BFL - Sunday 9/30

Morning girls! What are everyone's plans for the day? I think I'm going to do some grocery shopping to make sure I have all that I need for BFL for the week, and...I hate to say this...take measurements and pictures ;( I've decided that I'll have my SO take the pictures, but I'm refusing to look at them until the next set. I don't think I'll take the next set at four weeks either. I'm going to wait until six. I'm afraid that if I take them too soon and don't see the changes I'm hoping for I'll get discouraged.

How about everyone else?

Enjoy your Sunday, all :)

Good morning! Well, today is a hugely busy day for me! I did have DH take pictures of me at the beginning of Sept but it wasn't a fabulous month for me for workouts or eating so I KNOW there are no changes for the better in that workout. Last night I wrote down two goals that I have for this twelve week period and in a few minutes I am going to take my measurements. This week I am going to try to get an appt to get my body fat % taken at our local rec center...I've used mybodycomp.com in the past but I don't really know how accurate it is. I also got brand new stickers for my calendar for the month of October. I put a sticker on each day that I work out and that is motivating for me. I like the colorful, sparkly stickers :)

Tomorrow morning after I have worked out I will be sure to post my goals and my beginning measurements. Sooo excited!

GOOD MORNING!!!! :)

As I am typing this I am shoving a donut in my mouth...I know not good, but oooo- so yummy :9 One thing I refuse to give up is my Morning coffee from Wawa! I might put too much creamer in, but it never hindered my progress before, so I'm not going to worry about it too much!

I did take a few pics last night...Boy, did I let myself go :( I tend to gain all my weight in my lower belly, hips, & thighs. Does that make me a Pear Shape? I am going to take measurements here soon!
I'm not sure if I want to post my pictures on Tracker or not, I should because it is great motivation.

Take Care, BBL ~

Hi all!

I am seriously considering trying this until I get the new dvds. I have a treadmill for the HIIT. I was also thinking of doing the Imax premix with the intervals only for a 3rd day of HIIT. And I have the Pyramids (which I love).

Do you think this is worth it to just do for just 4 or so weeks?

TIA~
Deanie

Great! Thanks:)
I am going to start this next monday, I still have one more week of circuit city rotation:) I'll start checking in when I start.

Hello ladies!!! I have a great day of grocery shopping for BFL and correcting papers...oh what fun! Seriously though, I am looking forward to shopping so I can pic out my meals for the week.

Speaking of meals, can I have the pdf file of the snacks? My email is [email protected].

About only doing the program for 4 weeks...I did this last year for about 6 and saw some nice changes, so yes I do think 4 weeks you will see some progress. Maybe you will even enjoy it enough to stick it out for the full 12.

My goals for this 12 weeks are not really to lose weight but rather:
1. Slim down my hips where I seem to gain
2. Increase my strength and definition of the upper body

I will post my measurements later. Enjoy the rest of the weekend ladies, I'm off to eat lunch and watch football!

I would love to join in on this challenge. I've had the book for years, but have never followed it consistently. I work out consistently (Cathe, weights, running addict!, spinning classes, treadmill and bike!), but my diet is soo shameful. I'm in my mid-40s and I'm noticing unbelievable changes in my body and think that I really need to do something that will shake things up.

Can I join in too???

My plan for the workouts are as follows: cardio/running outside, treadmill (I have an interval workout that I printed out on the Cathe website a year or so ago that I love and it's a great workout) or bike. For the bike I'll try the 20 minute workout in the BFL book.

For weights the only Cathe video I have for weight lifting is MIS which is a killer. I thought I would do it every other day. Or for the experts out there, should I break it up with upper body one day, and then lower body the next? It sounds like a lot of you are using the PUB/PLB videos and alternating those on the weight days. Maybe I should consider buying those vides....just a thought!

I'm off to the grocery store now. Will check in later.

