Buff Badgers Thursday

Good morning,

Slow start for me today. My sinuses are killing me. Does anyone else have chronic trouble with that? Just zaps my energy.

Anyway, I am slowly beginning to get back into exercise. I did cardio yesteray and rested today. My ankle got a little stiff but I am making sure to take it slow. I have an appointment with a sports med doc on Tuesday, hopefully he can give me some advice on how much and what type of exercise I can be doing. I want to do this right and not re-injure myself. My goal is run either a full or half marathon next May--they have one here in Madison.

Did any of you catch The Biggest Loser Tuesday night? I watched last season so I had to watch this one. Being a dietitian, I call watching it "work-related":p. It was ok. I was looking at Jillian Michael's (one of the BL trainers)new book. Anyone read it yet? She also is coming out with some new DVD workouts...I wonder how they'll be?

I hope you all have a good day!

Good morning,

Thea, I too have a lot of sinus and allergy trouble. It comes and goes. My doctor has me taking Claritin, and that seems to be working so far this season. Sometimes nothing works though! And I've also considered running a half or full marathon. I think a half might be about my limit, though. I ran in a 10k in May and REALLY struggled. I don't think I'm built to run the super-long distances, but I might try the Indy mini marathon next May with a friend of mine. I'd love to try the Madison half, but we always go out of town over Memorial Day. I started marathon training at the beginning of this summer, with the idea that I'd run the Chicago marathon, but longer runs kept giving me migraines. Oh well. I wasn't heartbroken to stop :)

This morning I did Imax 3, and I'm glad it's over. I only had to pause the DVD a couple of times, less than I usually do. I think the cool weather helps.

It's almost Friday! Have a great day.

Ellen

Morning BB's,

Yesterday I did a 5 mile interval run instead of doing MIC. May have more enjoyment doing it tomorrow. We will see. Today is HSTA and a segment of Coremax.

Sue, I hear you on the running around. I haven't been home from 5:30 until 7:30 every day this week. Tonight my oldest needs to be at church by 6:45 and I have choir practice after church. The girls want to do volleyball also. We will have to see.

My oldest DD had chorus auditions and she was chosen as an Alto, and recommended to the Jazz Choir. She is very happy. I am also an Alto in a Madgrical group and in church choir. So I will be able to help her out. Guess the singing gene has been passed on. :D

Thea, I couldn't watch the Biggest Loser on Tuesday. The cable was doing some crazy things after the storm, and we didn't have very good reception. I was recording it, but the recording was terrible. We where able to catch the last part of it though. I had heard that her new DVD's where kickboxing. At least that is what I thought I remember hearing.

Jill, we are thinking of you, and take care of yourself. Come back when you are ready.

Guess I have rattled on long enough here. :+

Have a great day!

Laurie

Thea - I don't have sinus trouble but I had a sinus infection once and on a pain scale of 1-10 it was about an 8! Didn't see The Biggest Loser last night. Don't know what time it was on but over the summer I've gotten into Veronica Mars so I had to watch that last night.

Jogged 4 and a half miles this morning with my new iPod mini hubby bought me for an anniversary present. It is so cool! Need to get an armband now so I don't have to carry it. Afterwards I did 200 walking lunges in my house. The cats both sat and stared at me like they were thinking "What is she doing NOW?" The funny thing is I'd probably get the same reaction from our kids if they were up early enough to see Mom workout. Maybe I'll wait until they're teenagers and then do walking lunges in front of their friends and really embarass them. ha ha }(

Survivor Guatemala tonight!

Sue

Laurie, Biggest Loser was ok. It might be better once I get to know the contestants. I often question what kind of message they are conveying to the average person watching it, you know? They are losing like 20# or more that first week which is crazy. I know most of it is water. I bet they lose a lot less next week or maybe even stay the same?

Sue, sounds like you like Veronica Mars. I watched it a couple of times and thought it was pretty good. I keep forgetting to tune in though!

Have a good day everyone.

Hello BB
Today was KPC from Fit TV. I wanted to watch the Biggest Loser but the storm knocked out the direct TV, I will have to catch it next week.
Thea-good luck with training for a marathon, I don't think that I could do that. I want to do a cycling race. I just need to get a bike and getv out on the road but we are still fixing up our house so I think the bike will have to wait till the spring...however, I might get an exercise bike for christmas so I can bike inside all winter.

I hope all the BB are doing well.

Thea - Do you know if there is a Badgerland Strider group or similar in your area? DH joined that and they offer a marathon training program for the Lakefront Marathon. He ran his first marathon last year at age 53. He did another one in the Spring and is now training for Lakefront again. 4 years ago the farthest he ran was Al's Run.

