BFL for Thu Mar 20th 2008

I’m baaack, lol! I typed something up and then DH called and wanted to meet for lunch. Of course he’s already enroute so I had to SCRAM to get there on time. We went to Salad Works and I had the Newport salad (which has tuna, shrimp, egg, tomatoes, and olives). YUMMY!

Belinda – Oh man, chocolate cake! I don’t think I could give that away either, lol! I can’t believe how expensive the iTrain’s are now! I’m glad I have the monthly plan because there’s no way I could afford them! The selection this month in iTreads was disappointing, I hope she has better ones planned next month.

Heidi – What a great workout you had! Yeah, the 2 and 3 jumps are too much for me so I keep them about what you did and it’s still a nice sweaty workout!

Melissa – I thought about you this morning but didn’t pull out my high step. I was afraid of getting stuck on it with a 100+ lb. barbell on my shoulders and not being able to get up. I’d be like that commercial “I fell and can’t get up” but I would be “I’m stuck and I can’t get back up”, lol. Great job on your workout! Oh, I’m going to do another round right away (starting on Monday 3/24). I don’t want to lose momentum.

Amelia – Super workout on the treadmill. You’re doing great! I laughed when I read your pants story yesterday too, I’ve done that with my daughter’s pants before but the got stuck at my hips, lol.

Stephanie – Marathon training is going VERY well….knock on wood! I have 3 more really long runs the next 3.5 weeks then I’m in taper mode. I’m starting to get excited! When is your 10k race? Are you following any special plan? Great job on your run today!

Kathy

Hi Heidi - yes, my pc is fixed! YAY!! Have you ever freezed the applesauce banana bread from Tosca's book? I have a feeling mine won't last that long, especially since I woke up thinking about it this morning, but was just wondering.

Kathy - LOL! That bar would get really heavy really fast! Thankfully DH & DD were downstairs with me last night. Otherwise, I would have been sitting there for a little too long!

So I ordered a set of platemates from fwonline last week. They came yesterday and just out of curiousity I weighed them. They should have been 1 1/4 lb each, but they are only 1 lb each. And I don't know why I only ordered one set when I really need two sets...two dumbells...duh! I guess I wasn't thinking!!

Hi,

Kathy: Boy is my DH in for a great workout when he gets home! He just emailed me to remind me not to make it longer than 30min! HA!

Melissa: I haven't froze that bread yet but I am sure that you can. A great way to freeze quick slices to go would be to pack them in sandwich bags pre-sliced. By the time lunch of snack rolls around they are ready to eat. (I hope or you could microwave them ;-) )

I have pace weights which are .5#'s each. I have a set of 18 in a carry along case. They work pretty well and makes weight increases easier to handle increments rather than jumping up 2-5#'s at a time!

Hey...are any of you in the flood zone? I am thinking of Gayle...I hope she is ok! Maybe your out for a long run Gayle :) Take Care.

Time to get DS ready for work. Food...etc. BBL Heidi

Melissa – Oh, man now you got me wondering what my Platemates weigh….. Now I’m going to go home and weigh them, lol! They really are handy though, especially for upper body exercises that you can’t make big weight jumps in!

Heidi – LOL, he’ll be glad it was only 30 minutes long…ha,ha! Which Runervals did you borrow? Did you get the Iron Girl DVD? Man, I want that one BAD! I may have to sell some DVDs to get it.

Kathy

Kathy - go home and weigh them! I once weighed my 10 lb neoprene db's to find that they only weigh 9.25 lbs. Now I tend to weigh everything!

This is the first set that I have so I was all excited when I got home last night. I'm stuck between 15 and 20 lbs for biceps so these should work perfectly. I do need another set though. I just hope they weigh 1 lb each!

Kathy, I'm not really following any plan to prepare for the 10k, which is April 12th, but I was going to ask you what your thoughts were...

Hi Kathy,

I have the 1st,5th and I think the 6th one at home. But I didn't see that she had the iron girl one. Is that a cross training with weights DVD?

Gotta run again. Time to pick up DS from school.

Melissa: I can forget about getting up to 15-20#'s on biceps! The highest I can go right now is 12! :) My right bi just gives out too fast.

Hey guys. I am here. Sorry! But I need YOUR SUPPORT!

First,

Amelia-your post on the Open Forum motivated me to come clean to you guys right now! So thanks for being open and honest in that post.

I'm floundering and EATING! For the last 3 hours or so, I've limited myself to JUST WATER to detox. It started with Tuesday's Free Day. All went well, heck...it was FREE DAY! But then Wednesday started fine with my P90X workout, but by the time lunch rolled around, I just began eating again. All day, for the REST of the day. Then today, I wake up, with all the best intentions in the world, only to just sit and eat a plate full of homemande French Toast with s/f syrup. And then lunch wasn't all that good, when I ate some of DS' 'corkscrew and cheese', with cookies as a side dish. My jeans are tight and I'm all fluffy! I haven't stepped on the scale, simply because I KNOW how my body IMMEDIATELY packs on the weight from bloating and water retention. I can easily gain 10 pounds in a matter of a few days. (fortunately, though, it does come off quickly too, but that initial number freaks me out, lol).

ANYWAY......I was pondering WHAT is effecting me, and it's nothing. Quite literally, NOTHING! We've got the entire week off, and NO PLANS! NOTHING on the calendar. I guess I should be glad things are calm right now, but I'm very good at multi-tasking and I guess I THRIVE on it too!

