I haven't heard anything about dual passports, but I have heard that after December of this year it's going to be more difficult to get a US passport, so if you don't have one you should probably get one now.
By the way, I never knew this until now, but US passports are processed in New Orleans so God only knows when that office will be up and running.

I have not heard of this and judging by how both countries feel about sovereignty, I seriously doubt it could ever happen. My daughter was born here of British parents. She has to have separate UK and US passports. What is wrong with that? She has 2 nationalities after all. Personally, I would not wish, or wish her, to have a joint passport. Each nationality is quite distinct.