Hi to Jen,Jill,Jennifer,Deanie,Erin and all that follow,

I woke at around 4:30am! I tried to stay in bed but ended up getting up aound 5:15am. I had a cup of joe and checked my emails. Ooops, I forgot it was race day already! I signed up for a 10K but I will not be attempting this right now. I can't breath! Still having trouble with the sinuses. I thought by now the medicine should be kicking in. The only thing this medicine has done for me it seems is to make me dizzy.

I went down to the race registration to see some friends and help out if I could around 7am. I just got back from breakfast with my DH and friend. I am feeling a little spacey from getting up so early. Guess I will head out for a walk with my son and my friend. Other than that it is business as usual around the house. I will start the workout schedule like everyone else on Monday.

My goals: Tone up and lose at least 5-8lbs. Why 5-8? Because this is what I gained during the house construction. (I would have said 15 but that is pushing it!) I haven't been able to get back to my former weight of 132. I am a little over 5.5 and medium build. With all the contractors coming and going I didn't have the time or privacy to workout. During that time I did get in some runs and walks but no weights. It has been a year and a half since then and still have that to lose. x(

I hope everyone enjoys their rest day. Look forward to the Check-in with you all tomorrow.

Gayle: How did your paint job go?

Jill: Good luck with your Chem Test! I will be thinking of you next week. My daughter just had her first tests last week. She also has a friend leaving for Iraq today.
May your brother stay safe and my daughters friend.

Sincerely,
Heidi

Hello everyone,

I am wondering if anyone will be using the BFL system as far as the reps or will it be strictly using Cathe's PUB/PLB as is? Plus, for the cardio part, how exactly will y'all be using IMAX2 or any other of Cathe's workouts?

I am actually getting nervous now about doing this because of the accountability and I don't want to give up when I get tired of doing this. That is usually my problem. I would love to finish the program and see the results.By the way, when is the twelve weeks up? I guess I can look it up myself.

Is everyone starting with upper body tomorrow?

Rise and Shine!

Yep, starting with upper body. I took my measurements this morning and I felt like I was run over with a steamroller. I was shocked at how much I've changed just over the summer!! I was actually a Tae Bo instructor for a year and stopped teaching at the end of April. Then I had a major burnout and didn't exercise for about a month and a half and it has been touch and go since then. And although I thought my eating wasn't too bad (even though I knew it wasn't where I'd like it to be), I thought I was doing okay. I put my measurements into mybodycomp.com this morning and was stunned. I still look good in my clothes but I saw that even though I haven't gained any weight, I've gained A LOT of fat this summer. I went up about 3% of bodyfat over the last couple of months. Even if the site isn't completely accurate, I am using the same method of measuring so I can still compare monthly results.

I will be sure to post my measurements and bf% tomorrow after my workout but I just wanted to let you all know how thankful I am that this challenge was started! I seriously needed something like this to kick my booty in gear!

Ummm...Jen? Your stats are where I want to GET TO...are you sure you need this challenge? :p

Now I'm intimidated. Anyone mind if I just keep my measurements to myself for a little while? :7

Hey girls!!

I am late getting to this, but i want to join too! I have to do SOMETHING! I have dropped 45lbs since November, but still have 30 to go.

I will start with upper body tomorrow like you all. I do not have the book yet, so could someone fill me in for the next 2 days? I think tomorrow is ONLY upperbody right??

Jessica

If you go to Ask Cathe and scroll down, you will see a Body for Life Challenge thread...as you scroll down through there, you will find some good info about it. And I think if you go to the original Body for Life Challenge thread on this forum (challenges) you will find good info as well.

Tomorrow will be upper body, so we'll be using PUB. The following day is supposed to be 20 minutes of HIIT. I may use an IMAX or LowMax premix.

I would recommend getting the book from your library...it's a quick read with lots of good information. I have his Eating for Life book (borrowed BFL from the library) but lent it to a friend...it has some great recipes in there that are really easy.

I have the cookbook, just not the actual book:) I might get to the library tomorrow...but they close so early. It's easier to just buy the book.