SO.........I don't mean to be a downer. But I didn't want to stay in hiding anymore either!

I was just over at the BFL Tracker site and I've paid up my fee for the current 26 week Spring 2008 Challenge. My official begin date for that is Monday (I wanted to wait till the last possible moment to get in on that challenge and the deadline to pay is tomorrow.) That has raised my spirits some. I think I need to open the windows, or step outside, DO SOMETHING to beat these doldrums!!! Ho HUM! (lol)

Thanks for listening!

OH....and on a GOOD NOTE....I've got some awesome DOMS in my core, shoulders and upper back from my P90X workout yesterday!

Gayle

Melissa – Yeah, I hear you! I actually weighed my Olympic bar because the box said it weighs 45 lbs. but it was only 35 lbs! If you get another pair and they weigh 1.25 lbs. just put one of them and one of the 1 lb. weights on each dumbbell….to balance them out, lol!

Stephanie – It sounds like you’re doing well with your running already. My only suggestion would be to try to make it to at least 5 miles (if not the full 6 miles) by race day. That way you go in with in with the confidence that you’ve already “done” this before. ;)

Gayle! I’m so glad you checked in today. I think the mindless noshing is the easiest to do. I hope you don’t mind me suggesting that maybe you should re-think free day. I can’t do one because it’s too hard to get back on track mentally and physically. Instead I do a free meal and tell myself I can have anything I want but that’s it after that, no more goodies. It works better for me than eating whatever all day then trying to “start all over” again the next day. So are you restarting your challenge on Monday? We can start #2 together again.

Kathy

Hi, Kathy! My official start date for the Contest is Monday. I was going to use my CURRENT progress log, which started at the end of February, but my mind NEEDS everything to be in sync! LOL Does that make sense? I paid today, so to keep my MIND in key with everything else, my start date has to be around that do too! lol Wierd, I know, but that's how my mind works. SO YES is the short answer! LOL

And thanks, I AM going to change up the way I handle free day. I moved it to a week day, and although that worked for a while, still having an entire DAY seems to be working against me. So I am going to change that, as you suggested.

Gayle

Well, I'm home from my tennis match. I took 3 hours but we finally won in 3 sets. It was a very competitive match. \

I think I may have injured myself. I stretched really good before hand because I was sporting some major DOMS from my leg workout on Tuesday. Toward the end of the 1st set I was noticing my right hip flexor was sore. By the middle of the 2nd set I was limping after running for a ball. When we were finally finished, I could feel my muscle shaking really bad and it hurt like hell"o" to walk. I immediately took some advil or whatever it was. Now I can't lift my leg without a sharp, shooting pain in that area. This really bites because I'm supposed to preplay our spring break match in the morning.
I have been icing and stretching it. Anyone have any suggestion on how to make it feel better, and fast!!

Carolyn

Gayle** I only eat one cheat meal on my free day! I think it works better for me too! I don't trust myself with all day eating! LOL!

Belinda

Oh, Carolyn. BE CAREFUL! Take it easy the rest of the day and wait to see how it feels tomorrow. Ice it, too. Take ibuprofen for any swelling that may occur. Tomorrow morning, you will need to make a game-day decision, girl! BE CAREFUL!!! PLEASE!

Gayle

Carolyn-Yes,be careful! I do hope you feel better tommorrow!

Heidi,Stephanie--yay,we got through it together:) I too could here you guys yelling at me to not stop until I reach that 3mile target;-) Thanks:)

tommorrow is GS back, biceps and shoulders! I may even squeeze in a little cardio since I will be out of town all weekend!

hey to everybody:) just popping in for a bit!

Great Gayle! It sounds like you’re getting in a good mental place again. It’s tough but we gotta just keep pushing on right? Hey, we need our fearless leader. ;)

Carolyn – OH NO! Definitely ice and rest it for the rest of the evening. It sounds like a hip flexor sprain (but I’m no doctor). Take something for the inflammation and see how you feel in the morning. Hopefully it was just a fluke and you’re all better tomorrow. I’m so sorry! :(

Amelia – Great job on the 3 miles! Yay! :)

Okay, I gotta get off and go home. I’ve been on here an awful long time today, lol. Talk to you all tomorrow.

Kathy

Gayle, glad you made it here today! It's good you are noticing your eating/pigging out! ;) This past week I've noticed several people here are having a "down" week (stress, boredom, tiredness) It may be the weather changing and/or holiday coming up. What with the kids out of school, planning a meal or trip, guests coming in from out of town for the holiday, it's all change and gets you out of your routine. I bet next week is a lot better for all of us! I am extremely tired from my run (4 miles without stopping!) and feel my allergies are getting ready to slam into my sinuses! But you know what, it's all good. Tomorrow is another day...if I'm sore or tired or sick, well then, Saturday is another day! We just need to regroup and come back with a vengeance!

Amelia, YEAH! 3 Miles! It's great having a cheering section, isn't it!;)

Kathy, I posted above that I ran 4 miles...without stopping (I HAD to add that!):p I feel I will be able to conquer this upcoming race. Thanks for the advice! I will heed anything you say, you marathoner you! :)

Carolyn, congratulations on winning! I'm sorry you are in pain. x( Like they all said above, ice and Advil! Good luck and MAJOR healing vibes to you. I look forward to hearing from you in the morning with good news!
