Bring On IMAX3!!!

BelovedHeather

Cathlete
Good morning! Glory! I feel good! :7 I woke up at 4:00 a.m. this morning, listened to some praise music, and did my Bible study. I was bursting with energy, so I had a blast with IMAX2 instead of taking a rest day. I enjoyed a rest day on Sunday and did not feel the need for another one this week. I feel so good now. :7 Interval 9 is a new accomplishment for me. I made it through the whole interval without resting for the first time! :7 I thought I would have to get much closer to my goal weight before I could accomplish that. All things are possible! :) My endurance and overall stamina are improving much faster than my body is shedding fat. I packed up my scale on the 4th of July, so I do not know what I weigh. I am celebrating fitness accomplishments now. I am not where I want to be yet, but I am getting fit on the inside and waiting for the rest of my body to catch up! ;-) I have come a long way since I started training with Cathe last July. I am so excited that I cannot contain my joy this morning! :7

I want to buy some new Cathe workouts for my birthday later this month. I have been watching video clips of the Hardcore Series and trying to decide which ones will keep me entertained until the new ones are filmed and delivered. I do not have any of them yet. I would like to spend $130.00 or less. Please help me decide which ones to order. Which are your favorites and why?

Have a blessed Friday and weekend! :)

Blessings,
Heather B.

Heather...congrats on Interval 9!!!!!! I dread that one. Imax3 is tough but you might like it...:)...I have all the Hardcores and I really like the GS series for weight lifting. For cardio Lowmax is a good low impact interval and will surprise you. Do you want more of a focus on cardio or weights?...You have come a long way and have done an awesome job...:)

Do you want cardio or strength training or circuits or all of the above?

To be honest, I'd have a hard time choosing. They're ALL so great. I guess it depends what you're looking for. So, what ARE you looking for?:)

I'd highly recommend LowMax for cardio and MuscleMax for a terrific total body strength workout.

I suggest LowMax because it's unlike any of Cathe's other cardios (except Low Impact Step, which has 2 LowMax-like interval blasts, but isn't nearly as strenuous as LowMax), so it offers you more variety for cardio choices. It's a terrific low-joint-impact, high-cardio-intensity workout. Even the 45min step-only (no blasts) premix offers a nice workout on days when you just don't have it in you.

MuscleMax does the job, and does it good, all in one session. If you're looking for split workouts, nothing is better than the GymStyles, but if you don't have the time or inclination for that kind of heavy, time-consuming training, then go with MuscleMax.

To be perfectly frank, if you're just at the point of being able to make it through IMAX2's 9th interval (super job!!), then you might want to hold off on IMAX3 and KickMax for a bit longer. The blasts in these workouts are much higher impact than in IMAX2, and most are at least at the level of IMAX2's interval 9, or even harder. For the sake of your joints, stick with IMAX2 until you've lost some more weight. This is just a friendly suggestion; take it or leave it.

Having said that, if you really enjoy kickboxing, you might like KickMax for the Low-Impact premix. It's around an hour long, and includes a great warm up, 4 low-impact combos, and 20 minutes of leg conditioning drills.

Cheers,
Sandra

Heather,

Way to go! You are doing great!!

Get them all, you won't be disappointed, you can work yourself into these.

Hardcore Series

Girls:

I miss y’all at the daily check-in! Thank you for the responses here.

Sandra, that is exactly what I need to know. More than anything, I want some assurance that these are Cathe-quality workouts. I have read that some of them are choppy and poorly edited with sound and music issues. I want to know which workouts you believe are worth the investment.

By the way, I am very good at modifying workouts. I wrote in my Ya Yas journal that IMAX3 looks like a workout I will love when I am closer to my goal weight and lighter on my feet. Someone who is inspired by my journey offered to give it to me just so her unused copy will have a good home. That is the reason for my title for this thread. There is no way I would attempt all that jumping on and off the step while I am still hauling around 70-80 extra pounds. I wear Nike Shox. I can handle tuck jumps without discomfort, but standard jacks kill my joints for some reason. I still modify them.

It appears that IMAX3 has a step premix without all the blasts. If so, I can start learning the choreography now. I can modify the rest if I decide to give the whole thing a whirl. Just watching the video clip of IMAX3 inspires me. Something in me rises up and says, “I want to be free from this fat to do that!” Anything that inspires me to keep pressing on is a good thing.

