Hi BB's,

First of all---Happy Birthday to Laurie, Happy Birthday to Laurie, Happy Birthday to Laurie, Happy Birthday to you. Hope you have a great day. Any big plans?

I am doing muscle max today. Did CC yesterday and Sat I was sick so no workout.

Sue, did you have a great trip. Tell us what you did and all the fun you had. We sure missed you.

Laurie, Again happy birthday. Hope you had a nice weekend at the faire. The weather was a bit cooler than it has been. It had to make wearing those costumes a little more comfortable.

Susan, hope you had a relaxing weekend. Glad you are still enjoying your elliptical. I have heard they are one of the hardest machines to keep going on.

All is quiet here. Have a great day. It sounds like the road trip was a huge success. Looking forward to the new workouts. It sounds like 4 more weeks or so. Not bad.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY LAURIE!!!!! :)

Hi there ladies! Hope you all had fun weekends! Mine was good! We had my DH's company picnic Saturday and Friday we took the kids to the fair. Sunday was a day of rest!!

Saturdays workout was Legs/Glutes and Sunday I did an hour of Pilates.

Today I am doing the elliptical for 20mn then doing CTX Power Circuit.

I took my measurements today and in the past month I have lost 1" off my waist and my hips, and 1/2" off my arms and thighs. So even though my scale didn't move this morning I am not gonna complain! ;-)

Have a great day! Susan

I'm back!

Looks like everyone has been doing a good job with their workouts. Just reading about your workouts is helping to motivate me.

Laurie - Happy Birthday! Do something fun today and eat lots of birthday cake! mmmmm - cake So I read in last week's thread that you don't like cream puffs?! (gasp) Fortunately for my waistline we didn't get a chance to go to State Fair this year. I think we've gone every year since the kids were little so kind of sad.

Karen - Great job on your time trial! Must have felt good to beat a team who placed ahead of you last year. Now you have a new goal for next year - to finish 1st:)

Susan - Congrats on the inches lost! Woo hoo! That must make you feel pretty happy.

Back at work. . . Vacation was great. We met up with one of DH's old college buddies who works at the Pentagon so that was interesting to hear his stories about going to Iraq. He's a retired Colonel but still visits the Middle East frequently. The museums were great. I was surprised and maybe everyone else in the world knows this but me but most of the museums are FREE! The Spy Museum which is not free was well worth the admission though. We rode the Metro around town - so easy to use and safe. Went to Arlington Cemetery and saw a neat changing of the guard ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldiers. Met at Sen. Kohl's office for a tour of the Capitol. Got to use the underground train system they use - a much needed relief on a hot day! Our hotel had an awesome workout facility with 2 big rooms - 1 was all free weights, benches, Smith machines, etc. and the other had Cybex equipment which I used to use at the Y years ago before I discovered Cathe and still remembered how to use:) They also had tons of treadmills, recumbents, lifecycles and ellipticals. And get this - they had a big aerobic floor with classes! I didn't make any classes because they were at noon and 5:30 when we were still out and about but used the Cybex twice and the lifecycle once. With all the walking in the 102 degree, high humidity weather, I didn't feel like more cardio than that.

Yesterday I did laundry and no workout. Just lazy - no other excuse.

This morning I did BM2 Boot Camp premix 78 min.

So what do you guys think of Cathe's latest announcement? I have tons of questions that I hope they answer soon. DH said "Well, I guess now we have to get a video Ipod."

Sue

RE: I'm back!

Susan, congrats on the inches lost. Way to go. It must be that elliptical and of course your hard work.

Sue, sounds like you had a great time. Lots done in a weeks time. You even got some workouts in. What is a Cybex? I guess on the announcement, I already have a hard time deciding what to do. I don't think I'd use all that stuff, also I am very illiterate when it comes to any electronics. My two boys went to the state fair with their grandparents and had cream puffs for the first time. They loved them. I guess they are worth the wait in long lines.

Have a nice day.

RE: I'm back!

Karen - Cybex are a brand of weight machines with separate machines for each muscle group. For example, they have a seated hamstring machine which works just the hamstrings. It really isolates the muscle! They're pretty old which is why our Y replaced them with something else. I never even got trained on the something else.

RE: I'm back!

Hello BB's,

Thank you for the Birthday Wishes. :) DH bought me a beautiful bouquet of flowers. Made me cry (of course I'm in a weekend condition.) DD11 bought me a purple (my fav color) Gladiola. And oldest DD boutht me a frog pin that I was eyeing at one of the booths. I'm home sick today, so that is why I'm checking in late. I was enjoying a nice rest when I heard the TV up full blast. Thought I better check in so you guys know I made it through the weekend, even with a cold. :)

Susan, Congrats on the inches lost. I'm hoping to get more into my workouts ones fair is over with. Only three weeks left.

