Morning BB's,

Today is the 5am Fitness Fiesta on the Aug05 rotation. I won't go into all the things that need to be done on this, but Sue and I should have really sore abs. x(

Yesterday was the final day of Christmas party get togethers for us. DH's relatives got together. My SIL and I both agreed our DH's relatives are crazy. I wanted to leave as soon as his mother started complaining. x(

Have a great day!

Laurie

Hi Everyone!

It's good to be back home. The weather is spectacular and it's good to see the sun! WI was fun, but I longed for my own bed. Took down the Christmas tree & decorations yesterday and went for a bike ride. Also worked out Sat. & Sun. Did HSChallenge and last night did Kristen's STW2. I plan to do some cardio and L&G tonight.

Can't wait to get my new vids. That sure will motivate me to conquer those night time workouts.

Gotta get to work! Good workouts Everyone!

Cynthia

Good morning,

Today I'm planning a three or so mile run after work. I brought my workout clothes with me so I couldn't go home and find an excuse not to go to the gym.

I'm trying sparkpeople.com to track my nutrition and exercise (there's at least one other thread on this board about it). It's a cool site; I just hope I can find the discipline to keep up with it. I've gained a few pounds in the last couple of months because my eating has been out of control, so I need to be smarter about food again.

Cynthia, I envy your Arizona weather! My boyfriend was watching a golf tournament taking place in Maui last night... I know if I had a chance to live somewhere continually sunny and warm, I would :) How are you adjusting to no longer having seasons?

Have a great day,

Ellen

Good morning!

Laurie - 5 AM "Fitness Fiesta". Wow - you're a better person than I am! I can't envision a universe in which I could fiesta at 5AM, fitness or no. :)

Sounds like everyone is making the move away from the holidays. We took all of our Christmas stuff down this weekend, too. It always looks so "blank" in the house after Christmas.

I did PUB on Saturday, and (gulp) IMAX 3 on Sunday. Gosh there's a lot of impact in that one. Whew. My knees really don't like two legged jumps on and off the step. I usually stop and stare dumbly during those parts, LOL. I suppose I should think of some modification. I don't have BAD knees, just kind of twinge-y and I don't want to push it TOO much.

Have a great day everyone.

:) - Sarah

RE: Good morning!

Hi Sarah,

My knees get twingey with Imax 3 too. I don't ever jump off the step; I just step down. Maybe you could try that? I don't think it takes away from the intensity at all. If anything, it may keep the intensity up because you can give your all to the interval, without worrying about tripping on the step (which I do from time to time! :) ).

Ellen

Thanks, Ellen

Glad I'm not the only one who has reservations about those type of moves. That is one intense video. Two legged jumps onto and off of the step just give me the hives. I always feel kind of wimpy not doing what Cathe & Crew are doing. But for that particular video, I think I need to come up with some modification such as you describe. Thank you! :)

Buff Badger!

Morning Ladies!

My weekend didn't go as planned and I only got one workout in. It was Strength in Movement with Jen Carman (from the old Firm days) and was one of the TLTs. OMG it was a GREAT workout! Total body and very good for the core. I can't believe I'm not sore. I can't wait to try another one. I plan to do Finding your Core today. :)

Laurie-LOL @ your MIL complaining. I'm sure you're glad the gatherings are finally over!

Cynthia-nice weather. *sigh*. We haven't had sun in over two weeks!

Ellen-I have the pc version of fitday and really like it. Of course it wasn't free like spark is. :(

Sarah-I had to get rid of Imax3 for that very reason. I'm almost 40 and my knees were achy every time I did it. :(

Sue!!! if you check in here-----I've tried to email you back and it keeps getting rejected!! I will pm you here so be sure to check it. (I'd sent you two replies and the first one comes back as "rejected for policy reason"?)

As I said I'll be trying Finding Your Core today and am looking forward to it. My workout buddy won't be able to come over until Wed. Her husband is out of town and she has childcare issues going on. She is trying to work from home (real estate) and it's not going well. I don't know how anyone could work at home with a 2 y/o!!!

HAve a fit day!
jill

ETA-Sue you don't have PM set up here. It said I could email you. So I'm not sure where it went lol.

RE: Buff Badger!

Okay I am having major problems getting email through to Sue so I'm just going to post it here. Many of you know about VF and are members there. I am so sick of the Cathe bashing that's been going. So I posted a thread here that I am so upset over all the bickering that I'm not going to read any Cathe threads there anymore, and how SAD is that? Well people posted some really snotty replies to me I am now not visiting VF at all anymore. I go to these sites to get support and for fun, not to get all stressed out. Sue had said that she'd seen my post and totally agreed. This is the email I can't get back to her:

Sue, I haven't been back to VF since I read some of the totally snotty replies to my post. Accusing me of starting another Cathe thread! WhatEVER. some of those people are so bitchy I just can't take it anymore. The same thing happened when I posted to a thread complaining about the postal increase. I explained that we provide postage paid envelopes to our clients so they can mail their stuff to us, and we are charged the regular postage PLUS .60 per envelope! The stupid guy that works for the P.O. posted a really mean reply about how I should try walking to deliver all my packages and see how I like it. I don't plan to go there again--at least not until this whole Cathe thing is over. It's not worth the stress.

