BUFF BADGERS 1/12

Good morning ladies! I hope you all don't mind be starting every day. It's just easier for me to post in the morning before work gets crazy!

I woke up this morning with a little soreness-it's in between my shoulder and neck, in the back. Feels like the muscle that's worked while doing lateral raises. Hmmm. My workout won't be until late afternoon, so hopefully it will be stretched out by then. I may sneak in a Total Body Stretching segment to speed things along. I love those stretches although I didn't like Stretch Max. Dunno why-it just clicked with me more.

Today we'll be doing TLTs Strength in Movement. It's my favorite-an interval workout that uses the medicine ball. I need to pick up a 4lb ball-I think 6lb is going to be a bit heavy by the second cardio segment lol. Christy will use my 2lb one.

Have a great day!!

Jill - We both posted at the same time so I pasted below. Take care of your shoulder/neck area. I sometimes get tight back there, too and stretching helps.

I'm up bright and early this morning and wide awake even with though I haven't even had my caffeine yet - amazing.

Did HSTA and KPC abs (pikes 2x).

To all those who can't imagine exercising in the morning: I used to be one of you! I used to exercise at night but after the kids were born it just didn't work out. I started slowly doing a 20 min. step w/o one morning and was so tired and hungry the rest of the day I didn't think I could handle it. After about 2 weeks my body got used to the routine and I've been a morning exerciser for 6 years now. When I'm really tired, it's tough to get out of bed but usually once I get going I'm okay. If I'm really, really tired, I take a rest day.

Have a great day everyone!

Sue

Morning Sue! I'm sorry I didn't see your post this morning. :(

When do you get your TLTs? I can't wait to hear what you think of them. I hope you don't hate them after all my positive comments lol.

I suppose my body could get used to getting up at 5am, but I don't know if my brain would. LOL. I have such a negative mindset about it. Luckily for me I work from home most of the time and can do my workout during the day. My preference is around noon, but most days it gets put off until about 4:30.

Did you mean 2 pikes, or two SETS of pikes? I can't do them, so either way =

Whoops!

I accidentally posted in the "other" BB thread. I deleted that text. Sorry!!!

I'm starting the August '04 rotation for Legs & Glutes. Last night I did Legs & Glutes, and was SUPPOSED to tack on a 20 minute run. But as some comedian said "I don't run unless someone is chasing me". :) Since L & G is almost an hour in itself, that's all I had time for. I was going to add on some IMAX intevals or Lowmax intervals, but it was getting late and I had family stuff to do.

Sue - how do you like HSTA? It's used in my current rotation but I don't have it. Can anything substitute for it or is it a "must have"? You give me hope about being a morning exerciser - I guess maybe I could do it SOME day. But dang, I was so pooped this morning I sledge hammered the alarm at 6:45!!

Pikes - Yikes! I can get slightly beyond horizontal, but not much. That's one of those exercises that looks SO incredible when Cathe & crew do it, and soooooo sad when I try it. :(

Have a great day! - Sarah

RE: Whoops!

Hi Sarah. :) Do you have either of the other Cathe High Step workouts? I would think you could sub. them in, although they aren't quite as tough as TA IMO. LOL @ the pikes. Did you read last week when I said how mad I was? Christy, my workout buddy, who has not worked out in three years, did pikes perfectly on her first try!! I've been working out with Cathe dvds for almost 2 years and still can't do them. She said I actually did one lol, but I don't know. I think it's because I feel like I'm going to fall forward if I put my head down all the way. I also can't do a levitation hold.

LOL @ the running comment. I say that too. No running unless I'm trying to get away from someone. I just hate it. I like fast walking, or even a light jog. I even went out and bought some good NB running shoes, determined to be a runner. Never happened lol.

Good Morning fellow Badgers! I was up late last night so I slept in( til 5:20) and will work out this afternoon. I am a bit sore from yesterdays Muscle Endurance and when I got up I just stretched and did some Pilates. I am going to do Rythmic Step and the last 5 intervals of IMAX 2 after work. I haven't done RS in a while and am actually excited about it! It's one of my favorites! :)
I am truly a morning person. I always have been. I never sleep too much. I love mornings. I have been getting up early to workout for 18 years now. When I have to work out in the afternoon I don't feel like I put my all into it like I do in the early morning. It just starts my day off right when I workout before everyone awakens.
Hope you all have a great day! It's supposed to be 42 degrees here today!:) The sun is even shining on my back as I type. WHat a nice change! Stay strong- Susan

Good morning,

I got up early today to go to the gym and run. I'm going to try to do that fairly regularly; it was really nice... not too crowded at all, not like it is in the evening. And the sunrise was beautiful on my way home. It was a nice way to start the day.

