Cathlete
Hello fellow BB's! Hope you had a nice, soggy weekend! Mine was rather quiet but nice.

Saturdays' workout was elliptical and tricep/ab work. Sunday was an off day. I just felt like doing nothin!

Today is Step Blast followed by chest work & abs!

Hoping this rain stops soon! I think mother nature is making up for the drought we had earlier in the summer!

Stay strong- Susan

Morning BB's,

Yesterday the show did not go on. For the first time since 1982 they closed the faire. :) We didn't know what to do with ourselves. After we got everything put away, we went and had breakfast. We as a family went home and got some much needed rest. DH and I went to bed, and the girls watched a show on TV. We did manage to go see a movie. Ratatouille was really cute. :) We where with some friends of ours and then went out for dinner. After dinner I still felt tired, so I went upstairs and sacked out on the bed. The best part was that the elephants at the fair had to pull the porta potty truck out of the mud. :D

Susan, Yep I think that mother nature is sure making up for the dryness of summer. But why does she need to do it all at once. :) I totally understand about the lazy Sunday.

Karen, How did the bike race go?

Sue, Did you have a nice quiet weekend. No baseball, and traveling?

Have a great day!

Laurie

Morning BB's,

Today i am doing GS C/T and Bodymax 2 no upper body

The race on Sat went well. It rained from 11 through the rest of the day and the guys were wet, cold and muddy after racing in that. My DH took 3rd, DS13 took 6th, DS11 took 1st and DS9 took 2nd. All in all 3 medals were brought home.

Laurie, I heard you guys had tons of rain toward Racine. Lots of flooding. It was at least nice you had a relaxing Sun. with your frineds and family. What workout did you do today?

Susan, glad you had a quiet weekend. I wish the rain would stop. This weather reminds me that fall is quickly approaching.

Have a great day.

Forgot to mention that I will be doing Legs & Glutes plus a 20 min run. I didn't work out on Friday, because I still wasn't feeling all that great. My chest was really tight with congestion. So today I'm so rested up that I feel great.

Laurie

Karen, your kids did a great job in the race! WOW! They should be proud!

Laurie, glad to hear you are feeling better! Enjoy your run!

Susan

Susan - You're right - it sure was a soggy weekend. I'm sick of the rain now and just want to see the sun.

Laurie - Glad to hear you're feeling better. Wow - they closed the Faire! Nice for you to have an unexpected day off. The timing with your cold and all couldn't have been better, huh? Did your girls watch "High School Musical 2"? My kids didn't want anything to do with it but I know they're in the minority. We haven't seen Ratoutille yet. Thought about going to a movie yesterday but ended up taking DD to get her hair cut. Turned out really cute. Just touches her shoulders and all 1 length with a side part.

Karen - Your men did a good job in their races! More training for you and DH this week?

Had a great time visiting with my sister on Friday. Even got to see my great-nephew who was born in April. Only the 2nd time I've seen him. Cute as a button. :)

Saturday morning I woke up with a slightly sore back and by the time I finished Janis Saffel's Kickbox Strike Zone, my low back was REALLY sore. I think it was the punches. Almost felt like cramps but my period was just ending and I don't usually get cramps anyway - haven't since my 20s. Yesterday, back still sore but felt better after MuscleMax and then yesterday afternoon it was sore again. This morning I felt like I could hardly move. Bending over hurt but I was stubborn and wanted to do something so did cardio from the Wedding video. That went fine. Burned a lot more calories than normal though which was weird. I was so tired all weekend, too. Sitting here typing it feels better but for how long? I've never had back problems in my life so I don't know what's going on. Sucking in my stomach and tightening my core helps alleviate the pain so maybe I need more corework? I've been kind of lazy with that lately. I did do some abwork on my own Saturday night so that should have helped but it didn't. I'm thinking I should do Pilates or yoga tomorrow although I don't have great workouts for either of those. I'll see how I feel later today.

Sue

Morning BB's,

Today I am planning on GS Legs and a run if it quits raining for a bit, otherwise I'll find some other cardio.

Sue, what is your great-nephew's name? Neat you got to see him and your sister. The Wedding Video is the only Cathe I don't have. Sounds like you are getting in some gret workouts since you have returned from your vacation.

Laurie, did you run outside or on your treadmill yesterday? I got a chance to run on my mom and dads this weekend. It sure would be nice in this kind of weather to have a treadmill or an elliptical.

Susan, Are you doing elliptical today? Are you seeing a difference in your legs from this particular machine? Yes, the boys did great in their races. Thanks for the congrats.

