Book: The Help

The Help was such an awesome book! I loved every page of it!! I loved the characters and the writing.

Thanks to all the book lovers here who recommended it! I had a giftcard to Amazon and ordered it (along with 4 others!).

I loved it and recommend it to others. It was about 3 women in the deep south in the 1960s. It was a great read! (And BTW Nancy, it is not heartbreaking, like you thought! The story and characters have stuck with me but not in a haunting way!)

Any other good reads? I loved that this was not the typical romantic comedy like the last 3 books that I have read!

Have you read The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Society? Or Water for Elephants? I found I enjoyed both of them as much as The Help.

Have you read The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Society?
I LOVE THIS BOOK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I will probably read it at least a dozen times over the next couple of years and I recommend it to everyone I know who loves to read.

The Help is actually on its way here! I have had that on my wish list for a while now, and it's been on hold at the library for months so I got tired of waiting and ordered my own. :p I have heard nothing but praise for it.

Ys, I read The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Society this summer! I also loved it!! I have recommended that one to lots of friends, too.

I will look at the other suggestions, too and spend the rest of that giftcard!!

Thanks for the suggestions!!

I read Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Society too and liked it a lot. Thanks for reviewing The Help. I'll go get it today.

Yay...some new books to read! I will go ahead and put a hold on every one of them(except Water for Elephants..already read it and LOVED it).

Thanks for this thread...:)

For those who have read TGLAPPPS, have you watched the British series Island at War? It is six shows (3 disks) and ends a bit abruptly, but it really does a great job of getting into the emotional state of the people on the Channel Islands, those who live there and the soldiers, at the beginning of the occupation. It wasn't exactly gripping, but it was good enough and I thought it was very interesting.

I just ordered Water for Elephants, too. Man, I really need to stop opening these book threads. :p
