Bread Machines

Hello Everybody

Someone just posted a question for recipes for bread machines. I had a Dak Bread Machine, which I really loved, but it went to bread machine heaven. Then I bought another brand, which didn't have the same results that the Dak machine had. The bread was dry using the same recipes that when using the Dak they came out great. I gave that bread machine away. That was a couple of years ago. I miss baking that bread, so I am planning on buying another bread machine. Do you have any suggestions on which machine to buy. The Dak I believe is about $ 200; so I was wondering if there are another manufacturers of other machines you could recommend.

I don't use a bread machine. I just purchased a Bosch mixer and make 4-5 loafs of bread at a time. I just use regular bread pans. I am still learning how to make a good loaf of bread though. I need a good recipe using freshly ground wheat....

I live a mile from the King Arthur Flour store (Norwich, VT). At their recommendation I bought a Zojurishi. That was 7 years ago, it has served well. I only use it now to mix the bread as I never liked the bread machine loaf. I like making hand formed breads like challah or baguettes.

I recommend King Arthur Flour, they have a tech support line for those questions about flours.

I'm also a Bosch bread maker. I try and make 3-4 loaves at a time. You can find some on ebay or consigned for a little more than a $200 bread machine. Like Dave, I also don't care for the bread machine loaf and like to make my own free form or use a pan.

Sorry this really doesn't answer your question! Using a Bosch too, also lets you use the machine for cookies, whipping eggs, some come w/a blender which is awesome. A real heavy duty machine.

Good Luck,
Mary:)

I also use my bread machine to make homemade jam. It tastes so good, my kids won't eat the store brought kind anymore.

Chocolate IS the answer, regardless of the question.