Karen, I didn't get a chance to look at any announcements, so 4 weeks is it. :) Guess I can wait that long. :D This will be after fair is over, so this might be the jump start I need.

Sue, Sounds like you and your family had a great time in DC. Now I am looking forward to getting there myself. :)

Chat at you all tomorrow, hopefully this cough will get better.

Laurie

RE: I'm back!

Good Morning BB's,

Last night I went for a 17 mile tandem ride with DH. Today I am doing Drill Max Ultra Cardio Blast.

Laurie, hope you are feeling better today. It sounds like you had a happy birthday. Those were thoughtful gifts.

Sue, how does it feel to be back at work after your vacation. It's gotta be hard. Are you still getting your walks in?

Susan, anything exciting up today for you?

Have a wonderful day.

RE: I'm back!

Well, Laurie, looks like your cold found its way to my house! LOL ;-)
Yesterday afternoon I started feeling it and this morning I woke with a bad sore throat, cough and stuffy nose... However, if I can get myself to feel better I still hope to work out today!

On the agenda is the elliptical for 40mn (Heart Rate Intervals) followed by chest work. I am going to be doing a 1 body part/day routine for a month. See if I like it!

I take my DD to get her hair highlightened today. I'll be taking some pics. Let 'cha know when I get them on my picture trail!

Laurie, hope you're feeling better and that you enjoyed your Birthday!

Take care ladies- Susan

RE: I'm back!

Morning BB's,

I'm feeling a bit better today, the nose is less stuffy today. :) And the cough is under control. DD14 didn't go to cross country this morning, she is sore, coughing, and of all things started TTOM. Pour kid. DH didn't want her running in the mud, and quite possibly getting pneumonia.

What is on tap for me today is a double header in volleyball, and if I feel really energetic when I get home it will be Step Blast Premix 11. See how I feel when I get home. Volleball doesn't start until 8 tonight.

Karen, Have fun with the DM Ultra Cardio Blast. I haven't done all the premixes on those workouts. Sounds like a killer workout. :D

Susan, This cold has been getting everyone that I know. DH is waiting for it to hit him. Bet you DD is very excited about the highlights. I know my oldest one was.

Sue, So how was the first day back at work. I know when I have been on vacation, the first day back seems to drag. ;-)

Have a great day!

Laurie

RE: I'm back!

Karen - I looked at my list of premixes this morning when trying to decide what cardio to do and came across the Drill Max premix you did. Decided I wasn't that energetic this morning at 5:30 so did an easier Turbo Jam instead. I did my walk last night for the first time since vacation. I guess my streak is now officially broken but I'm still going to try to finish the year off by walking every day.

Laurie & Susan - Hope you get over your colds soon. Sometimes a good heart-pumping cardio takes away some of the congestion for me - hope it works for you with your workouts today.

Laurie - Good luck at volleyball tonight!

First day back at work was very busy. Before I even walked in the door we have phone line problems which kept me busy all day. I even signed in last night from home to release faxes after the circuit was repaired. And of course, tons of email to read. Its funny that years ago when I took vacation my snail mail inbox would be overflowing when I got back. This time I had only 1 item in my snail mail inbox and 159 new emails. How times have changed, eh?

This morning was TJ Mix 2 + All Step abs. Tonight is a Tae Kwan Do lesson for 30 min. Getting busy with back to school stuff. It was a lot easier when both were in the same school. Now I have 2 separate Forms and Fees day to attend, 2 Open Houses and a New Parent Orientation for Middle School over the next 2 weeks.

Sue

RE: I'm back!

HI everyone!

Well, my cold has eased off a bit so I am happy! :)

Today is Legs & Glutes plus I walked for 40 mn.

I have a ton of back to school shopping to do today. I told the kids we're not coming home until everything is scratched off the list!

Sue, hope you got through all those e-mails!

Have a good day ladies! Susan

RE: I'm back!

Morning BB's,

Today is PUB Up only Premix and Abs w/ball.

The Step Blast premix didn't go all that well yesterday. I got through the first two step routines, and when it got to the challenge I started coughing. I just ended up sitting on my step watching Cathe and crew workout in front of me. We lost all the games last night in volleyball. I was soaking wet by the end, it sure was humid last night.

Susan, Have fun with school shopping today. So glad you cold is feeling better for you. As I was driving to work this morning I was hacking so hard tears where running down my face. Just glad I wasn't on the freeway when all this started. :D

Sue, Oh yes the joys of two schools. It will seem as if you have things going on every night also. Two of everything. Your DD is starting Middle School this year. Oh what fun! My oldest has meet some people already from just being in cross country. I told her that sports is a good way to meet older classmates.

