened when I dusted yesterday) so I didn't hear it go off. Luckily I woke up at 5:59 which is about my normal time to wake up if I don't workout and everyone made it to work/school on time.

Still doing South Beach. It was really hard yesterday watching the kids eat donuts after church for Hospitality Sunday. I could have coffee at least. The hard work is paying off. I'm down 6 pounds on the scale but probably more than that. My pants are loose again and it feels great! :D

Happy Snowy Monday! Hi to Susan, Lala and Karen.

So you all got snow today?? Not here, but we got that on Saturday...it was a great day to stay in! Last week was busy, so I didn´t check in much  sunday I did a 7.3 mile run! I think that´s the farthest I´ve gone in my life! I´m still excited about it!

Heartymax, we must´ve done the same STS today, but I did NOT add any Hiit  I did, however add some abs from butts and guts!

Laurie congrat to DD. I miss those days!

Sue, you got some great workouts in this weekend. It´s been a long time since I´ve done kickboxing and I forgot how much I love to do it! 45 lbs!!!! you go! Wow, that is great! Congrats on the weight loss!

Hi Sue and Karen!

I am exhausted! I just finished Intensity. I usually do the step and HiIt Low premix. Now I know why-----that Hiit High is very intense. I wasn't sure I was going to get through it.

lala----7.3 miles is a lot!! WOO HOO!

Sue----You are just a few discs behind me. WTG on finishing Meso 2. I really saw some good results in that Meso cycle----what about you? Enjoy your recovery week.

Laurie----I am wishing for no more snow this spring for you ladies!

hi karen and susan!

Good morning ladies! My weekend was busy. Saturday I did the elliptical and ab work. Sunday was STS Total body and my chest is still sore!:( Yesterday was P90X Kenpo. Today is supposed to be the elliptical, however, DS had me up from 2:30am - 5am with his cold/coughing. So, we'll see how I feel after work as to whether I do the elliptical or switch to pilates! OR, take a nap!

Heartymax, you are doing so great!

Laurie, congrats to DD on her performance.

Sue, way to go on SB! It's great when those pants get loose! Great motivation!

HI Lala!
HI Karen!

Can't believe we are to get 6-10 inches of snow tonight! I am not a happy person! DH went and got the snow blower out of storage this morning. I told him I refuse to use it!

Gotta go check of my DS. He stayed home today.

Take care- Susan

Morning Ladies,

S90 Cardio Challenge for me this morning.

Sue, Congrats on the weight loss! That is so great, and you don't have that far to go until you can incorporate some of those carbs back into the program. I remember that storm in May, we had thundersnow. Couldn't get to work, because we had fire trucks blocking our driveway.

Lala, I think your snow is coming today! ;)

heartymax, Good job on the Hiit, yep all of those workouts are tough.

Susan, These changing temps sure do bring on the sicknesses. Both of mine have gone throught the colds. I wouldn't want to be snow blowing either. ;)

Have a great day!

Heartymax - I've definitely noticed strength gains in Meso 2 and my arms are more toned but I don't know whether to credit Meso 2 or a cleaner diet. Probably both. My legs are my big problem area and wish I saw more progress in that area. Looking forward to plyo legs helping there. Are you enjoying your spring break so far?

Laurie - As far as carbs, I miss my bowl of cereal in the morning the most. Why were the fire trucks blocking your driveway? I hope lightening didn't catch anyone's house on fire. Speaking of changing temps, I am FREEZING today at work. Turned on my space heater for maybe the 3rd time this winter.

Susan - I hope DS feels better soon. That stinks that he couldn't sleep (or you either). You may change your mind about using the snow blower once the snow comes. ;) Maybe you'll luck out and it'll melt fast.

Lala - 7.3 miles is fantastic! :D

Hi, Karen. Hope everything is okay with you.

Last night I did 30-30 HIIT and abs from PS-Legs. The cardio was hard because I'm not eating many carbs for energy so I gave myself an extra 15 seconds rest between intervals (30 seconds before the last one!). My recovery week is coming at a good time. 3 more work days until spring break! Yippee!

Hey gang! Just got home from work and am debating on napping or getting on the elliptical. The crappy weather outside is not helping my decision!