Have a super-great day.

Hi there!

Sue, I hope your back is feeling better!

Yesterday I totally organized and cleaned one awful looking side of my basement! It looks so nice now! Today I am going to tackle the other side! See this rain is good for something - keeps me cleaning!

Today's workout is elliptical for 40mn plus shoulder work!

Karen, I have lost almost an inch in both legs. I have have seen more definition! I try to only do it about 3 times a week though so I don't get bored!

Take care- Susan

Susan, that's right, I remember you telling us about the inches lost a week or so ago. Sorry for asking again. That is great. i thought ellipticals are one of the better pieces for lower body. Have fun cleaning. Probably something i should do also.

Morning BB's,

Todays workout is Shape Transforming Workout #1 / Kathy Smith Peak Fat Burning. Thought I would pull out some workouts that I haven't done yet and some old ones. I'm following the Aug '04 workout, but subbing workouts. Makes for a good change of pace.

Karen, With the weather the way it is (mist and fog), I have been opting for the treadmill. I didn't want to chance the cold weather and my cold. I'm a real wimp when it comes to getting wet.

Susan, You want to come and clean up my basement also. :) We need to do that sometime, everything gets disorganized down there when we are sewing.

Sue, Hope your back is feeling better. I know that when I was doing Tae Bo a lot, my back started hurting me. You only have done one class so far, but maybe it is putting different pressure on your back when they are making you perform the kick properly. Just a thought that popped into my silly head. :)

Have a great day!

Laurie

Karen - My great nephew's name is Logan. Reminds me of that bad tv show from the 70s - Logan's Run. I watched it because it was Sci Fi and let's face it - there wasn't a heck of a lot of choice for tv shows before cable became popular.:+

Susan - DH said to me a few weeks ago that when we finally get the downstairs finished I could get a treadmill. :7 After hearing about your results I'm thinking an elliptical might be the way to go. :)

Laurie - I like doing different workouts, too which is why I have trouble following a rotation. I don't know WHAT I did to my back. I don't think it was Tae Kwan Do because I missed Thursday's class and it started hurting Saturday morning BEFORE Kickbox Strike Zone. It still hurts a little today but if I sit with a pillow behid my low back it's better. Wish I knew what I did so I could not do it any more. :+

Did HSTA this morning and sweated like crazy. The only exercise I couldn't do is the one at the end which combines chest flies with a 1 leg in the air hamstring move. Skipped the hams and did just the flies. Waiting for the Ibuprofen to kick in. Don't know if I'll go to tonight's TKD class. We'll see how it feels later this afternoon.

Have a good day everyone!

Sue

Hi BB's,

Today I am doing GS B/B/S and BM2 cardio, and abs. It is really foggy here today.

Sue, how is your back today? Did you end up going to Tae Kwan Do? Logan is a cute name. I'll bet it will be popular for both boys and girls. Strange how names have crossed over to be for either or.

Laurie, I used to do Kathy Smithe all the time. I had all of her videos. I gave them to my mom when my tape player got wrecked. Do still think they are advanced workouts? I sure did when I started.

Susan, What kind of elliptical did you get again? I was looking yesterday online at different ones. Not many stores up here have decent ones. I don't know if I could talk DH into one but I sure would like one.

Have a nice day.

Hi there!:D

Today is humid here! I over-slept for some reason. It felt good though!

I have L&G on the chart today. At the end, when she is doing the inner thigh work, I wonder if she'll ever stop!

Karen, we have a LifeFitness x3 elliptical. We bought it from 2nd Wind. They had one of those special deals going on at the time. We got one with the "advanced console".

Here's the site:

Have a great day ladies! Susan

Morning BB's,

Today will be Jari Love Ripped to the Core. Cathe has ME on the schedule, so I think that this would be a good sub. DD14 wants to work weights with me. Her coach says that they need to balance out the upper body, since they are running so much. It will be nice to have her working out with me.

Volleyball is finally finished. We had a double header yesterday and managed to beat the last team.

The Shape Transforming workout was very good. I'm thinking I can put this in as a cardio for Barry's, CTX or even the new Cathe workouts. I haven't done the other two workouts, but will try and get them in. Cardio & Weights is suppose to be this week, maybe I will add one of these onto that.

Karen, I still enjoy Kathy Smith workouts. On the workout that I did yesterday she has all levels of people working out. So I just follow the more advanced. I also like her LWTLW and both of the Kickboxing. So many workouts so little time. :D

Susan, Did you get the last of the basement cleaned out? Again we had rain last night. I woke up to pouring rain last night. How much more can the ground hold.

