Morning All,

Hope everyone had a wonderful 4th of July. I was very busy before hand getting my new dress ready for dress rehersal. All I can say is this dress rocks. I have pics, but will probably not be posting until Tuesday. I don't know how many compliments I received, but in the sun the thing turns purple! :) It was ok'd by all the appropricate people, so :p to anyone who doesn't like it!

This morning I got my tired butt out of bed, and managed to get 30MTF Kickboxing #2, and PH Abs done. I actually felt great after I was done. :) This was the first time attempting this workout, so there was just one point that I was standing looking at the TV like WHAT! I did use my 2# weighted gloves, and I was sweating!

I ate to much, but only gained 1lb! :) Should be easy to get off, and continue on my journey. :D

Hello there! I had a great time camping but ate(and drank) a bit too much! Was up 2.5 pounds this morning. It'll come off fast enogh. Most of it is sodium. Gotta drink my water!

I overslept this morning,, and had to rush DD up and out of bed for her class. She was not happy with me!:p Then I did the Chris Freytag DVD and will be doing Pump Party this afternoon.

Laurie, I bet your dress is beautiful and I look forward to seeing it!:D Glad you had a nice time!

Hope the rest of you ladies are enjoying yourselves!

Take care- Susan

Hi BB's,

Today I did B&G. Had a great time on Sun. at the Firecracker Bike Race in Eau Claire. All the boys, DH and DD6 raced. What a beautiful day.

Laurie, I am excited to see your dress. KCM doesn't give me any problems unless I am doing her step. Glad you got a good workout.

Susan, Have fun with Mindy this afternoon. What class is DD taking? Nice attitude you and Laurie have about losing the weight you gained. Mine seems to stay with me these days.

Going on a bike ride with the kids. Have a wonderful day.

Hello, everyone! I'm back from vacation and off today so I can recover and get some work done around the house.

We left last Sunday and drove to Green Bay. The next day we toured Lambeau Field and drove to Manistique, MI. We toured the Seul Choix Point Lighthouse and went to a Mystery Spot outside St. Ignus. The Mystery Spot made me queasy afterwards but was kind of neat. We took the ferry to Mackinac Island, toured Fort Mackinac and rented bikes to bike around the island. The next day we drove over the Mackinac Bridge which is stunning - especially at night. We drove to Grand Rapids next to see DH's aunt and uncle and had a nice dinner together. He recently retired so he showed us a nice video made by his co-workers. The final 2 nights were spent CAMPING! Sorry, Susan - it's not my thing. DH only brought along 1 sleeping bag for the 2 of us (kids each had their own) and I was FREEZING the first night. We had an air mattress so spread it across both of us but too much air got in that way and made it chilly. Then one of the kids got up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom and couldn't find their way back in the pitch dark. Fortunately, I heard them stumbling around and steered them toward their tent. I couldn't sleep well the rest of the night though, worrying the other one would do the same thing! I told DH the next day we needed to buy another sleeping bag. Well, long story short, we didn't have time to run to a store so I thought I'd be okay if I wore my fleece and jacket to bed. I was a little warmer but still cold. To top it off, the campsite was rocking because of 4th of July until at least 1 a.m. We went to bed at 11 so we could get up at 7 the next day and catch the ferry back so it was a little frustrating.

It felt good to sleep in this morning after 2 not so great night's sleep. Don't mean to sound so negative. We had a great time on the trip but I was more than ready to come home yesterday.

A couple of hotels had exercise rooms so I used the treadmill and elliptical and of course did tons of walking. Today I did Prevention FCF cardio and legs. The kids and I also put both tents up again to vacuum them out and I pulled weeds. DH is trying to kick me of my diet soda habit. His deal (which I never agreed to :p) is that every day he works out in the a.m. I can't drink diet soda that day. He worked out this morning so I haven't had any diet soda today - YET! We'll see if this is possible. I just love my DMD (diet Mt. Dew).

Hello again!

Karen, glad you had such a nice weekend! Hope you had a nice ride with the kids!