Karen, How did you survive the DM Cardio Blast?

Have a great day!

Laurie

RE: I'm back!

Hi BB's,

Today I did Muscle Endurance and tonight I will go for a 17 mile tandem ride with DH. We have another 45 mile race coming up Sep 2. That one I wasn't planning on, so more training.

I survived DM cardio blast but barely. Boy was that tough. I really wanted it to be over. I won't be doing that one for a while.

Sue, how did you Tae Kwando class go yesterday? My DS is starting MS this year too. I have them in three different places this year.

Laurie, sorry you lost the volleyball games but you seem to enjoy it. Sorry you are not 100percent yet. Funny sitting and watching Cathe and crew finish the blasts. They are good aren't they? I wish my DD14 would get involved in sports to meet people. She is just not interested in them. What to do. Is you DD feeling better?

Susan, nice job on L&G and your walk. Hope you are feeling better.

Have to get DD to orthodontist.

Enjoy your day ladies.

RE: I'm back!

Laurie - Your cough sounds terrible! I hope for your sake it gets better soon. Probably a good thing you stopped during Step Blast. Make sure you get extra rest (if the coughing doesn't keep you awake that is). You're right - it was very humid last night. I went for a walk/jog last night around 9 and sweated silly. Sorry you lost your games after playing in that pea soup.

Susan - You are doing so well adding in that extra walking! Have you noticed any changes in fitness or leaning of the legs? I wish I could say I did because my legs have a lot of "leaning" to do. No, I haven't read all my emails. I'll save the newsletters I get for Friday. That's a good Friday thing to do - not too taxing on the brain.

Karen - So you survived Drill Max Cardio Blast - high five to you! That interval with the big hops always kills me and you had to do it twice! So you have another race to train for - I was wondering how long the season lasted and if you'd do any more races. Sounds like your DH really has the racing bug. Three schools to deal with?! I feel for you. A lot of running around. Are they close together at least? Your DD must be on the same ortho schedule because my DD has an ortho appt. today, too. She had 2 baby teeth extracted before vacation - which meant she couldn't chew - made finding something for her to eat in restaurants tricky - so now they will put on the lower brackets today (hopefully).

We had our 1st Tae Kwan Do class last night. It lasted about 40 min. First they warmed us up with high knees running in place slapping your knees against these adjustable height pads on the wall. (I used the same height as DH and he's 6' to my 5'6" so I had to work harder!). Anyway, we stood in line and did 10 of those and then had to run to the back of the line and do 5 pushups and 5 situps. I did those quick but by the time I was done there was no one in line left because they were doing their own pushups/situps so I had to do more high knees and then pushups/situps and keep going. There was no downtime so we worked up a good sweat to start. I'm thinking to myself - "That's our warmup! I'm in trouble" but we slowed down to stretch then and practiced some punches and bob and weaves. Then we lined up in separate lines (we had 3 black belt instructors; 4 if you count Master Connelly) so we could come forth individually to hit the pads they held with whatever punch they yelled out and then bob and weave when they told us to duck (or get hit with the pad!) After that Master Connelly who's the head honcho (I'm not sure how many degrees black belt he is but you can tell he's really good) showed us defensive moves and we teamed up to spar. I sparred with a yellow/black stripe belt woman who was very nice and we both got confused trying to do the moves that looked "so easy" when Master Connelly demonstrated them. It was a good class and we all earned a black stripe for doing a good job at our 1st class. Next class is Thursday night but 1 of us will have to miss because of new parent orientation at the middle school.

Had some extra energy last night so I went for a 2 mile jog/walk instead of my usual 1 mile walk. I'm in major calorie burning mode this week. Too many indulgences over vacation! }(

This morning was Jari's Ripped to the Core. Again, another calorie burner or should I say "carb burner" like she does;-)

Sue

RE: I'm back!

Morning BB's,

Today I will do Bodymax 2 and Kellys kickbox step and go for a ride with DS9 who is missing his brothers.

Sue, great job on Ripped to the Core. It sounds like the Tae Kwan Do class is a great workout. Does the rest of your family enjoy it so far? Extra energy for a jog/walk too. You go. All the schools are close together so that is a plus.

Laurie, are you feeling better? I hope your cough is gone. Take it easy. Are you looking forward to the end of the faire?

Susan, we sure have had nice weather to take walks in. I mostly rains at night and is nice during the day.

Off to get DD14 hair highlighted by a hairdresser friend. The same one I went to the beach with yesterday.

Have a great day.

RE: I'm back!

HI ladies!

Karen, that sounds like a great workout you have planned! When do your sons come home? Hope your DD likes her hair!

Laurie, how are you? My sister has now come down with a bad cold/cough also. Take care of yourself!