Thanks for saying you agreed with me! My whole point of that post was how upsetting it was to read all the bickering, and I was accused of starting a thread about it again, and how I shouldn't tell people they can't express their opinion.

I've had enough!

I'm sorry for taking up the Badger thread with this, but I can't get it to Sue any other way lol.
Jill

RE: Buff Badger!

Jill, You don't need to be sorry for posting it to this thread. I don't go to that site anymore just for that reason. I only go to look at reviews now. I feel your frustration because I have felt it in the past. Only I never had the courage to post.

Laurie

RE: Buff Badger!

Hi Jill,

I stopped visiting VF for the same reason. I first learned about Cathe from VF years and years ago. I stopped visiting both VF and Cathe.com for awhile when I stopped exercising when my son was a baby and working mom/exercising was too stressful. When I started working out again within the last year, I started visiting VF and Cathe.com again. I couldn't stomach the Cathe bashing at VF either (even before all the brouhaha about the pre-sale). Every thread I would click on regarding Cathe at VF was very critical, and sometimes just mean-spirited. I got tired of what I perceived to be the Cathe backlash there. I guess she was number 1 for so long, the inevitable "tearing down" had begun.

I don't believe that Cathe or SNM are infallible, but I do believe that Cathe makes top quality videos that I can do for years on end and they still seem fresh and effective. I think Cathe gets bashed for her intensity level and impact. Well, I personally choose not to do some of the impact in her vids (IMAX 3), I still feel I get a kick-butt workout and her professionalism in instructing on form in weight lifting is great.

I just love that Cathe posts rotations every month, answers questions when she has time, and continues to produce great videos. Huzzah to Cathe.

Thanks for bringing this up, Jill. I have been feeling the same for a long time. - Sarah

RE: Buff Badger!

Wow! I didn't know so many other people felt the same way. I think the mods there need to do something to tone it down. Look how many of just US have stopped going there!

Hi Jill

Yes, I didn't realize others viewed VF as I do. I had visited there since 1997 or so. That's how I first learned about Cathe, CIA, Kari Anderson, etc. When I "left" after the birth of my son, Cathe was worshipped as a goddess on VF. When I returned recently, I noticed the worm had decidedly turned. And while I suppose such a transition is inevitable, I feel more "at home" here at Cathe.com. I guess the folks at VF can continue to exercise their freedom of speech, but I don't choose to visit there and read that stuff right now. I don't want anyone raining on my Cathe parade.

I think she's great, and even my 4 year old knows who she is. Even my husband knows, although he oddly doesn't like it that she spells her name Cathe but pronounces it Cathy. I think he thinks it should have a silent "e". Weirdo. :)

RE: Buff Badger!

Thanks for posting this, Jill. I did receive 2 other emails you sent this morning so I think the problem was you used the word "bitch" (you potty mouth, you ;-) )!

Anyway, I'm glad others feel the same way. It's sad that such a vocal minority wreck it for the rest of us. Yes, I believe in free speech but that doesn't mean I want to read whining, complaining, bickering, you-name-it, etc. posts.

Sue

Laurie - 800 situps this morning was insane! I thought I'd go crazy with all the counting. (ie. 50 this, 100 that) Needless to say, I'm not a fan of the 5 am Fiesta. Yes, I burned a lot of calories but found it very BORING IMHO.

Tomorrow's workout is a toughie. Have to start psyching myself up today. :)

Sue

RE: Good morning!

Sarah - I think Imax3 has replaced MIC as my most feared & dreaded workout! If for no other reason it's the impact. I've tripped (more than once) on those hops onto and over the step (interval 1) and those jacks on the step. I'm 41 and I don't know how many more years I'll be able to do without modifying.

Sue

Sue re: imax 3

"Feared and dreaded" - LOL! :) That's about how I feel, too. All that jumping - man!! I think it probably sounds like a herd of elephants downstairs when I'm working out upstairs. Those taps onto the steps, the flying jacks, the tuck jumps - eeek! I'm getting post traumatic stress disorder just thinking about it. :) You must be in amazing shape to not modify at all. I bow to you! :D

Sue LOL!!! Tell your IT guys I'll try to keep the swearing to a minimum lol. Oops!!!

I just finished TLT's Finding Your Core. Uh, I found it! Holy moly I think I will have some sore buns tomorrow, too. Good workout and I finally found something to replace The Bar Method. Those are good workouts, but I can't stand that Burr lady. Ugh.

Hello you Buff Badgers!! I was called into work this morning so I am on my way downstairs to start my 2nd week of the January Roatation. I am supposed to do 400 walking lunges! I am dreading this! But I shall conquer them! I am doing my NordicTrack for 45 minutes, then my lunges, then 500 crunches. When I told my husband this he had a look of awe on his face. :) My daughter thinks either I or Cathe is crazy. I had a good weekend. My rest day yesterday was wonderful!:) Well ladies, I'll let you know how those lunges turn out..... off I go! Susan

>all. I bow to you! :D

Ha! I don't think so more than anyone else here. :) Heck, Laurie's on her SECOND time thru the Bootcamp rotation - I bow down to her! BTW, my form on those tuck jumps definitely does NOT match Ms. Cathe if you know what I mean. ;-)

I finished all 400 lunges! My legs were trembling, I was shouting, but I did it! My abs are very sore as well. I think my Kickboxing will be quite an experience tomorrow. We'll see how my legs are when I wake up! Susan
