BUFF BADGERS 11/7

Pedmom

Cathlete
Hi everyone. Bad news-I most likely will not make it to dinner tonight. I sprained my ankle yesterday and it's really hurting a lot. I had to call in to work even. I need to keep it elevated and iced as much as possible. If it feels better later I will come-I hope so!!!
I'll BBL...

Good morning,

Pedmom, so sorry to hear about your ankle! That is the same injury I have been battling but give it rest and patience and it will get better in no time!

Sorry I haven't posted in a while, just been busy I guess. I have been slowly getting back into Cathe after my hiatus due to injury, stress, etc. Today was LIS and the premix of the body sculpting on that DVD. Do any of you do LIS? I think it's a great workout even though it's intermediate. More intense and better choreography than Basic Step. I think I will also take a walk either at work or after work when I get home. I have found some killer treadmill routines for walking since I have been avoiding jogging. I have also been back to Weight Watchers the past 5 weeks and am down almost 5#. Seems to come off so slowly when you only want to lose 10-15#!! I just find that going to the meetings and tracking help me eat so much better and stay on track. Do any of you gals go to WW?

Jedi, did you get the message I left you a couple of weeks ago? Wasn't sure, plus I know you're busy. To answer your questions on here from last week...No, I do not currently go to a gym. I did before I moved but it was CHEAP! I find the membership fees way too expensive for the few times per week I actually go there. I have always found that when I do Cathe workouts and go to the gym I have a hard time finding a balance and end up overtraining because I want to do the Cathe stuff but also "get my money's worth" at the gym. Also, the main reason I like the gym is for the group classes, and other than spinning I find they just don't compare to Cathe! I have never worked with a personal trainer though, so that may be quite good if you hit a plateau or something. I think the gym is good though if you want more variety as well. Hope that helps. Give me a call soon!

Hope the rest of you have a great day, Badgers! Stay well and stay strong!

Hello BB
Today was Step Blast from FitTV.

Thea-I did get your message. I have been so busy but things are calming down now. I won't be home tonight but I will be the rest of the week. I'll give you a call. I love my spinning class. I still Cathe 99.9% of the time. On the days of my spinning class I do a Cathe DVD such as MM, ME, supersets etc. So I guess I do Cathe everyday with a spinning supplementation :)

Anyway, I hope everyone has a great day.:)

Hi all!

Oh Jill, I'm so sorry to hear about your ankle. Do you have a bag of frozen peas or corn??? I use to sprain my ankle a lot in high school and that works great because it is not as cold, and the small vege's form around your ankle. Hopefully you will be feeling better soon!

As for my workouts, BLAH! I did nothing all weekend. Not a stinking thing! I plan on getting back on track today. I'm think KPC today, I just really like doing that workout.

And I am not going to be able to make dinner either tonight :( I double booked myself, and I have to do the one I scheduled first unfortunately. I think I would rather come to dinner with you all though :(

I hope you have a nice Monday :)

Oh no! Two cancellations? How many does that leave. I am so sorry you guys! I really wanted to come, but honestly, this sprain is just bad and the more I walk on it the longer it will take to heal. :( :( :(

Robin I have a bag of frozen corn on it now lol. My knee gets a little sore though once in awhile, because I have my foot resting on a box under my desk and the knee is straight all the time.

I joined a new challenge over at my low carb board. It's a Biggest Loser challenge. There will even be a prize. But my prize will be getting back to my goal weight!

Hello Buff Badgers -

I just wanted you to know that seeing this thread makes me miss Wisconsin!!

My husband moves us around a lot due to his job. We lived in Delavan, Wisconsin for three years and LOVED it!! I met the most awesome, down to earth people and even some crazy Packer fans!! :)

Of all the places we've lived, Wisconsin is for sure one place I'd love to go back to!

I am now in Texas (which I also love) and it is so funny meeting people who have never even seen snow. CRAZY!! One of my kids was born during a snow storm in Wisconsin and my husband barely made it to the hospital -- it is such a great story now -- but the people down here can't really relate. Enjoy your fall weather!! (It still feels like summer down here at 86 degrees with high humidity!)

Have a good day, buff badgers!
Michelle

Jedi, that's great, give me a call when you get time or I can try and call you again too. I love spinning too, that is definitely what I miss most about not having a gym membership! I've even thought of saving $$ to have a spin bike at home but they are quite pricey. I think the gym closest to me has spin classes in the morning but they start a little too late for my liking since I like to be to work by 7:30am. Maybe something to consider in the future though!

Jill--I second using the frozen veggies as an ice pack!

Good morning,

Although I planned to start the November rotation today, I was too tired to get out of bed, so I'll move the week's rest day to today and start the rotation in earnest tomorrow.