Sue, well, Michigan sounds lovely! I really need to travel over that way. Can't believe I have never been there! As for the camping, maybe the reason I enjoy it is I make sure I have plenty of blankets, a great mattress and am never cold! In fact, I was actually sweating both nights! DH complains I bring along too many blankets, sleeping bags, etc, but yet, he's never cold and always sleeps well! Glad you were able to squeeze in some workouts!:D

Can I ask why DH thinks diet soda is so bad? How many do you drink? I am not a big fan of soda and only drink one every other day, but I wouldn't think it's too bad for you! I prefer my ice tea. You work hard and deserve a treat and if that's Diet Mtn. Dew, I say go for it! :)

Have a good night~

Susan - You're a smart woman bringing so many blankets. I'd rather be sweating than freezing any day! There were so many things we forgot to bring for camping. Just weren't in the camping frame of mind when we packed for our trip I guess.

About the diet soda. . . Yes, I must admit I drink a lot. At work I'll drink 1 or 2 20 oz. Diet Mountain Dews a day! That's in addition to my morning coffee. Caffeine abuse aside, the artificial sweeteners are bad because your body gets confused by the sweetness but lack of calories. Consequently, when you eat something sweet that has more calories, your body doesn't recognize how many calories it has so doesn't bother burning them up. This is from Jillian Michael's "Master Your Metabolism". There's also the benzene that can form in soda linked to thyroid damage, BHA which is an endocrine disrupter and the artificial colors linked to thyroid, adrenal, bladder, kidney and brain cancer. This is also in Jillian's book. I read it while on vacation last week and it scared the crap out of me! It's a miracle any of us are still alive or don't weigh 300 pounds. Giving up my DMD will be as HARD! I don't know if I can completely give it up but i definitely need to kick the daily habit. Splenda, too. I need to get Stevia or Xylitol.

I don't think you drink too much, Susan. A can every other day is not much. My goal is to get it down to 1 can a week.

Good Morning,

Today I am doing 4DS upper and then our group bike ride tonight.

Sue, sounds like it was a nice but cold trip. Do your kids like camping? Nice of DH to help you kick the diet Mt. Dew habit. It will be good for both of you, he will get exercise and you will not be drinking your beloved but toxic Mt. Dew.

Susan, I had a nice ride with the kids.

Kids did lots of fishing last night and caught a meal of northern, bass and pan fish mix. I will have to fry them up in the next day or so. Glad the grill works for that.

Have a great day.

Morning All,

This morning my workout was 30 Day Shred #1, Upper and Lower body Seg of Quick Fix Cardio Kicks (20 min.) and Ab Ripper 200.

Susan, Glad your camping trip went well, and you will get that sodium out of your body soon. Drink that water! ;) So how long do you get to borrow that DVD?

Karen, Your fish dinner is going to be great. Love the pan fish the best! :) How long was the bike race that your family participated in? Enjoy your workout today.

Susan, Oh that is no fun when you are to cold to sleep! Glad you enjoyed your UP vacation though. ;) I only allow one or two diet sodas per week. Well your DH will be watched closely to see if he does a workout! :D I must say I really like Jillian's workouts and information she gives. Even though Shred #1 is suppose to be intermediate, I ramped it up to advanced and really did get a great workout in. Most suprising is my forearms are sore right now.

Have a great day!

Laurie

Laurie - I think you asked me if I tried Results yet. Well, today I tried the upper body/abs workout for the first time and I liked it a lot. Cindy is a good instructor and really keeps the pace going. The cardio segments aren't very long but there are so many of them that my HR stayed up the whole time. I think it's a real fat blaster. 1 or 2 diet sodas a week!? You and Susan are so good.

Karen - LOL at the toxic soda remark. :D You're right - I need to think of it as toxic (or poison maybe?) so it'll lose its appeal. I've been drinking Lipton Sparkling Diet Green Tea instead. I also have water on my desk. The tea is not as good as the water but the ingredient list does have as many offenders on it as the diet soda. Yes, the kids like camping. Are they really related to me? ;)

DS is doing weights and cardio 4 days a week 6:30-8:15 a.m. at our local high school and said he was sore today after taking a week off because of vacation. He said the high school boys are in the "power phase" of weight training which sounds like STS Phase 3 to me. He's going to be in great shape for football.

DD pitched for the first time ever in a SB game. She pitched at least 7 strikes and struck 1 girl out. Not bad for her 1st time but she still felt bad because they scored 6 runs off her that inning. It was a close game and we ended up losing 9-8.

Good day, ladies!

Well, I got all caught up in cleaning and washing the van and doing yard work, that I never got to the 2nd workout yesterday (Pump Party)! I was late getting supper ont he table too! So today I went for a nice long walk and did Pump Party. Have errands to run this afternoon.

