Good Morning everybody!!! Today....let's all RE-FOCUS and set our sites on TODAY's objective! Cardio? Weights? Clean eats? Water? Pick your poison and LET'S DO IT!!!!!

We did Applebee's last night for DS's BDay dinner. I did well, until dessert! LOL For dinner I had the steak and shrimp skewers, rice and steamed veggies. ALL YUMMY! Jacob then got the apple crisp with ice cream and I just could NOT resist, and I didn't! lol I ate what he didn't, which was about HALF the serving. It tasted SOOOOOOOO good, but I felt really badly afterward...for about 2 minutes! LOL It was his BDay and I wouldn't be human if I didn't slip up here and there, right? SOOOOOOOOOO....onto today!

I was up early (after a late LATE night with BF) and did my HIIT on the treadmill. I HIT A GOAL that I set at the beginning of this challenge. I hit 2.51 miles in the 20 minutes of this cardio session! I was slowly working my way up to that distance, and I HIT IT TODAY!!!!!!!!!!! I was SO pumped up! I then did abs and Stretch Max. Time to set the NEXT distance goal! YEAH!

OK....I have to get the boys ready for the busstop. I'll BBL to chat some more!

Ladies......KEEP UP THE AWESOME HARD WORK!!

Gayle

Good Morning Everyone,

Hi Gayle: Congrats on making your goal of 2.5mi at 20min! Now as for that apple dessert....:9 it must have gave you a sugar boost to get that speed up there. In the track races they usually use honey shots or one of those Gu products. But I wouldn't worry about it because you probably burned it all off anyway. :)

Todays Goal: Get in my cardio. Haven't decided what type yet. Do abs and stretch. Need a really good upper body stretch after 2 days of upper body weight work. I went up in the weights so I am definetly feeling it today. It isn't over done which is a good thing because I have painting and staining to do today in the back entrance way to my deck.

Time to get son off to school...BBL

Have a great day! :D

Good morning Gayle and Heidi!

Gayle, a half of apple crisp is nothing!! You've already burned it off Awesome job on the running time! You inspire (and challenge) me. I've been approaching it the same way, meaning setting time goals for myself, but I can't go that fast. It takes me 25 minutes to do that same distance. I do include a five minute warm up in that 25 minutes.

Heidi, sounds like your upper body is in for some work with that painting and staining ahead of you. I suspect that after all that and having increased your weights, it's going to be screaming at you later. ;-) (Not a bad thing.)

As for me, I like the recommitment theme we've got going on today. As Tony would say, "Do your best and forget the rest", right? So I've already accomplished one mini goal for the day, and that was getting my LBWO in before work this morning. It's done and I can run all my errands after work today, guilt free. Another goal for me today will be to go easy on the coffee and up my water intake. I've been getting in 60 oz. regularly, but I'd like to go higher than that. I need to, considering the amount of coffee I drink.

Okay, time to work. I'll BBL ~

Jennifer

Good morning ladies! I hope everyone is doing well! This morning I did my cardio workout and did a Tae Bo cardio workout...I haven't done one of those in a while. Tomorrow is Muscle Max! I can feel buff already ;-)

Have a fantastic day everyone, I'm off to write up my prelab. It's a long day at school for me, so I'm glad I got in my workout now :)

Good afternoon, ladies!

Just a general question for you all:

Out of curiosity, are any of you keeping track of calories at all? Like, even a rough estimate? If so, how many do you figure you're getting in a day?

Thanks,
Jen

Hi

Back from work, picking up my son and shopping for some more painting supplies.

I got in my workout this morning. LIS, abs from C&W. I used 2 risers for the cardio workout. That raised the anti a bit...ha ha ;-) saying that sounds funny..oh well. Sweated like crazy so must have been a pretty good workout.

Jill & Jen: Good for you for getting in your workout. I bet you both feel better for it.