Sue, How is your back this morning? Did you go to TKD class yesterday? HSTA is a great workout.

Have a great day!

Laurie

Karen - I did end up going to Tae Kwan Do last night and was fine with the drills we did since they were mostly kicking. We did a neat wheel kick, crescent kick, backfist with a backspin, cross combo that I had trouble with until it clicked with me that the backspin was just like the backspin in Amy Bento's Kickbox workout instead of pivoting on the front foot. Back still hurts but more of a dull pain. I think I wrecked my back when I tried to move a heavy trash can and lifted using my back more than my legs - bad body mechanics in other words. Sitting with a pillow or squishy ball here at work between my back and the back of the chair helps relieve pressure off my low back. I think I'll do Pilates or yoga tomorrow but not sure which would be better. I'm thinking PIlates.

Laurie - That's cool that DD14 wants to workout with you. At the Dojo last night, the instructor was helping 1 of the little kids do pushups correctly to build his upper body strength. This was in another class after we were done called Xtreme Martial Arts and they were doing cartwheels and other moves that require upper body strength. I was just glad our class didn't do cartwheels last night.;-) It's been a LONG TIME since I attempted a cartwheel and now I'm more afraid of hurting myself than landing on my butt!

Susan - You might have already answered this but did you consider treadmills and treadclimbers as well? What made you decide on an elliptical? If and when DH gives me the okay to buy something, I want to be ready to go before he changes his mind.;-)

Did 40 min. of Step Max this morning before I had to get ready for work since I had to get there early. The 3 count hesitate horseshoe move was too much twisting for my back so it hurt a little when I was done. Maybe I should stick with walking/jogging for awhile for cardio.

Sue

Hello!!:D

Sue, I did not want a treadmill because I prefer to walk or run outside. My DH used a LifeFitness elliptical trainer at his corporate gym center. That's why we went that route. When we went to 2nd Wind however I tried everything and just preferred the "feel" of the elliptical.

Today is CTX Power Circuit (cardio) and back work plus I walked 40mn this morning.

Have a great day! Looks like it'll be a couple days before the rain stops!

take care- Susan

Morning BB's,

Today will be PS Legs & Abs plus 20 Min. Run

DD14 has her first Xcountry meet today. I'm not heading out to the meet, just don't have enough time. :) Just hope she has a good time, and that it isn't raining. She did work out with me last night, and she really didn't like Jari Love. :D Next time we do a workout together I'm getting a Cathe out. She though Jari was to serious, exact words where (doesn't she smile!).

Susan, I like Power Circuit, it is like a mini BM workout. :) Great job on the walking you have been doing. Keep up the great work.

Sue, I have seen that Xtreme Martial Arts on one of the shows my kids watch. Those kids are flying around like they weight nothing. I also would like an elliptical machine, but I also love my treadmill (only because I love to run). Just wish I could have both of them. :)

Karen, Are you guys getting the rain up there like we are down here. No rain all summer, and then it decides to make up for it all in 2 weeks. x(

Have a great day!

Laurie

Hi BB's,

Today I am doing Cardio Camp.

It is raining here again today. You guys are really making me want an elliptical. I couldn't afford the one Susan has. It would be nice though.

Susan, great job walking everyday. I don't use CTX very often. I don't know why, they are great workouts.

Sue, glad you made it to your Tae Kwan Do class and your back felt o.k. We decided not to do the bike race so DH could concentrate on his big 40 mile Mt. Bike race coming in Sept. The one he trains for all year.

Laurie, it's neat DD14 was working out with you. I don't much care for Jari Love either. Do you like her? Wish you DD good luck from me at her track meet tonight.

Have a great day.

Karen - Are you relieved you're not doing the race now or disappointed? Is Cardio Camp a bootcamp type workout?

Laurie - Can't say that I like Jari's personality as much as Cathe and she can definitely be annoying with all her talk about burning carbs, but I do like doing RTTC for a variety sake. BTW, I saw Slim and Lean and the original Ripped in Pick 'n Save for $12.99 last week (weird, huh?) and wasn't even tempted. Too many other workouts I'd like to try.

Susan - I prefer walking outside, too, but with the rain we've been getting lately (not to mention the snow and ice we get during the winter), ANY kind of cardio equipment would be nice to have.:) I guess I'll have to do like you did and try other different pieces and see what I like best.

Did Pilates Weight Loss for Dummies this morning. The only move that hurt was the standing spinal twist. Can't wait for my back to feel normal again. It feels good right now but it hurt bending over trying to put my pants on this morning:-(
