breakfast before weight training

Hi,
I was just wondering what you all eat before doing one of Cathe's weight training workouts? Like Pyramid upper body or Maximum Intensity strength. I've been having a protein bar and a banana before a weight workout. The protein bar is usually around 15 grams of protein. I know protein shakes are good or egg whites.
Just curious as to what you all eat before one of Cathe's grueling workouts.

Hi Michelle...before most of my workouts, weight or cardio, I have a half of a balance or genisoy protein bar and 2 cups of coffee. I drink water thru most of the workouts also. I like a protein shake after my weight workouts for muscle recovery. I have heard Whey is the best but I also use soy protein and still get results....:)...Carole
 
I have half a cup of plain lowfat yogurt mixed with half a cup of grapes or crushed pineapple and a teaspoon of almonds and a cup of green tea.

I eat extra light in the a.m. because I like to start working out 30-45 minutes after getting up. It keeps me going and I drink a lot of water during the workouts.
 
i don't eat anything... i get up... get dressed... and get working out... then i get ready for work and eat my breakfast once i get there! (or on weekends cook my breakfast right after my workout)
 
I find it very hard for me to eat anything before I w/o since I start so early (4:45 or 5:00 a.m.).

If I'm doing weight training I will make sure to have a little protein shake (made with water only) followed by an amino complex afterwards. For cardio, I won't have anything but water, before, during & after my w/o. Then I have breakfast when I get to work.

For some reason I get very nausea if I try to eat anything before a w/o and esp. if I eat before I go to work. I think it's the rocking of the train;( .

Thanks for all the feedback. I've tried not eating and working out and I feel really weak. I find putting something in my stomach helps my energy level.

I'm another one that doesn't eat anything unless I'm working out in the afternoon. I get up, work-out and then eat breakfast. I just have a big glass of water before I begin.

You are not alone, Michelle. I too have to eat something before working out or I am worthless. x(

I lean towards carbs before a work out if I just need to eat a snack...or, most times, because I tend to work out in the evenings, it's after dinner so I have plenty of "energy" to get through it! :)

Another non - eater here although I do have 2 cups of coffee before I start.........thats "my" exercise fuel

After a workout Ill have cereal and yogert or some jam on toast (muti grain or rye bread always) annnnnnnnnnd more coffee