I definitely want Low Max and Muscle Max. I love Boot Camp. I am considering High Step Challenge and Kick Max. The Gym Styles can wait.

Tell me about Hardcore Extreme. I love the Gauntlet and IMAX Extreme. Would it be better to start with the individual workouts first? Do you regret buying any of the Hardcore Series workouts?

Blessings,
Heather B.

Well if you make it through the 1st time i will kiss your bu**.
It is a tough one. I have no trouble with imax 2 but 3 is a whole other ball game.
When you do it try the step only 1st. Then try 1/2 of the workout .
I am telling you i almost died the 1st attempt.
But then agin you may handle it.

RE: Hardcore Series

Heather,

Yes, IMO, the HC Series is top-notch Cathe, although I can also see what people have complained about. There may be a few glitches with the production quality of the workouts, but, IMO, they are not substantial enough for me to regret my purchase. These days I find I reach for a workout from the HC series more than any other workouts. None of them are dust collectors.

IMAX3 is so much fun. I love that workout, even though it's so tough. There's something about it that leaves me in such a happy mood all day (relief that I survived? LOL!). I used the step-only premix frequently when I was in my last trimester of pregnancy.

I can't believe I forgot to mention High Step Challenge!! That's one of my favourite all-time workouts. It might actually be a nice transition-workout into the more intense blasts of IMAX3 and KickMax.

Hardcore Extreme contains, IMO, the hardest Cathe cardio workouts of all time - especially the third one. But, as people have pointed out, the editing leaves no room for a learning curve. If you are familiar with the original workouts, you can keep up with the pace of these workouts, but if you aren't, you will find them very, very difficult, and probably become frustrated right quick. Because all three workouts on the HE dvd contain IMAX3 intervals and the KickMax Blast Challenge, I would suggest you put HE on hold until you've gotten the hang of those two workouts. It's definitely worth getting at some point, though.

StretchMax is very, very similar to Total Body Stretching, just with longer sessions. Given how much I remember you liking TBS, you will probably like SM. CoreMax is also great.

I think you should just order the whole series, actually, and play with them at your own pace. And no, I don't regret buying any of the workouts. Did that help? :D

Cheers,
Sandra

Thank You!!!

Sandra:

Thank you for your helpful response. I want the whole series thanks to you! Texas is having a sales tax holiday, and a huge sporting goods store just opened here. I will have to see how much money I spend this weekend before I decide how many to order this month. ;-)

Blessings,
Heather B.

I have had IMAX3 since it has been out, but I have never been able to do the whole thing (I've probably tried 3 times) until this week. I did it on Thursday and decided I was not giving up. Now I'm not so afraid of it.

IMAX 2 is still my favorite of the 3 though.

In regards to the title of your thread:

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

LOL! Hey, I JUST mastered Low Impact Step.

Cardio Lover!!!

Michele:

Don’t think I missed your response to Cathe’s latest update. ;-) I know that you are a closet cardio lover now! :7

I love love love Kick Max. I have done it so many times and every time it kicks my butt. I also love High Step Challenge, and the Boot Camp + Muscle Endurance. I have so many of Cathe's DVD. Any one that you pick you are sure to love and get an amazing exercise from!! :7

Hardcore Series Surprise!!!

I shared last week that a sweet lady who has been reading my journal over at the Ya Yas offered to give me IMAX3 so her unused DVD would have a good home. I offered to pay for shipping, but she blessed me by covering the postage too. My package arrived today, and she surprised me by sending Hardcore Extreme, IMAX3, Low Max, Kick Max, and High Step Challenge! :) I can afford to buy the rest of the series. Thanks to her kindness, the whole series will cost me what everyone else paid for the original presale! I am blown away that someone I have never met would do this for me. She could have easily sold these on the Ya Yas Swap.

I started previewing Low Max tonight. It looks like a lot of fun! :) I have not watched the whole thing, but the music sounds good so far. The premix I watched played fine as well.

I am excited! I have new Cathe workouts to preview. I am hoping to learn the choreography and start a Hardcore Series rotation next month. Did I mention that I love surprises? :7

Blessings,
Heather B.

I agree about interval 9! I dread it too! Ugh. It's so hard. My absolute least favorite one, though, is interval 5. It kills me! I always have to take a break after that one and walk around for a minute because it always makes me nauseous.
Congratulations on getting through the whole thing! I've been working out and stepping for years now and I still have to take that water break after interval 5!
