Bodymax - anyone do it this way?

Bebop

Cathlete
I'm doing the Cathe endurance rotation -tomorrow I am attempting Bodymax all the way through - I usually use it as 3 workouts.

I am thinking of reversing it and doing the strength portion first and then doing the two cardios back to back. Anyone else do it this way?

I'm think of doing it this way because I really want to get the most out of the strength workout and I don't want to be too tired after the aerobics.

Thanks.

I guess it depends what you consider harder, the cardio or the weights. I think I personally consider the 2 cardio sections harder (although also alot of fun). When I get to the weight section I feel like its down hill. If I reversed it, I think I would be to tired to do the cardio. hmmm.. But maybe not. It's actually an interesting idea, maybe I'll have to try this myself. Thanks for the idea.:)

Well, I did it this morning reversed - I was exhausted by the end of the second step section - but I had enough energy for the strength training.

I think the next time I do it I'll try it the way it was filmed and compare.

Considering this was the first time I've done the entire tape I'm quite pleased.

I agree with shilo. WHen I do Body Max, the lifting part is the easier part for me.I like to think of it as comming back down the hill.I think the same way when I am doing a Iterval video and I am half way thru. When I get to interval #6, I say,o.k I am going back down the hill.:+ I won't tell you what I say when I am going up the hill though!
I think either way you put it, BM is a excellent video. It is one of my favorites. And it was my first workout I ever bought by Cathe. What an impression she left me with.
I can remember when I started doing it.Of course I had to work my way up.But eventually I did it all and I can remember my muscles shaking while I was working triceps and my sister said to me...you know, you don't have to do it all in one day.You can save some for tomorrow.:7 But I didn't lister.
Have fun with it...

I just had to say that Lori and I seem to think the same way!! I always think that I'm "going downhill" when I get to interval 6 in Imax2!! Bebop- Way to go with getting through the whole of Bodymax at one time!! When it comes down to it, I don't think it matters how you do it-as long as you do it!!:) Bodymax was also one of my 1st Cathe workouts and I love it. I remember reading so many comments on the Ya-Ya sight about how hard it is that I almost canceled my order. My husband talked me in to keeping it and just working up to it. As it turned out I found it very doable,(I just used a 4 inch step and light weights until I got the hang of it). Its one of my favorite workouts now along with the whole intensity series!:)

Thanks Shilo for the words of encouragement! I am going to do the tape next time as filmed. By the way - I just did Power Hour - LOL - I forgot how hard it is - I'm loving the Cathe endurance rotation - when I'm done I'm going to attempt her fat loss definition one - Bodymax is scheduled in that one too.

As I was doing Power hour - I enjoyed the fact that it was challenging but I just couldn't help compare it with Muscle Endurance which I think has more of a fun factor.

I can't wait for the bodyblast series - isn't there a workout scheduled that sounds like a bodymax?

I do the warm up then I alternate the aerobic sections with the weight section. I really like the first step routine on this video. It is fun and challenging. The few times I have done this tape all the way through I have been trembling by the end of the last circuit. I rarely have the time to do the whole tape. It is a very useful tape for me though, in this format.

I did this workout today. It really never gets any easier does it? But I really love this workout! I feel so worked out afterwards. I did the weights last the way it was designed but I think I'm just so used to doing it this way. I expect that doing the weights first would really add to the muscle confusion. There's always a great feeling of accomplishment when this workout is finished. I always do the step work with a 6 inch step ( I'm short). I wouldn't mind knowing what others use. :)

Shilo - I'm short too. I do the step portions on the lowest rung of my step - to be honest with you, I've never measured it! I get a great aerobic workout and it's easy on my knees.

When I do leg presses I just raise the step to the highest it goes - then depending on how I feel, I just make them harder by holding more weight. It's funny, but some how you never really get information about adjusting your step for your height - it's just something you kind of figure out for yourself - at least that is how it was for me.

Hi Bebop! I actually always used an 8 inch step until I finally got my 1st Cathe workout (which was Body Max). When I previewed the tape I realized that this was no Kathy Smith (my previous workouts of choice). I knew if I tried using 8 inches with Cathe I would probably land on my face. Now I always use 6 inches with Cathe and I'm sure my heart rate is up there. I think the shorter step has increased the pleasure of the workout for me, and as you have stated, its definately easier on the knees.:)

Hi all,

This topic jumped out at me as I have been doing the rotation with Body Max(haven't done this tape in a while) and I did it today.

This is definately one of my all time favorites. It has everything you need in one workout and the cardio is tough!!!!! This is definately trying a few times before making it all the way thru!

I too do it the way it was filmed. I find Cardio to take more out of me than weights! Probably because I actually like lifting weights more! So I always do the cardio first!!! I don't know if I would be able to complete the whole tape if I did the weights section first.

Looking forward to the Body Blast series! Yeah - also on the verge of ordering the CTX series. Cannot get enough!!!!!

Bye all!