I'm not sure who asked the question about morning exercise... I've alternated between early morning and after-work workouts for several years. I like getting my workout over with early in the day so I can't find reasons not to do it, and my only exercise space in the house is my living room, which isn't conducive to exercise when everyone's home at night. I usually can go a few months working out in the morning, and then my body refuses to get up early for a few weeks :)

Where have Thea and Jedi been? I haven't seen them check in in a while.

Have a great day! I just realized yesterday that this will be a three-day weekend; I'm looking forward to it. Lots of football to watch on Sunday, with Bears and Colts fans in my house (try not to throw things at me; I'm from Indiana, after all ;) )

Hi Jill

No - I don't have any of the High Step workouts. She released those in my "Working Mom with Infant Exercise Blackout Years" :) I'm trying to catch up my library still. I had my shopping cart filled with Muscle Endurance, HSTA and Kick, Punch, Crunch (and an extra step riser) and then I chickened out and clicked off the purchase page. Still recovering from the Christmas spending hangover and couldn't justify it. Waah. Why does Donald Trump get so much, and me so little? Not fair :)

Glad to hear there's another non-runner around! I just feel my knees couldn't take it and I really just don't feel like a runner. I don't like people lookin' at me on the street! "Whatchoo lookin' at!!??" as I bounce along.

- Sarah

Morning BB's,

I'm getting that morning thing in just under the time limit. :) I had training this morning, and I'm getting ready for a new computer tomorrow! Going to be busy installing all kinds of programs tomorrow. Hate that! And I hope I don't lose any of my files.

I never got that hot bath yesterday. I fell asleep on the couch at about 9:30pm, and DH had to practically carry me up the steps. Not an easy thing to do! x( I blame TTOM, because I hardly ever fall asleep like that.

Anyway today will be Step Works and first 5 Intervals of Imax1.

I tried to work out in the mornings, but then my second shift DH complained I made too much noise and it kept him awake. I don't like crabby DH's, so it is just easier to do it at night.

Thea, if I remember correctly, her employer was cracking down on internet usage. And Jedi I don't remember. Robyn hasn't been on lately either.

Have a great day!

Laurie

RE: Substitue

Sarah, if you have Cardio & Weights or Circuit Max, they could be subed for HSTA. I enjoy both HSTA and HSC. Don't know if they are "must haves". I like them because they use the high step.

Laurie

Hi BBs,

Laurie - it looks like you really ended up with a rest day.

This morning was to be a strength day and really wasn't feeling in the mood but ended up choosing Cardio Sculpt (Hollywood Trainer) which satisfied that requirement without the dread factor. Actually very little cardio.

I am loving the weatehr today. It must be 50 degrees now and sunny!! It feels and smells like Spring! I want to take the afternoon off but can't.

RE: Substitue

Sarah -

Laurie has good ideas for subs for HSTA. Another one would be Boot Camp. The high step workouts are fun because the cardio is different and the strength training has different moves like cross-over pushups where you do a pushup with 1 hand on the mini-step and the other hand on the floor and then do a pushup to the other side switching which hand is on the mini step.

Sue

Thanks for the sub ideas

I don't have Boot Camp, but I do have Circuit Max and Cardio & Weights. I think next month (I only get paid once a month) I may indulge in a few of the videos I've missed over the years. It sounds like the High Steps are a nice change. Gotta get me another riser, though! Thanks - Sarah :)

2 SETS of pikes! Yowza!!! I don't know if I do them right either. I feel them in my core so I must be doing something good but if I try to go up as high as Cathe I almost fall off my ball! I'll have to ask 1 of the kids to critique my form I guess.

Don't know how soon I'll get the TLTs. Received an initial email after ordering but haven't heard any more. I was hoping to have them by the end of this week which is tomorrow already.

Did you see the post about using furniture sliders instead of paper plates? I know you said you were able to lift your toes slightly but we have these at home so I think I'll give them a try.
