BFL - Wed - 6/18

Good morning all!

Today is LBWO, PLB this time. DH joined me again. This is really kind of cute because we aren’t fighting over the same weights – I’m going heavier - thank you Cathe!

We have a refrigerator full of veggies and lean meat. I think DH got a bit more than was on the short list. I hope we eat all of it before it goes bad.

Kids are out of school since last Friday, but it doesn’t feel like it’s slowed down. At least it’s mostly the fun stuff – swimming, skating, robots, rockets, ceramics, scout stuff – those are all the things at the top of the list. I just finished reading Rhett Butler's People, so now we're watching Gone with the Wind over the next couple of nights.


Gayle – Yeah! School’s out for you, too. Hope you enjoyed the day swimming. The summer session at school does sound like it will be a challenge for you, but I’m sure you are up to it! What a wild weekend you had.

Amelia – Should I ask how the interview went? Hope it works out for you. I know how hard it is to go back, and when you have kids. How are the DOMS today?

Heidi – Your regular train adventures have to drive you crazy sometimes. At least you can workout to relieve some of the stress. Now your DH says you could have gone on the RT? Maybe we can catch up with everyone next year.

Michelle – So nice to have you back. What did you do for your workout? 6 weeks can do wonders for you!

Kathy – Will you be able to continue to train for an August race as it gets hotter? Maybe it’s not that bad by you (as I’m sitting in sweats). Bummer about having to wait until next weekend for the loader again.

Melissa – Nice to see you are getting good use of the bike and the CC’s. I agree about the ice cream weakness. Great that you can see photos of yourself and like what you see.

Belinda – I’m sure you feel so pressed for time to get everything down before you go. That’s great that you are getting your DD on board with Kathy. Mine tries, but doesn’t always get the choreography. I’ve actually thought about digging out my Firms for her.

Carolyn – Sorry the funeral was so rushed. Hopefully the family can remember the great years that you FIL lived. Working out will help your mood!


Have a hard, sweaty workout and a clean-eating day! (2 days very clean and counting!)
 
Hi, Sherry! I just picked up the BOOK Gone With the Wind from the library yesterday. I've NEVER read it, nor seen the movie. The book is over 1000 pages! LOL As for PLB...I LOVE that you're using heavier weights than DH! I'd LOVE to see him continue this with you! What a great influence you are on him! KEEP IT UP!!!

I'm taking the kids to the amusement park today. They have a new roller coaster called "Voodoo" that the kids are DYING to try out. I'm not sure if younger DS will hit the 52" height requirement, but he'll be close. Maybe I'll put his Heeleys on him since they have a higher sole! LOL We absolutely LOVE roller coasters...the higher, the more flips and turns, the BETTER!

This morning I slep in till 6am! Felt good to not have anywhere to be by a specific time. So I hit the basement for upper body. I hemmed and hawed all night and this morning CTX was calling my name from the shelf. So I did the CTX Upper Body Split. I love that workout. Tough endurance workout, and it always leaves me sweating. Let's hope for some DOMS tomorrow.

I'm going to download and synch my new CC workouts to my iPod today and am planning on tackling one of those tomorrow. I'm leaning toward Volume 8!!!

Anyway...time to shower and pack some food and snacks for the day.

Gayle-Have fun at the amusement park today,sounds like fun! I may have to read gone with the wind too,What else are you reading? I just finished 'heart shaped box' and now i may read 'riding lessons by the lady that wrote water for elephants...have your read that?

Belinda-oh,you answered my question from the commit thread,your doing shoulders today! How is the rotation going for you? You seeing good results yet?

My interview went fantastic yesterday,i start the intership in two weeks(the doc and her hubby went on vacation starting today,to the bahamas) so i will start when they get back! There was even talk of a possible job oppotunity after my intership:7:7...thats exactly what i wanted,a job in the doctors office! I will be doing front office type work and will eventually move to the billing/insurance part:7

todays workout is PLB,was gonna do it yesteday but im still sore from PUB on monday,gotta LOVE those pyramids;-) I will also do a thirty minute run interval and a thirty minut dog walk...my doggie is staring at me as i type...waiting,LOL

Gayle: Have a great day with your sons! I am not one for roller coasters but my kids are. :+

Belinda: Too funny that your daughter slept in. That is my daughters excuse most of the time.:) She actually does better in the evening for workouts. Have fun with your workout.