Sue, your DD did a great job! What a close game! She should still be proud of herself! What age is your DS? My DS9 has weights that I bought him that he uses. I have to keep an an eye on him so he uses proper form!:D

Laurie, I get the workouts for 1 week but then I re-check them out for another week or 2! ;)

Karen, glad you liked your bike ride! Enjoy the fish! My DH wishes I'd make fish more often. The kids don't like it so I find I don't make it cause I don't want to hear them complain!

Susan - DS is 12 (going into 7th grade) which seems young to me to start weight-lifting for most kids but at 5'9" and 130, he is not the size of most 12 year olds! (Most people think he's older than DD14 since she's 5'2" and barely 100 pounds.) The program is run by the high school football coaches so I don't think (and hope) they aren't doing anything crazy. He was showing me the different exercises he does (e.g. good mornings, deadlifts, squats, walking lunges) and it's all basic stuff. As long as he's getting good tips on form and doesn't try to go too heavy too fast with the weights, I'm okay with it. It sounds like they push the high school kids though. I like that they're doing cardio, too instead of just pushing the weights and telling them to go run or do something on their own.

My kids are starting to like fish now. I have a recipe for fish tacos I want to try so we'll see how that goes over.

Hi! Well, got back from FL on the 4th. My family was in MN so actually I had a nice quiet afternoon. Went for a short run and now it´s back to serious exercise! Did BM2 yesterday and today did a 40 skate. I totally love this weather!

Sounds like you all had a nice 4th. Laurie, can´t wait to see your dress! Sue, Although I don´t mind camping, I can´t stand it when I´m cold...I think you did swell! And congrats to DD on her pitching.
Karen, it´s nice to have great biking weather, isn´t it? My DD19 is planning on doing a sprint triathlon, and I want to join her if she´s OK with that, so we´ll have to get out the bikes!
Susan, glad you had a good weekend!

Hello!

Lala, glad you're back! Hope you enjoyed Florida!

Today is Mindy's Awesome Interval's followed by pilates for my abs.

Yesterday I bought the Oxygen Abs and Oxygen Glutes magazines. Both have a lot of good workouts in them!

More running aorund to do today, then DS has his last soccer game, until his final tournament next weekend.

Have a great day! Susan

Morning All,

Todays workout was 30 Day Shred #1 and a 20 min. Run. Nice cool morning we had, so why not.

Didn't get a chance to post the pics. DH was busy sewing last night, and I need his help with this. I'm kind of technologically challenged. Received notice last week that I need to go to jury duty next week. :(

Sue, Glad you liked the Results workout. I have noticed cuts in my legs by incorporating these interval workouts into my routine. Even my calf muscles have started to look like good. :) Your DD did a great job for her first time pitching. :) She shouldn't feel bad about the 6 runs, because she isn't the only person on the field. ;)

Susan, LOL about the running around you have been doing. You would think once these children have the summer off the running around would end. But sad to say it doesn't. :) DH and I are having these dreams about what it will be like when it is just the two of us.

Lala, Glad to have you back again. I'm loving this cool weather, but we sure could use some rain. Never thought I would be saying that. :)

Have a great day,

Laurie

Lala - Welcome back! Forgive my ignorance but what is a sprint triathlon? Sounds tough! How cool that you and DD19 are doing it together.

Laurie - Okay, now I'm eager to try Results Lower Body. I'm doing it tonight if all goes as planned.

Susan - I haven't seen the Oxygen Abs and Glutes magazines in the store. May have to buy these for some motivation. It's been lacking lately.

Hi, Karen!

Slept in this morning so will do my workout tonight. I will do something no matter what comes up - even if it's just a Leslie mile. Eye doctor appt. today so I get to leave early. :)

Ciao!

Hi,

Went 53 miles last night average was 20 mph. Took 2 1/2 hours. What a blast. Today I did Plyo Legs from STS and coremax abs.

Lala, glad you had a good time in FL. Sounds like a good time doing a sprint triathalon. Sounds like you got right back into working out.

Sue, DD and DS are doing very well in their sports. Pitcher is a hard position to play.

Susan, Have fun at the soccer game. All the sports will end for the summer just to start up again for fall.

Laurie, Jury duty--yuk. I am going to have to do my results workout more often so my legs can looked cut. I am afraid with as bad as my eating is, no amount of Results workouts are going to make a difference until I can stop with the junk. Nice morning for a run.