Sue, I wish it was melting but not yet! My legs are my trouble zone too. When I keep my diet cleaner they do look better. Just wish I was blessed with those naturally lean legs!

Lala, I must congratulate you on going 7.3 miles!! That is fantastic! I really want to get back into running but I have been in a funk lately and hope to get back to normal soon.

I did order Cathe's 4-Day Split series. Do any of you know of a rotation that uses these? I did a search but nothing came up. Or have any of you made one for yourself?

Take care and see you tomorrow! At least DS seems to be feeling better, he should sleep like a rock tonight!

Susan

Plyo Legs---what a cardio workout:D. I was tooo tired to even do an ab workout:eek:

Sue---Glad that the SB diet is going great! I can always tell the difference in my belly area when I cut down on the amount of bread, sugars that I eat. I remember several years ago I cut out junk food (candy, chips, ice cream, cookies) and limited the amount of bread, rice and potatoes that I ate----I saw remarkable changes in my body. My diet has been okay lately---could be better-----i definitely credit Meso 2 for the increased toned that I am seeing in my upper body. My way of eating is similar to it has been in the past but STS has brought about better results for me.

Susan---hope your son is feeling better. Crappy weather can make you not wanna work out. Sounds like your chest muscles can use a break anyway.

Laurie---how much longer are you doing the S90 rotation?

Hi lala and Karen!

Morning Ladies,

S90 Back & Biceps, really a great workout. This one is the longest of the S90 workouts, coming in around 58 min. Really tough, but he covers all areas of the back. He does two back exercises, and one biceps. Four circuits, each circuit done three times. I had to drop my weight selection on some of the bicep exercises.

Sue, They had the fire truck there because the power company was working on the lines. I think they where there just in case something caught fire. I'm sure you are on the carb countdown, it really must be hard not having the energy to give your all to a workout.

Susan, I found the 4-Day split rotation that Cathe came up with. It is the Nov '07 ... 4 Day Split, and she includes yoga/pilates/stretching into it also. It looks like it would be a lot of fun, and you can include your eliptical in it too. ;) The weight work in 4DS is great, and you will probably like the step workouts. I had a hard time with those, and never tried them. She didn't do that great of a job with cueing. But people have said that once you get it down, they are a lot of fun. Did you get a lot of snow?

heartymax, I love those Plyo Leg workouts, glad you are enjoying them also. I just realized yesterday that I finished day 30 of the rotation, and that means that I have 60 days left (well minus the one I did today!)

Have a great day!

Hi! Another busy week. Started guitar lessons yesterday!! Ran 3 miles and tues did STS 34. This am was plyo legs, but decided to sleep in and have a rest day.

Laurie, that S90 sounds great...did that last one you did get boring with the repetitions?

Heartymax, haven´t done intensity in a while, but it IS intense""

Susan, boy, a lack of sleep can really put me off...it´s hard to decide to nap, or to exercise which makes me wake up.

Sue, keep up the work on that diet! I noticed the most changes in my body with the Meso 2, but now with the undulating rotation, I see even more changes! But I´m actually looking forward to finishing...2 more weeks!

Today was the first 5 intervals of Imax 3....who told me to do this workout after Plyo Legs....what was I thinking:rolleyes: I added on stability ball abs from butts and gutts and called it a day.

lala---enjoy your guitar lessons. Trying something that you want to learn brings so much joy to your life. As an adult, you know you are doing it because you want to!

Laurie---S90 Back and Biceps must be one tough workout if it causes you to have to drop weight. I am finding that the upper body workouts in MESO are also long...65 and 68 minutes which I find to be waaaay to long. So, I don't mind doing 3 of 4 sets on about 2 of the exercises to cut down on the time.

Have a great day!

HI gang! Yes, we got a lot of snow. 7.8" actually! I was up at 4:30 yesterday shoveling. It was heavy and I was sweating! Then of course, the plow came by just as I finished and I had more to do! I also did an hour of Pilates last night. Today is PlyoX.

Laurie, thanks for finding that for me. Sounds like it's right up my ally!

Lala, we bought our DS a new acoustic guitar for his birthday. I have not found a teacher for him yet though. What kind of guitar do you have?