Jill: How many hours do you spend in your labs? My daughter is in a lab for 7 hours today! Every tues. it is Orgo lab. Wipes her out because there are no chairs to sit and take a breather.

Jenn: That is a very good question about the calorie counting. If I counted all my calories for today it would be approx. 1170. This includes all meals breakfast,3 snacks, lunch and dinner. Oh, and of course my 3 cups of coffee. I tend to drink mostly water and I don't drink juice or soda.
I do sort of know automatically without even looking what something is going to have for calories. This of course is after years of checking labels and ingredients for recipes.
Now that I am looking at my total for today I guess it is not that bad and I could probably use a few more protein, and calcium products in my diet. I do try to eat mainly vegtables and whole fruits maybe this is why the calorie count is on the low side.

What is on your plate today?

BBL..have to run to get my daughter at the train.

:)

Heidi, I'm in general second semester college chemistry so I spend about 3 hours in lab once a week. Today it went the entire time but it was interesting. But it just wipes me out, too...I'm just pooped by the time I get home.

And holy cow, I'm sore from Sunday's workout! I was thinking of doing a little yoga this evening but I seriously don't want to do anything but lay on the couch :)

No, I don't count my calories because it makes me become obsessive about it. Heidi, aren't you hungry after only eating 1170 calories? I eat a minimum of 1600 calories a day (every once in a while I'll track to make sure I'm where I should be) or I would starve. I'm 5'3" and weigh 120.

Hi Jill,

I really don't feel hungry at all most of the time. I guess maybe because I space all my meals out. I feel that I am active enough and eat enough to compensate for the output.
I feel stong and have plenty of energy so I guess everyone is different as to what they need.
For you and my daughter I have the same response...see below.

My daughter and I were just discussing this and she eats about the same as me. I thought maybe she should be eating a little more because she is in college all day and running around from train to subway. My DH has always said that your brain uses alot of energy more so than your muscles and basic bodily needs. So this is why you or my daughter may need more calories during this time than someone like me. I work and take care of the household but I am not studying and trying to learn something as difficult as Chem or Orgo Chem.

I am a person that listens to my body and if I am craving something it probably means that I need something that is in it. Does that make sense to you?
I am about 5'6 and weigh right now at 138. So I am at my healthy weight and I don't have problems with high cholesterol or high blood pressure. My doctor says that I am in perfect condition. So I guess I must be doing something right for me.

One thing we all have to remember is that everyone is different. So one eating style or exercise style might be right for you but not for someone else. Trial and error to find what works for each of us.

Take care,

Heidi, please don't think that I was criticizing how much you eat! I know we're all different...and it is so important that you listen to your body. That's interesting about the brain using more energy...I never would have thought that. I do know that when I eat healthier, I do eat less calories than when I eat crap, even though I am still plenty satisfied.

Speaking of eating crap, tonight DH got us dinner from Carl's Jr. I don't even remember the last time I ate food from there and now I know why...it was so salty and high in fat that after eating I could almost feel my arteries hardening. So I brewed myself a cup of Eater's Digest tea from Traditional Medicinals and I am feeling so much better. The way I see it, it was not a bad thing that I ate it. Sometimes I need reminders as to why I don't eat certain types of food anymore.

Hi Jill,

What is Carl's Jr? Fried foods or like McD's? We don't have one out here.
Eaters Digest? Never heard of that one either. Do you find this at a health food store? I would be interested in checking this out if it calms your stomach after eating fried foods.
I don't eat fried foods anymore because of the same reasons. I feel terrible after and my stomach hurts all night.

All of my explanations about my eating is in general. (Others may look at this for information) So don't worry that I might have thought you were being critical. :+

Has anyone tried the recipe for Creamy Pumpkin Soup in the Tosca Reno cookbook? I made this today but it is no-wheres near thick like what is shown in the picture. It called for 4Cups chicken broth or veg.broth and only 1Cup of pumpkin. I think this recipe is not correct. Any suggestions?

Thanks...BBL :)
