Biggest loser - thoughts on new twist?

It just seems like expecting a huge weight loss the first week, weight loss that is in large portion water and the heavier the person the more water weight there is, is just setting them up for failure. No one can maintain that kind of weekly loss and as the weeks go by the amount lost per week would drop.

It was a great episode .. but shocking how big they were .. especially the 18 and 19 year olds .. bless their hearts!! I cant imagine trying to move that much extra weight during exercise!!!

The twist .. I have mixed feelings ... on one hand it will make the one that stays on the ranch work a lot harder and not give up and may have the same affect on the one sent home knowing they will have to come back to the show .. but on the other hand ... it is a COUPLES show .. and having that support there for you is pricelss ... and to get there and only have one week there .. and have to leave .. that is terrible!!! and yes being dissapointed at a 10 -15 pound weight loss is unimaginable!!!

On the trainer - Jillian hands down!! She knows when to push and she knows when to back off .. and she is done w/you if you dont play it her way!! LOL Bob is a little too "namaste" .. although the previews show him looking more like Jillian in his training .. LOL!!!

It will be an excellent show .. and I too am rooting for the kiddos to whoop bootie!! But everyone of theses contestant really need a chance to live healthy and learn to be healthy!!!:)

I thought it was an inspiring show last night - emotional and supportive. I'm fine with the twist - I can't wait to see how it plays out.

I did think the silver team (with the largest woman) had some negative energy between/around them. We'll see how it goes.

Thankfully nothing like Vicki seemed to be there!

I really enjoyed this first episode as well. I was very mixed about the twist - when I first heard about it I was mad - but then when she added that they could come back in 30 days - I thought it was an interesting way to handle it. I think it should be motivational for both people. So if you figure that they vote off one person a week - there would only be like 4 people that wouldnt be able to make it back out of the 9 - so that is decent odds with that twist.

I was happy to see which on the 2 partners stayed, except forthe grey team - I think the bigger of the two should have stayed - esp since the one that stayed is the one that seems to complain more than workout - and I am pretty sure is the one that sends Bob over the line in the upcoming episodes.

That is America these days - wow - they are all just SO huge. I hope the young kids really make it work. And so far - so good on the no Vicki thing... hopefully it will stay that way.

In the clips when they were deciding who stays, they definitely made it look like she was bullying her partner into letting her stay.

On the trainer question, Jillian!!!! I've used her workouts from her book, and they produced great results, I just really like her style. I love Bob on the show too, it's really just the yoga thing I don't like all that much. It's interesting, so far the majority, if not all of us, on the boards so far prefer the Jillian style.

I'm really happy this season looks good again, this show was a very big inspiration for me years ago, and it was just a disappointing last season for me. This one, is much more touching, and I already find myself rooting for people.

I'm still not so sure I like the twist for reasons that have already been posted above.

I'm with those that did not like the twist. It just seemed so cruel to get the contestants hopes up, let them be there for a week, then yank them away. It would've been less cruel to at least let them stay a few weeks, maybe even a month, to get acclimated. To teach them to eat right, how to exercise, etc. Give them some help before sending them off on their own.

Four of the people (if they eliminate 1/wk) will not get the chance to come back. I just thought it was really sad messing with their emotions. Can you tell I really did not like the twist one bit?!

I also think the winner should get more than $250,000. Think how much they'll lose in taxes. Compared to shows like Survivor where the winner gets a million, the Biggest Loser contestants work their a$$es off and deserve more! The downfall is though you could get more contestants like Vicki who are mostly in it for the money...

Thanks for letting me vent.