I went for a couple of runs over the weekend that actually felt really good. I haven't gone running in several months, so it was a nice change. A friend of mine from Indiana wants me to sign up to do the Indy mini marathon next May, and I'm seriously thinking about doing it. I'd have to sign up pretty soon because it fills up really fast (even with 30,000 runners!). Have any of you ever done a half marathon? The longest event run I've ever done is a 10k. I just keep thinking that if my friend can do it, and several other friends of mine can do it, and none of them work out as much as I do, then surely I can, right? :) I think I'll have to join a gym to train though.

Jill, sorry to hear about your ankle! Take care of it; I hope you feel better soon.

Thea, I'm glad to see you posting again after all your injury recovery. And way to go on your weight loss. I've tried Weight Watchers online but have never had much luck with it. Maybe meetings are the way to go?

Michelle, my dad grew up in Delavan, and most of his side of the family still lives there. It's such a small town; I'm always surprised when anyone else has heard of it, let alone lived there :) I have many good memories of Delavan!

I hope you all have a great time at the dinner tonight!

Take care,

Ellen

Morning BB's,

I'm so sorry to hear about you ankle Jill, of course you need to take care of it. I am still willing to go out, so who is still left? So I was only planning on lifting some weights when I get home from work. I have about an hour before I would need to get ready to go to the resturant. PS Back & Biceps, Abs.

Have a great day!

Laurie

Waaaa I wanna go! I feel really bad you guys! I hope Sue and Marie can still make it Laurie. What a bummer Robin can't go either!

Michelle--I live in East Troy, very near Delavan. Delavan is a metropolis compare to ET lol. Population under 4,000 and one stoplight lol. You'd be surprised at how Delavan has grown the last few years. The undeveloped side of Hwy 43 and 50 is now very developed. There is a Kohl's and SuperWalmart, and several restaurants and strip malls. It's pretty fancy!

Just have to laugh about the development of Delavan. It has always been an event for my brothers and me to see the slow addition of fast food restaurants and other retail stores. I remember when our only option was Don's Pizza :) When I was there over the summer I was so surprised to see the new strip mall with the Panera! My grandma loves to update us on what's new :) But I always loved the small town-ness of Delavan. Now that I no longer live in the city where I grew up, I consider my parents' home towns of Delavan and Neenah to be more like "home," just because they're so familiar.

Jill - sorry about your ankle!

I can still make it if you still want to meet. What about you Sue? Are we sill on for tonight or do those left want to re-schedule for a different night? Next Monday I have a class but 11/21 & 11/28 are OK.

Marie

This summer we drove to the midwest to visit relatives and spent a few nights in Delavan. It really is growing with that new strip mall. Also I was sad to see the movie theater had closed. Me and my husband saw The Titanic there!

Of course all the circus stuff is still there -- it is so funny to see the Elephant and Giraffe out there on main street!! ha ha!

Then we went to Janesville and ate at Damon's. MY FAVORITE. They don't have Damon's down here and I REALLY miss it!

Ohhhh, now I'm really missing Wisconsin!

Michelle

Hey Marie,

I can still make it, but would be willing to change so that Jill and Robyn can make it also. No plans on Monday's for me so I am free anytime.

Hi Michelle - I lived in Illinois for awhile and moved back here. At one point had a chance to move to Florida but decided to stay. I like Wisconsin and the changing seasons even though I complain frequently during Jan & Feb. :) THis is my favorite time of the year though. Let us know if you ever come back and we could plan another get together if you would have the time.

Marie -- I do miss the changing of the seasons down here it Texas! I also lived in Illinois for awhile -- went to school in Normal/Bloomington and also lived in Rockford for awhile. I will for sure let ya'll know the next time we come up. However, our last trip took us 23 hours to drive home - and we drove straight through with two kids -- so it will be AWHILE before we do that again!!

Michelle

Marie & Laurie -

I can still make it and I think Michelle (Meecher) is coming, too. It would be nice to get together when Jill and Robin can make it though. If you guys decide to reschedule, shoot me an email okay? I'll have to let Michelle know then, too, because I don't think she gets to the forums very often.

Jill - Hope the ankle heals quickly. How did it happen?

Here's my rundown for the weekend:
Friday night I did Coremax #1 and Stretchmax #1 because I knew Saturday would be busy cleaning the house getting ready for my in-laws from Atlanta who were in town. I did manage to do Imax 1-5 Saturday night subbing this for a 30 minute interval run. No way was I going to go running during that wild storm we had!

On Sunday I did PLB and went heavy with the weights which I haven't done in awhile. Didn't fit in my 20 min. steady state run - maybe I can do it later in the week. Hams are sore today so it must have been a good leg workout.

This morning was PUB and the 1st 20 min. of 10-10-10 cardio to sub for the 20 min. steady state run. It's just too cold and windy lately to run outside and with no treadmill that's my only option other than trekking to the Y.

See some of you later! (maybe)

Sue

Hi, Michelle! I went to school in Whitewater so I knew some people from Delavan. Where in Texas do you live? I have cousins in Austin.