I better get to work! Have a great day ladies!

Stay strong- Susan

Happy Friday Ladies! I can't believe my spring break is almost over. I enjoyed being able to organize closets, gather my donations for charity and actually get them dropped off, get some cleaning done and take a mid day nap when I wanted to.

I am half through Meso 3 now. Just finished shoulders, biceps and triceps. Well----I got my weights confused this morning when doing biceps. I started out lifting 25lbs. and was trying to figure out why I was stuggling to get 7 reps. I made it to 6 (not sure how) on 2 sets and 5 on one. I went back to check last weeks weights again to see if i looked and it wrong and sure enough --I realized that last week I lifted 20lbs for biceps. Then I felt much better as I was wondering why I didn't feel as strong today. I was not scheduled to be lifting 25 lbs.

Susan----can't imagine that much snow this late in April.

Hope everyone has a great Easter!

Morning Ladies,

Busy day at work yesterday, some number crunching with the boss. He is now in the number crunching meeting, and I think he is leaving after that. :D S90 Ultimate Ball yesterday, and Tabata Inferno this morning.

Lala, The repition does not get boring, because you really don't rest. You go from one exercise to another and then repeat. I sweat almost as much doing these weight workouts, as I do with some Insanity workouts.

heartymax, It really does seem like you just started STS. Glad you didn't have strength loss, and it was just an error. Good for you for lifting that heavy weight on biceps for that many reps.

Susan, Dang on all the snow, I'm sure that had to be tough lifting that wet snow. Glad you like the rotation.

Have a great day!

Hi, guys. Happy Good Friday! My last day before spring break so I'm in a super good mood today. :D Well, for that reason and also because . . . . drum roll please . .. . I LOST 10 POUNDS! I'm down 10 pounds in 2 weeks on phase 1 of South Beach. I've been super committed and haven't cheated once but still I did not expect the scale to drop so quickly for me. It really goes to show me that sugar is my problem. I was eating way too much of it and now I know that I have to limit my sweet treats to special occasions. I have a lot more to lose so need to keep going although I don't expect to lose so quickly on phase 2.

Laurie - My energy has actually been okay. I had no trouble at all doing STS. It's only during really intense cardio (like Cathe's 30-30 HIIT) that I noticed I needed more rest between intervals. That's a tough workout anyway for me though - carbs or no carbs. So if your boss is leaving early today does that mean you can leave early, too?! My new boss doesn't let us leave early for a holiday like our old one used to. Guess we haven't trained him right yet. ;)

Heartymax - 25 pounds for biceps is awesome! Holy strength gains, Batman! You're feeling today how I will probably be feeling next Friday (sad for spring break to end). I'll also be missing DD and DH like crazy. . .

Susan - Ugh! on the snow. Hopefully that's it now. I LOVE the 4DS step routines - both the high impact and low iimpact ones. They did take a little while to learn but are definitely worth it.

Lala - Great workouts. Sounds like I'll have to look into doing an undulating rotation after doing an S90 one.

Hi, Karen. Hope all is well with you and your family.

Did TLT Finding Your Core with Susan Harris last night. Good recovery week workout with a lot of different exercises. I got the TLTs when they first came out and didn't like them so DH was going to sell them on Ebay for me. Well, they've been sitting in our office for at least a couple of years now and nothing has happened so I decided to give them another try. I'm going to hang onto them now. Don't know what's on the agenda for the weekend workout-wise. I want to do cardio tonight. That's the only thing I've figured out so far.

HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE!

Congrats on the weight loss Sue. You are truly committed. I admit that sugar and junk food is my problem. I see amazing results also when I cut out all junk food and minimize the bread and rice. Your diet and STS is one great combination!! Enjoy your spring break! It is back to work for me on Tuesday!

Laurie---hope your boss lets you leave a little early today.

Today was the day to help my oldest clean his room. Of course, he doesn't want help because he wants to shove things under the bed, hide things and not really clean up. That is exactly why I told him that I am coming in his room to do a thorough cleaning today.

Heartymax - You made me laugh! That is exactly what my DS does when I tell him to clean his room or put his laundry away! Glad I'm not the only one. :D
