hello forum: any of you have and use the bosu balance trainer. do you recomend it? I was checking prices and are over a $100 is it worth it?

Hi.

I purchased the bosu and when I stood on it for the first time I thought "WHOA! Did I just waste my money?" But, after getting used to it, I enjoy it very much. It's a very intense workout being that the stepping surface is small and it moves!!!

I have Season Ziegler's workout for that one. She does some very creative stepping as well as a very good core routine at the end. It's on a DVD with Michelle Twombly. A Double Cardio DVD. I can't remember the name of it at the moment.

Have a great day!

sometimes when i go to the gym i use one of these in a class. i do not think that it is worth it for the price but that is just me.

I *just* got one and am VERY excited about it. I've only done the introductory workout that came with it, and I was surprised at how sore my legs were the next day, from doing what appeared to be very simple moves. My core was also REALLY worked. I got a big collection of Bosu specific workouts as loaners from a friend, and will start to use those to see which of the workouts I'd like to purchase.

I think I'm really going to love this for both lower body and core work. Sports Authority has it for $99, which is where I got mine.

I have one. I don't use it much but I don't regret buying it--it does have a place in almost any routine.

This Sat. I have a training session at the gym, & I told the trainer to put together the toughest workout he could think of that I could do at home w/the bosu, light dumbells & a stability ball. I'll let you guys know what he comes up with on Monday.

I also have one and have a Rob Glick workout. It's tough and I like that a lot of step moves are used. I think it's a good investment because you can use it for cardio and building balance and core strength.

The bosu is a great piece of exercise equipment. You are only limited by your own imagination as far as how to use it/what to do with it. Doing advanced ab work on the bosu is killer.

I have two bosu's and use them together for various exercise routine's such as running, impact work like ski jumping side to side from one bosu to the other, etc. Use your imagination and make this the most used piece of equipment in your house.

You can do any/all of Cathe's impact moves on the bosu such as tuck jumps, etc. only you're adding the extra element of keeping your balance to these moves.

A real test of balance is doing push ups with hands on one bosu and one foot on the other bosu. Or hands on a bosu and feet on a stability ball, hands on bosu and feet on stability ball doing pikes.

I know it costs $100 but boy, it is so worth the money for what you can do with it and what it does to your body.

HI!!
Sorry I didn't read the above (too lazy:+) so sorry if I repeat anything already said. I use the BOSU at the gym. Its a great thing! I would recommend it. Whatever you do really engages your core muscles when you stabilize. My favorite exercise on it is turning the BOSU over (so the ball is on the ground and the bottom is on the top) you get on, and squat w/ a barbell. Of couse they are soo many exercises you can do on them. I realy recommend it! If you have digital cable, on channel 121 there is a show called All Star Workouts and one of the workouts is "BOSU Strength with David Weck" David Weck is the creater of the BOSU Ball. Anway, I strongly believe you should have one. Its great:)

I'm discovering that if you simply do *regular* ab workouts on the Bosu, they suddenly become super advanced! I like the Bosu much better for this than the stability ball for some reason. Just do crunches (slow, and really let your upper body fall back over the ball to stretch out the abs, and while lifting, keep your shoulders retracted back and lift completely with your abs - do 10 of these and your abs will be on fire!), oblique crunches, side lying oblique work with hips stacked on Bosu. Then, if you have these mastered, try doing bicycles, in and outs, leg lifts (but never let your feet hit the floor - balance with lower back on top of Bosu, and extend both upper and lower body so you are a board - this alone is tough. Then slowly raise both feet as far as you can, holding your upper body balanced straight, then slowly lower the legs back to parallel. Wicked.), v-sits....

Then flip the Bosu over so the curve is on the floor, and do planks holding the platform. Do all the plank variations that Cathe does - lift one leg, lift one leg and sweep it out to the side, bring one knee into your chest, etc.

It makes anything you do on the floor 10x more difficult if you do it on the Bosu. I'm loving mine! ARX, Ab Hits and Core Max will never be the same! :)
