Have any of you seen this yet? I know it just came out today, so it's a little early to ask. But my son wants to have his b-day party at the local theater to see that movie. I want to make sure that it's not one of those films that I will get a phone call from an angery parent in 2 weeks saying their child hasn't slept in 2 weeks due to the movie that I took them to see.
I've been reading reviews, and there is no mention of antying scary. But I just want to make sure.

Thanks for your help!

Kathy

Hi Kathy--

I haven't seen the movie, but the book is great.SPOILER ALERT!!!!!

One thing to know if you haven't read the book is that one of the main characters dies. I'm not 100% positive that it happens in the movie, but I can't see how they would get around it.....

Hi-

Actually, I just got back from taking my son to see it.

He is 5-1/2 and he thought it was OK.. HOwever, I thought it was awful, nothing like what I thought it would be. I thought it would be kind of like the "Chronicles of Narnia" and its not at all. There is very little special effects and I thought it was fairly slow paced. I don't think there is really anything too objectionable, but the previous poster is oorrect on the "spoiler" info... that does indeed happen.

We also went w/ a couple of 7-1/2 year old boys and a 9 year old girl. They all thought it was boring as well.

I have not read the book, but had heard it was great!! I was very disappointed in the movie. If you haven't seen Night at the Museum, I would recommend that over this totally.

I'll be curious to see what others think, but I definitely give it a thumbs down.

Take care, Lynn M.

I have no idea about the movie, but the book is spectactular. I have a feeling the movie will be average, nothing compared to the book.

I used to read this book aloud to my third grade class. I would not recommend it to anyone under the age of 8.

I need to read it again. I love it.

I haven't seen the movie yet, but probably will at some point.

The first thing I thought whenn I heard the title was "who would choose an impossible-to-pronounce-without-thounding-like-you're-lithping name for a country?"