Today we are going to Elkhart Lake beach with my girlfriend and her kids. Should be fun.

When I get home I will be jumping on the elliptical for 40mn and doing shoulder/ab work. So far I am enjoying the 1 body part/day!

Stay strong- Susan

RE: I'm back!

Morning BB's,

Today is a 45 min Interval Run. I will probably do a cardio coach for this. I have found that if I keep a cough drop in my mouth while working out I don't cough. I had a cough drop in my mouth during VB and that seemed to help. I had one last 3 games. ;-)

I'm feeling much better today as far as the cold goes, but I was up with major cramps last night. I never, never, never have had cramps this bad. Guess that is what happens when you get older. I just thank whoever invented Midol. ;-)

Karen, Quite a workout you have planned for today. Yep I am ready for faire to end. This weekend is #7 of 9, so there will be only 2 weekends left. I told DH that the first Saturday that we are free, I don't want to have to wake up early. I think that I will take the phone off the hook, because his Mom has a habit of calling at 7am on Saturdays. x(

Susan, Have a great time at the beach. How did your shopping go. I only have to get clothes, and shoes. DH handles all the supplies. :) I also have to go to the dance store to get DD10 her new slippers and leotard. Why do they have to grow. :)

Sue, Your description of the Tae Kwon Do sounds great. And it sounded like you had a great time. :) I have yet to try the Jari Love workouts that I have. Ripped to the Core, and Slim & Lean. I think I will have some time after this rotation. I will do some of these new workouts that I have, until we receive our new Cathe's. :)

Have a great day!

Laurie

RE: I'm back!

Laurie - Glad the cough drop thing is working for you. I've even put one in my mouth before going to bed to keep the coughing down so I could get to sleep. Having a MIL that calls at 7 a.m. on Saturday mornings make me feel lucky I don't have one! Just kidding. I never even met DH's mom (she died before we started dating) but I hear she was a wonderful woman. So you're a Cardio Coach person now, too? I was syncing my iPod last night and thought about downloading something but didn't pull the trigger.

Susan - Have fun at the beach! I've thought about trying a 1 body part a day rotation. Maybe after I finish my circuit/endurance "rotation" I will. (I say "rotation" in quotes because I've been just winging it lately as far as what workout to do.)

Karen - Hope your DD likes the way her hair turns out. My DD actually suggested getting manicures together as something she'd like to do. Surprised the heck out of me even though she does have long nails and I'm always telling her she needs to file them. I wonder if she'd be interested in highlights. . . All part of my longterm plan to make her more "girly".

Just re-reading this and it sounds like I'm copying what everyone is doing! LOL It's just because you guys come up with GREAT ideas! :)

I think my body is not used to waking up early and working out. Hit the snooze alarm 3 times this morning before I decided to take a rest day. Was going to take one tomorrow anyway so it's fine. I'll still get my walk in tonight after a new parent orientation meeting for middle school. DD is going with me so we'll both miss Tae Kwan Do tonight. Should plan on doing Kickmax before my next class. The instructor grabbed my foot on Tuesday night trying to get me to aim my kicks higher and it hurt! Guess I'm just not that flexible. Maybe YogaX would help, too. . .

Have a great day!

Sue

RE: I'm back!

Happy Friday!!

Well, yesterdays workout did not happen. When we got home from the beach I had unexpected company (thank you DH!);) .

So today will be CTX Kickbox cardio, biceps & shoulders. I am not going to do the bicep work in CTX because I want to go a bit heavier. I also have to mow the lawn which is about 45 mn of sweatin' & pushin'!

Having a cookout at my sister's in Oshkosh tomorrow. Sunday we are going to another baseball game. I am actually looking forward to the cooler temps!

Have a great weekend ladies! Susan

RE: I'm back!

Hi BB's,

Yesterday I ended up doing CC#6 Candance. Today and tomorrow will be rest days.

We decided to pick up DS11 and DS13 at my parents house today and then DH will take them to the bike race at Mt. Morris. That way I get to see my parents again. Hopefully Sun. I'll get something in. Maybe SJP, haven't done that one in a while and I really like it. The boys haven't raced in a while so it will be interesting to see how they do on Sat.

Sue, how did the orientation go? Neat your DD is coming around. Your plan is working. Get the CC, they are really good workouts. Do you think the leg conditioning drills at the end of Kickmax will help you to kick higher?

Susan, did you have a nice time at the beach? I really like one body part a day. I always seem to go back to it. I think total body is more difficult for me.

Laurie, Did you do the interval run on your treadmill or outside? Have a nice time at the faire. Almost done.

DD really likes her highlights. My friend did a great job. She also cut all the other kids hair and mine while we were at her house. I figure she saved me over $120.

Have a wonderful weekend.
