Yep, tytbody is right. The wonderful thing about BFL is that you don't have to count! You just naturally vary your calories. I have spent quite a bit of time on the phone w/the EAS folks (you can call for advice on the program anytime) and have learned that is important w/bfl that you do NOT count calories. You should eat different foods often so that you are not letting your body adjust. By varying your foods you will naturally have higher and lower days in regard to calories, carbs etc. It is all about choosing the RIGHT foods and eating the right PORTIONS. On days that I can feel my body being over hungry and needing the carbs I eat a portion of whole wheat bread or make sure to have a potato for dinner, something that helps fill me up - days that I feel I can eat less I don't.
Also, before I got preggo w/my last baby I was counting calories on fitday just to see what they came in at. It did help me in realizing the types of food that made my calories spike so high. However, when I asked EAS about it they said to STOP counting and that you shouldn't worry so much about calories and that when you start counting then you start selecting and narrowing your foods too much, and then end up without the variation that is so needed with this program.
There is also a great reference site www.hussman.org It has great info on the program, how our bodies use the food and why bfl works!
Hope that all made sense