Just got back from an ortho appt. and now have to head off to a PT appt. for my shoulder.

Have a great day.

Morning All,

Todays workout was 30 Day Shred #1 and a 25 min run. I am taking advantage of this cool weather to get some running in. :D

Sue, So did you get to try out the lower body workout. I like both, but I think that the lower body is ther better of the two. I need to make an eye appointment myself, and don't want to go back to the last guy we had. Not that he wasn't good, but I just didn't like his personality.

Karen, Wow what a ride, your legs have to be in great shape to do that long of a ride then Plyo Legs the next day. ;) Ya the junk will catch up to ya, oh how I know that. I think just munching the bad stuff helped me gain some extra weight. Why do I put myself through the roller coaster. The best part about DH watching what he is eating, I'm eating better too. :) So easy though to get into the extra munching mode. :(

Have a great day!

Laurie

Good morning! Today will be plyo legs and depending on how I´m feeling maybe a short run, or maybe just weeding ;)

Sue, a sprint triathlon is a short one...not necessarily fast (for me anyway!) It´s like a 1/4 mile swim, 13 mile bike and 5K run. And don´t feel ignorant...I´m worse...DD is 20 and I still think of her as 19:eek:

For those of you using them, what are the results workouts?

Karen, you rock on those bike rides! How´s the shoulder? DD20 (!) just got back from her PT appt. She has started to swim again, which I think she thought would never happen :)

Susan, how do you like Mindy and her intervals? I don´t have any of her workouts, but the clips I´ve seen look really good

Laurie, enjoy the cool weather, I think the heat is about to begin!

Laurie - Yes I finally tried Results Lower Body today. It had some moves that really burned the legs but overall I thought the cardio was easier (or maybe I just wasn't pushing myself very hard ). You can definitely cheat if you want to.

Lala - This is the Results workout Laurie and I are talking about:
http://www.amazon.com/Results-Fitne...ef=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1247159388&sr=8-1

There's also one with Tracey Staehle but I (and I think Laurie, too) don't mesh with Tracey.

No workout last night. I had an eye dr. appt. and my dilated eyes gave me a headache. Have to get additional screening for glaucoma because my pressure readings have been borderline high for several years now and the doctor looked at my optic nerve and thought it looked a litlte suspicious. I was reading online that being hypothyroid and near-sighted are 2 risk factors for glaucoma and I am both of those.

After Results Lower Body I did a Leslie mile, too.

DS12 was proudly showing me his bicep muscle this morning and I told him he was getting strong and those Pius boys (rival team) would have no chance against him. He explained to me that strength is #3 in importance for football. #1 and #2 are explosiveness and speed. He then demonstrated the difference in blocking with just your muscles vs. exploding and using your entire body to block. I then asked if he was doing plyometric training to work on his explosiveness and he didn't know what I was talking about so I demonstrated a plyo jack. He said they called that "dynamic training". I said "It's tough isn't it?" He said "No, not really." (young squirt)

Happy Birthday to me! Today is the 20th anniversary of my 25th birthday. We're going out to dinner Saturday night to celebrate since DH has a dr. appt. and needs to plan his lineup and field positions for tomorrow's bb game.

Hi BB's,

Today I did KPC, couldn't decide what what to do. Was suppose to run, didn't feel like it. Step sounded fun but hurts my knees so I opted to do kickboxing.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SUE. Enjoy your evening out. Funny about DS and his muscles. Kids have so much energy, wish I could harness a fraction of what they have. What are they going to do for your eyes?

Laurie, trying to shape up my legs, it is not working. I am tired of running again. I can't do any one thing to long it seems. It is a beautiful day for a run.

Lala, what rotation are you following? I am doing Cathe's July one with a few modifications because I will be gone this weekend at a wedding. Glad DD can swim again. It was a long time coming, but at least she can do it. Shoulder is not getting any better but the chiro really helped my elbow. Hopefully thereapy will help me avoid surgery.

Will be in Waukesha this weekend staying with my bro and sister-in law. They are watching the kids while we are at the wedding and reception. No kids allowed---again. I hope there are no more wedding where no kids are allowed. I am just thankful Tim and Annette are willing and able to watch the kids.

I am going to try Mt. Biking tonight with my boys and DH. He is borrowing a bike from the bike shop in Spooner. Wish me luck. I don't handle a bike very well because I am always on the back of a tandem.

Take care.