Hi BBs. :) Tomorrow IS the day I will start working out again. I haven't exercised since the 7th and am feeling like a slug. :( I HATE this......knowing I have lost so much from taking a week off. I'll probably just do Low Impact Step and hope to get through it. What do you guys think about the announcement of the new workouts? I don't know if I'll be preordering any. I like it better when they are announced closer to the release date. I'm not thrilled on paying for something and not getting it until 8 months later. I think I just feel negative about everything these days....maybe I'll think differently next week.

Thank you for the kind words Laurie.

I was so upset when our power went out Tuesday and I missed the Biggest Loser! Luckily I was able to find someone to tape it for me. I will watch it this weekend. Our power in East Troy was out from 5:30pm until 12:03am. Yes, I know the exact time because I stupidly didn't go around and turn all the lights off! DUH. So we all gotten woken up to reset our alarms.

Tonight I'm watching Survivor. I have always hated reality shows, but I started watching Survivor 2 (the one where Tina wins) on OLN and got hooked. I'm going to watch tonight and see if I like it or if it was a fluke.

"The cold" must be going around. I woke up today with a bad sore throat, headache, and stuffy sinuses. My ex husband and son have been sick also, so it's no surprise I guess. It's not too bad, but I'm already sick of sucking on Hall's drops.

Sue my son is trying to talk me into buying him an Ipod Nano so he can "give" me his Ipod Mini. I mentioned that I should probably get one and stop lugging around the cd player on my waist belt. I said thanks, but no thanks. I'm trying to save more money now and that's not a necessity. 40 is right around the corner for me (yikes!) and I figure I "only" have about 30 more years to save for retirement lol.

So my big news....(aside from the relationship thing) is that I'm getting a dog. I've been thinking about it for a couple of months but we haven't found the right dog yet. I didn't want to get a puppy and have to deal with the puppy stuff, but now I'm changing my mind and I think we will get a puppy. This is the "candidate" :

http://www.petfinder.com/pet.cgi?action=2&pet=5041318

The rescue lady is going to email me tonight with more details about his "parents" and stuff, but I'm pretty sure we're going to get him. Anyone have any advice? I work from home, but he will be crate trained right away. I don't want to have him roaming the house while I'm not home, but luckily that won't be that often. Except Mondays when I have to work at our Greenfield office. I'm nervous about training a puppy.....I don't want doggy doo on my carpet!

I can almost surely guarantee that I will be pre-ordering the new workouts! Will check out the details tomorrow. I like that it is a smaller series. Hardcore was just too many all at once. I am just hoping that she doesn't abandon the pre-mixes! Still not sure how this new arrangement is a good thing. Do any of you understand what they will be contributing? Will they be mass marketing her workouts?

Jill - I emailed you regarding the puppy!

Hi everybody,

Jill, great to have you back. I hope everything is going okay for you.

And I have to say, I don't even know you, but I'm excited for you to get a puppy :) Have you had dogs before? Your "candidate" looks like a sweetheart. We have a black lab retriever, and she has the sweetest disposition and most gentle nature of any dog I've had. From what I've learned, that type of nature seems to be the breed standard. I'm wondering if the rescue group maybe has started the dog on training. They may have started him toward a routine that could make it easier on you and help him learn more quickly. I hope it works out for you.

I also have to say, I've watched Survivor since the beginning and was pretty bored by the last season, but I watched tonight and was interested the whole time. I can't believe the problems the men in particular were having physically. They were so lucky to have the nurse on their team.

I'm pumped about Cathe's announcement. She sounded really excited too. I wonder how much the DVDs will cost in the presale?

Have a great night,

Ellen

Ellen-thanks for the nice words. :) Yes, I am going through a very tough time right now, but I will be fine. I have to admit that the idea of "celebrating" my 40th birthday in Feb. alone is not appealing. LOL.

I have had a dog my entire life except the last 4 years. My beloved yellow lab mix, Bo, died in 2001 from cancer. It was a horrible, long, painful, death and it really affected me. I have not been ready for a new "member of the family" until now. So yes, I know what is involved with having a dog. But maybe not a puppy, so I'm nervous a bit. When I got Bo, my last dog, who was with me for 12 years, I picked her up with my ex-H after we SAW her get her by a car. She was the perfect dog and we were sooo lucky. So I'm nervous.

Okay on a happier note........does anyone want to get together anytime soon? I'm proposing Wed. 9/28. Anyone??
