Hi Ladies,
I am 16 weeks pregnant and just got back from getting my blood test resluts from the quad test. I got a postive so I was referred to go get a 2nd level sonogram on the 19th. I was warned about the false positives especially at my age, but I am still worried.
Just wondered if anyone else had been through this. TIA

Susan--I haven't been through it, but I just wanted you to know that I'll be praying the sonogram shows good news. Please keep us posted... ((Hugs))

Yes,

When I was pregnant with my twins I got a positive but at the time we didn't know I was pregnant with twins, that was the reason for me getting a positive. Everything will be fine, I will keep you in my prayers.

P.S. Did you concieve naturally? (I will be 41 in a few days, we have been trying for #6 for almost 2 years now)

Lourdes

Hi Lourdes,
Thanks for your input! Yes I conceived naturally. I am 42. Have you seen a dr about fertility treatments?

I'm so sorry Susan! My dr. doesn't even do the quad test anymore because of the high incidences of false positives. I opted for the more intensive screening where blood is drawn twice a month apart and an ultrasound done to check neck measurements. I'll pray that everything turns out alright. Please keep us updated.

I refused the quad test with my 2nd and 3rd pregnancy. I just did the 20 week ultrasound. Good luck

Thanks Lisa Suzette and Wendy! Dr said there was only a 2% chance of anything being wrong. I am just trying to keep busy and trying not to worry....but I take after my Nana and I fret about everything:)

I had a false negative with Justin (it was a triple test then). It came up positive for down's syndrome. The only way to know for sure was to have an amniocentesis .....but we had Level 2 u/s, & he didn't show any abnormalities. I was 30 at the time and the risk of an amniocentesis did not weight the risks of downs syndrome. When it came down to it, we decided we wouldn't end pg anyway,...so Level 2 was our choice.

The false positive robbed so much enjoyment out of that pg b/c I worried the entire time. :( I now don't recommend that anyone get that test! I'm sure everything will be fine, but will pray nevertheless!!!

Melanie thanks so much! I go for the level 2 on the 19th. I will have the option for the amnio the same day I belive..but I doubt I do it.
How are you feeling???
