I know this is an old thread...BUT..I was doing a search to see what people thought of Bikram Yoga and what their experiences might be
I just started this on Friday and absolutely love it! I never thought of myself as a yoga type person and maybe the reason I like it so well is that it doesn't fit my idea of what yoga is. I don't know exactly what I expected, but it whatever I imagined, I was pleasantly surprised.
I will say that anyone who knows me, knows that nothing makes my whine like a bratty little girl more than the heat. Hello! I live in the High Sierras...our winter temps are often below 0 and I am just fine with that. Anyway, going into a room at 105 took my breath away. Thank the Lord I got to lay down!
Once class got started I was already sweating. At one point, in an upside down sort of posture, the sweat on my face actually started to run UP my nose...kind of rough on the breathing through your nose strategy.
Anyway, to avoid any novels here, I will just say that I am hooked. I honestly say you get used to the heat. It allows me to stretch deeper and much further than I thought I could. It is totally relaxing, and I honestly feel like I came out of a massage when I leave that sweatbox, I mean room.
Anyone else have experience with this?
