blood pressure

I had a check up and had my blood pressure taken. The nurse looks at me and say it is 98/60, is it always that low? I said yes. I thought those we good numbers?! Does anyone know what the range is suppose to be? Is mine too low? That has been the norm for awhile now. It has been 90/60 before. Should I be worried?

My blood pressure is always there. My mom's blood pressure is always that low. I am sorryy, but I am mad after reading your post. My mom, my sister and my aunt are all nurses, and it is stupid for one to give you any kind of look that would make you believe feel like something is wrong without assuring you there is not. Or maybe she is new and I am just being insensitive. In any case, as long as this is normal for you and you don't feel light headed, you are fine and healthy!

Mine is usually that low and I don't think you have anything to worry about, but if it gets below 90, I would look into it.
This past week, after a workout, I went to the eye doctors and got my blood pressure taken (approx 1 hour after the workout) and it was 138/62..guess the workout had something to do with that??? Dunno.

I feel a lot better knowing that I am not the only one with blood pressure that low. The nurse was not new either. It started to bother me when I left and started to think about it more. Thanks ladies!:)

I have never had mine taken after a workout Charlotte so I don't know what mine does. Might have to look into that out of curiousity now! LOL! Sometimes I wonder if mine goes up when my three boys drive me nuts, the little angels!! LOL!!

Mine is that low too. When I had foot surgery, my resting heart rate dropped to 38 and the nurses were freaking because that's when you are supposed to call for help. Mines naturally low and lower still with exercise.

Sabrina, it does go up. I had mine taken every week when I was in a study at the U of A and it was elevated the one time I took my kids iwth me!

McKeev...I have had low blood pressure all my life and exercising regularly can contribute to lowered bp as well. My doctor's over the years have always told me not to worry about it that low bp is better than high but I have always been advised to not give blood so I don't. My mother and one of my sister's also have low bp so perhaps we are just genetically predisposed. My bp almost always is 90 over 58-60. I have had a few times where my top number was in the 80's.

If I have a need to change doctor's and am seeing a new nurse I always tell them before they put the cuff on that my pressure will be quite low. I've had nurses take my bpressure 2 & 3 times. I once went into the ER with an ovarian cyst and I was in awful pain and not paying attention to what anyone was doing so when my doctor got there and he's looking over my chart he commented that I must be in alot of pain because he had never seen my bp go over a 100 before.

One bad side effect is I always get headaches when TOM comes especially if it starts out really heavy. I've had bad nose bleeds from sports injuries just literally sap the life out of me for a couple of days. You need to make sure you are meeting your iron requirements.

i am sure the nurse was just SHOCKED.....as many many people have elevated BP....it seems if the majority of americans are not the picture of health anymore....i am a nurse.....and the norm for me is seeing bad BP readings!

My mom is 71 a retired nurse of like 50 years ... Anyway , She says The only real way to know if you have blood pressure issues is to take your blood pressure many times a day , for like 8 plus weeks .. write it all down . time etc ... and then take your notes to your Dr !!! So stop worring !!! :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :)

if you're still walking around, then i gues it's not too low! :) that's what we say at work anyway. not sure if you need to worry unless it's high.