Ameila: I am joining you today with PLB. I too am still having upper body DOMS from PUB!}( Let's see how we feel after PLB!

Good Morning,

First, I want to thank everyone for all your well wishes. Your kind words mean a lot to me. My DH is doing well but my MIL is a basket case. I'm sure this is a normal reaction to all that has happened. She is still in denial over his death. After 10 years of fighting colon cancer and all the complications, she never once ever thought he would die. It's very sad.

Today will be S/H legs and shoulders. I am somewhat following the June rotation. Yesterday was supposed to be IMAX 2 but instead I went for a long walk with my neighbor instead and then rode bikes with my DD last night.

Gayle - Have fun at the amusement park. My kids are dying to go to Six Flags. Too hot for me.

Sherry - I think it is great that your DH works out with you. My sons (18, 16) did GS chest and tris last night. It's funny, because they think they are so strong and Cathe workouts are for "girls". They were singing a different tune last night. My 16 yo secretly told me he had to lower the weights to 5 lbs for kickbacks. Hopefully my DH will show some interest once STS is released.

HI Belinda - I have lost track of you. Are you still in the states or have you gone back to Germany?

Amelia - Congrats on your new job!

Hello Carolyn,

So sorry to hear about your MIL. This will be very difficult for months to follow. My MIL is still very emotional about her DH's passing from well over 30 years! After her DH died her hair turned gray at around 38 as well. The best advise I can give you is to try to keep her busy doing something or visiting with other people. This really helps because she will be able to talk through her pain.

Your walk and bike ride was well worth missing IMAX 2. You were able to spend time with your friend and family.:)

Sounds like everyone one is doing well! I can’t do personals again today (my mind is kind of foggy, lol).

This Poison Ivy sucks! Ugh, I’m taking Benedryl to try to stop the itching (which is driving me absolutely bonkers!) It’s making me really drowsy and lethargic which isn’t so great….but it’s better than scratching my skin off. DH is renting the loader again tomorrow and our son-in-law is coming over to help him. I told him I don’t think I’m up to another round of poison ivy so I’m sitting this one out…..I’ve gotten a bit “gun shy” about going back there in the brush again!

This morning I did the standing med ball segment of Core Blast + Leaner Legs + Cathe’s Bootcamp upper/lower body premix + did a 2+ mile interval run (using CCV2 Rev.). I’m loosely following the recommendations of the Warp Speed Fat Loss program. I’ve taken what I like about the program (intervals, aerobic weight training, and heavy lifting for major muscle groups) but decided to do it with DVDs instead. I can’t do the low carb nutrition aspect of it because of my 50k training though. If you Google it you’ll get a description of the Warp Speed Fatloss program.

Sorry gotta run again, I’ve had meetings the last couple of days!

Back from my sweaty workout. Boy are my legs shaking!!! I did all of the PLB and cheat at all.}( I think I will be adding the lower half to my upper DOMS tomorrow.

Kathy: Aghh!!! :-( I agree with you on that poison ivy!!! I make my DH handle it because I just can't get near the stuff. I use Tecnu which is a poison ivy/oak wash to get off the oils. Then between benedryl spray and meds it helps get me through the break out. Another cream I use is Cortaid Max Strength Anti-itch and works pretty well. I feel for you!!!

Your new workout program sounds interesting. I will have to check it out later. Great job on your workout this morning even with the aggravation of the poison ivy. I get so grumpy when I get it because it is just unbearable. Get well soon! If you have to go back into the brush...long sleeves,gloves and a pre-exposure lotion is in order.

Heidi-You beat me with PLB,i didn't do all of it...i kinda,sorta stopped after the squats and went for my run interval:-( i did go heavier....does that count for anything?;-)

Some part of the workout is better than nothing. Plus, you did add in that run interval. Which one did you try out today?

I am just back from a 4mi bike ride with my DS. This is around my neighborhood and has LOTS OF BIG HILLS! I stayed seated through all of them and now my legs are really fried! Ohhhh I will be feeling this tomorrow! }(

Going to have some lemonade that my son is making. Have a great afternoon!

Kind of a late check-in for me today. I did PLB - so glad to see I wasn't the only one! Always nice to know we were all sweating together. :)

Off to eat some protein pudding - yum!
