BFL - Saturday 9/29

Good morning. How is everybody today???

OK....last night I spent a bit of time printing off progress sheets and a grocery list. I also did some thinking and have decided to start an OFFICIAL BFL challenge this Monday, the 1st of October. I changed this for a few reasons. First, I want to officially fill out the challenge forms, pictures and all. Second, I do best when working with a fresh Monday thru Friday schedule. Third, there are a few of you who are also starting Monday. Fourth, I BLEW IT LAST NIGHT! lol

My kid and I stayed out WAY too late, didn't get home till after 1:30am! LOL My 'date' (I'm trying to get used to the word BOYFRIEND) and I fell asleep on the couch while the kids (all 5 of them) play Wii...how can you fall asleep with 5 kids (4 of them boys) playing Wii bowling, baseball and boxing??? lol But before we fell asleep I gave into a Klondike bar, a slice of pepperoni and sausage pizza, and some chocloale chip cookies. Yummy, but YUCK all at the same time! lol

ANYWAY...I'm NOT going to just blow the weekend away. But I AM going to start Day 1 on Monday!

Gayle

Good morning, Gayle!

Don't worry about last night. A girl has got to have fun! Just consider it your last hurrah. I did the same thing last weekend, in fact. I had every intention to start BFL on Sunday, and then I went and ate everything in sight! I figure I still started the program, I just started with my free day, that's all. :+

Anyway, the rest of my week went VERY well. I ate cleanly and got all my workouts in, including this morning's cardio, and I hate to jinx myself, but I dare say I've lost a pound this week. Woo hoo!!

Jennifer, I checked out that site you posted yesterday, and the pictures of everyone's progress on that site are soooo motivating. I've bookmarked the page for when I'm thinking I can't do this.

If anyone is interested, quite a while ago I downloaded a couple files off a girl's website that she had posted for free of 200-300 calorie meals. The file is 60+ pages long of recipes this girl had put together while she was doing BFL. I don't remember who she was or what her website was called, or else I'd credit her. But they're in .pdf form, and if anyone thinks it might be helpul to them I'll be happy to email them off. Admittedly, I haven't tried any of them yet, so I can't say how good they are, but there must be a couple good ones among the many. Might be worth a look, just let me know.

Anyway, hope everyone is having a good day. I'm off to enjoy the beautiful weather.

Jennifer

Uh-oh girls...I think I posted in the wrong place, the BFL check-in. Alright, I've done challenges on other boards but never Cathe. So give me the guidelines here. Do we have a new check-in date everyday that I look for? Or is it going to be one thread that we use for the 12 weeks? Or do we do it weekly. I just don't want to screw anything up here, help a girl out!

Hi Jennifer and Gayle,

Good to see your up and ready for the day!

Jennifer, I would love to have the recipes for I have a hard time getting things together for dinners. I have 4 kids and am always on the go. Having something ready for me would be a great help. Oh, and having 3 boys (or boys in general) does not lend to good eating habits as we all know. Email: [email protected]

Is the Myoplex or AdvantEdge expensive? What about the calories per bar or drink? I am not sure whether I can fit this part of the diet into my budget. I might have to sub my own home made shakes instead.

I do have BBC but I don't use it much (my son uses it more than I do and he is 12!). The counts are all off and as far as the cardio goes I just haven't had that much time to try it out seriously. Maybe now is the time...

Gayle, as far as last night...that was then and this is a new day. ;)
Thanks for the input about the monitor. I thought that maybe if I used the monitor for Cathe's cardio workouts it would give me an idea as to whether it meets the required heart rate zones.

Jen, I have the Slow & Heavy series and was thinking of putting this into the routine as well. Maybe alternating with the UB/LB pyramid dvd. Might save us all on the bordom factor.

Good Morning to Jill, Erin and Teddygirl in advance! Oh no I missed one: Hi to Veronika as well and all thous that follow.

I am going to go do a treadmill run. Yesterday was a recovery day and only managed Basic Step and an ab workout. Later I went for a trail hike which took over an hour. I am still having trouble with this headcold. My doctor put me on an antibiotic for 5 days for the sinus infection. Hopefully I will be feeling great by Monday.

Have a great day everyone!:)
Heidi

Hi Erin,

It looks like to me everyday will be dated for the new check-ins. This seems to be the way all the other posters handle the updates. It makes sense so we don't have to scroll down hundreds of messages to find the latest info. Subscribing to the subject for the current day makes it easier to know if something new came in. Later you can unsubscribe and go on to the next days check-in.

I just posted a note after you to say Good Morning to you. What is your schedule today?

