BUFF BADGERS 2/28

Cathlete
Hi ladies! Well I'm either early or late to post!

I'm going to the travel agent with my friend today. We are looking for an all-inclusive place for May, probably Jamaica or Bahamas. I can't wait! Talk about motivation.....since we decided to do this last Thursday, I've worked out every day!

Today will be Cardio Coach V4 on the elliptical. A couple of years ago I got my best fitness results by alternating pure cardio days (about an hour) with AWT or weights days. I'm doing that now, but also trying to add 30 minutes of pure cardio to the weights only days. It's really hard with my work schedule, but I'm trying to make me a priority!

I still haven't found a condo I like, so I don't know if I'll be moving or not. The search continues.....

Have a great Tuesday everyone!
Jill

Morning BB's,

Jill we posted at the same time. :)

Today will be a 30 min. Run and PS Legs Floorwork & Abs.

Ellen, great job on the running. I haven't done more than 5 miles in a loooong time. :)

Jill, I could use one of those exotic vacations too. ;) Sound like you will have a good time.

Have a great day!

Hi,

Jill - Wow, planning a beach vacation sounds like fun. That's really something to look forward to!! I know how you feel fitting w/o's in with work - it's important to spend some time on yourself. I know your job sounds stressful, and family issues can sure make "me" time hard to find.

Last night I did (sigh) IMAX3. Sooooo much impact in this one. I like it, but I'm glad it only shows up once in my rotation this month. Tonight the rotation calls for a 40 min. run so I'm not sure yet what I will substitute for that.

March 1st tomorrow - yay! I only get paid once a MONTH so by the end of the month I'm always a little thin in the pocketbook!

Cheers! - Sarah

Hello,

I did HSC today. I'm still working out the best way to fit in weights with running. Sometimes I do a circuit and sometimes straight weights; I haven't found the right balance. I'm lucky to do it at all!

Jill, I'm so jealous of your beach vacation! ;) You definitely deserve it after your hectic schedule. And good for you for making you a priority.

Sarah, great job on Imax 3. Honestly, I think that is one of my least favorite workouts for some reason. I think it's almost too high everything for me. I don't do it in full form very often.

Hello to Laurie and everyone yet to come.

Hurray for March (almost)! Spring has to come eventually.

Take care,

Ellen

Yes, I'm very excited. This time of year is so hard, it helps tremendously to have something to look forward to.

I just hope I don't end up moving around that time! That wouldn't be easy lol.

Sarah, I didn't keep Imax3. Too much impact for me, so I can relate. Once a month payday? Sheesh! I don't even like twice a month!

Ellen, are you running every day? Is that why you have trouble with weights? I much prefer weights to cardio myself. LOL. It seems easier to me!

Hi BBs,
I am still sick but finally coughing less and not as congested. I am able to get away from the kleenex box for more than 5 minutes. Spent Sunday and Monday sleeping on and off on the couch. Obviously no workouts but hoping to start easing back into it either Wed or Thursday.

Jill - your vacation sounds great and just what you need right now. I love tropical vacations either the Caribbean or Mexico.

Sorry to hear about Cathe's latest setback with her injury or new injury! I wonder if this is from all the years of high impact. Not sure how many classes she teaches a day but I'm sure she does more than the usual person. Maybe we will be seeing more workouts like Low Max which would be OK with me.

Sarah - I can relate to the payday excitement being another once a monther. I switched from every 2 weeks to once a month and it was tough but I am used to it now but still look forward to the 1st of every month!

Ellen - I am also excited to turn the calendar to March and for the official or unofficial arrival of Spring!

Hi Marie. I'm glad you are feeling a little better. I had a cold for about 3 weeks this month!

Thanks for mentioning the new news. I barely get to check our thread let alone read others here, so I didn't know. How disappointing. I know it can't be helped, but I wonder if you're right and all the years of such high impact start taking a toll on our 40 y/o bodies. :( I wonder what the appreciation will be....an extra dvd included in our package would be nice! I paid for mine on 9/16. It realistically might be a YEAR before I have the dvds in hand!

I am thinking it might be a travel mug or gift certificate f0r something off a future order.

When I read the update it almost sounded like a different area to me anyway. If she was compensating for her original injury and moving differently that could very well lead to something new. I know that many people want high impact and intense from Cathe but I would be happy with high intensity, low impact. And if she is trying to appeal to more people at all levels, having modifications would be a good thing. I am sure this situation is very upsetting for her and a big concern since it is her career. I ordered back in September too and am hanging in there waiting. I am really more anxious for the next series she was going to do but that needs to wait for these so those might be next winter instead. Oh well - I have plenty to keep me busy in the meantime.

Good afternoon, ladies. . .

Jill - I'm envious of your vacation, too! Still trying to figure out what to do for a family vacation that doesn't cost an arm and a leg and is something fun for the kids.

Marie - Hope you get well soon! You're wise to rest so your body has a chance to recover.

Hello, other BBs!

Too busy to post yesterday but I signed on last night to get the bad news about Cathe. Argh! It must be sooooo frustrating. I don't know about the rest of you but Cathe's injury has forced me to examine my own workout routine. I'm trying to make sure I have more of a balance with not so much high impact and more core work and stretching. It will be interesting to see if this injury changes Cathe's workouts in any way - either with more high intensity/low impact or with someone else showing the high intensity moves.

Yesterday I did Power Circuit cardio + Step 'n Intervals cardio + PC abs. Today I did PS-SLA.

Sue

Regarding the Cathe new workouts - I'm disappointed too. It's a bummer. I'm just wondering what the new workouts will be like, impact-wise. After just doing Imax3 last night - that amount of impact seems kind of crazy. I modified some for my own well-being and still felt pretty pooped. I'm with you, Marie. I would love more high intensity, low impact. - Sarah

Yup---Low Max is by far my favorite of the HCs because it's really intense but low impact!

Hi Sue!

Sue - interesting that this is making you look at your own workout. I think that is great and it could make changes in Cathe workouts that are good for everyone. It seems that many of her fans keep saying they want tougher and tougher workouts and thinking they need to keep raising the height of their step to get a good workout. I don't think this is necessary to get a good workout. Maybe in the future there will be more of an emphasis on safety and concern with the long term implications of high impact. Variety and balance are a good thing.

We got the estimate for the Lippert shower and not too bad. $400-$600 more than acrylic which was less than I expected. It has my vote so now just need to see what DH thinks. That doesn't seem that much when you divide by the years that this will last. I was too sick to discuss this over the weekend.

Marie -

Glad to hear Lippert wasn't too much more expensive. You're right - it's a quality product that will last for years. And the good news is that now that the decision has been made, you can proceed with the remodel!

I think the reason I've been thinking about my workouts is because Cathe and I are the same age and with age comes a greater concern for the potential of injury and the longer recovery time. Everyone knows older bones don't heal as quickly as younger bones. The same has to be true of other parts of your body.

Also, the fact that Cathe is injured makes her seem more human to me as opposed to some marvel of athletic superiority - which she still is by the way;-) And if Cathe with her vast fitness knowledge as well can become injured, then I sure as heck can, too! (Which I haven't for awhile so you kind of forget.) Plus I know that too much high impact in any given week makes my old knee injury act up again. It's a warning sign to me to slow down. I still enjoy the high-impact but I know I can't do too much.

And for the people who want tougher and tougher workouts, where does it end? 60 minutes of plyo-jacks? No thanks. I also hope Cathe does a LowMax 2. Low-impact kickboxing would also be great. Anyhow, just my .02.

Sue