I hope you have a great day and this info. has helped.
Heidi ;-)

Heidi-Thank you very much for the info. It seems that every site does things a bit differently, but this makes the most sense. Today is actually my rest day and I'm thinking I might take it easy tomorrow to prep for the next 12 weeks. Sinus infections stink. I seem to get one every fall and spring. I know how it can zap your energy but if you just get in some very light stuff and stick with the antibiotics you should be up and running in a day or two. Hope you are feeling better soon!

About the bars, they are pretty tasty and I loved them for a quick and easy thing to pack while at work. If I remember correctly, they are between 180 and 220 calories but taste like a chocolate candy bar. They are very low in sugar and have around 30 grams of protein in them. It was great because it took no planning at all and they really did curb my appetite for a while and I get pretty hungry while at work. It doesn't hurt that they almost taste like a candy bar AND are healthy!

Good morning to all you other ladies...I posted a message on the thread from yesterday before I know this was the new hang out...so check it out if you would like.

Good Morning Everyone~ :)
I slept in the morning, and it felt so good!

BF is out doing side work today, so you would think I would push play and get a good step workout in, but where is the energy? I did take the dogs for a walk, does this count...LOL :)

Gayle~ Don't beat yourself up for last night. Start fresh on Monday w/ all of us. This seems like a great crowd, we are so likely to succeed!

Jennifer ~ I would love for you to send me the PDF file. I need all the help I can get. I think when I stopped BFL last time was b/c I was so tired of eating the same things over, and over again!
My email is [email protected]

Heidi~ I picked up the EAS-100% Whey Protein @ Walmart. It's pretty cheap, about $10-$13 dollars for a big jug (2-lbs). I have Vanilla & Choc (choc of course if my fave). They have some good Protein Shake recipes on BFL.com. Break-down of the Vanialla - 23 G Protein, 2 G Carbs, 120 Cal (per scoop), 1 G of sugar.

BBL ~ Off to clean up the house!

Hi Jennifer and Erin,

Erin: Thank you for the get well:) The bars sound yummie:9 I am starving right now!

Jennifer: I am going to the BFL site and look for the shake recipes because like I said I am starving and could use something other than donuts and fried eggs. Luckily I have some protein powder in vanilla, choc and strawberry. Thanks for the Walmart suggestion for I have paid more than 10 dollars at my local grocery store.

I am looking forward to the PDF file for the recipes too.

Thank you all,
Heidi

Heidi and Jennfer, the emails are on their way.

I also bought the EAS Whey protein. I think it's better than buying the premade shakes as far as taste goes, because I like to mix it with skim milk and ice in the blender for a thick shake, or sometimes I'll throw in a Dannon Light 'n' fit yogurt, and they're usually nice and frosty, and pretty tasty. The nutrition stats are good, so I'll stick with that one.

Hey guys! Just a quickie post for me. I'm in the middle of tearing apart my front living room so I can paint it. Just wanted to say HI to everybody!

Jennifer-my email is [email protected]. I'd LOVE a copy of that PDF file! Thanks for sharing!

The bars are indeed yummy! They are convenient and fulfill the needs as called for!

I'm soooooo excited to start this 84-day challenge on Monday. I'm doing it all out. I'm completing the Challenge paperwork and taking before photos tomorrow night. I'm IN IT TO MY EYE BALLS! lol

Gayle

Hi Jen,

Thank you so much for the recipes!:9 This will be a great help to get me organized and plan a week in advance. I try to get my cooking in on the weekends and freeze the meals for a quick grab later on.

My pick-up shake was: 1 med Banana,1 scoop choc. whey powder,6oz. 1%milk, 6oz. water, 1tsp. instant coffee and 6 ice cubes. I feel the energy flowing! :) Now to that run!

Take Care,
Heidi

Hi everyone! This weekend is an off weekend for me. I have soo much to do! I have a housewarming party to go to this afternoon, DD has a dance class to go to, and tomorrow I am having my older brother and my younger brother and his wife over for a big family dinner. My younger brother just got back from his second tour of duty in Iraq and tomorrow is his first day of leave (he leaves his base at 11pm tonight to come back to Colorado!!). So this weekend is kind of a last hurrah for me. Not only do I have the get togethers, but I have plenty of schoolwork. I am a student and have a chemistry exam this week!

I haven't eaten well the last two days and I am SO READY for this BFL challenge!! I'll take all my measurements tomorrow morning and I can't wait to hear about everyone's progress!!

Jennifer, if you could email me that info as well, that would be fantastic!! My email is: [email protected]. Thanks!!
