Good Sunday morning everybody! Is today everybody's Free Day??? I can't believe Week 1 if coming to a close. How are you all feeling??? I'm feeling AWESOME!!!

My goal for today is to not totally stuff my face till I'm sick to my stomach! I really want to eat with complete control again today. I am planning on 6 small meals, and journalling them all. But, those meals will be things that I haven't had all week (like maybe cereal or whole eggs for breakfast, etc). I know we have complete freedom to eat anything and everything, but my biggest fear is that it will start a binge for me that will continue into the week.

What are you doing today?

We've got football, then I'm going shopping at Kohl's (Jennifer, I think you made the right choice, btw) with a 30% off coupon while my mom watches the kids. Then my boyfriend is coming over to help me figure out my living room furniture. He's also bringing a foosball table for the boys!

OK...time to chug a few glasses of water and get this day started!

Good Morning Everyone,

Hi Gayle :) I am feeling pretty good this morning. I had my free day (unplanned) on Friday. So today I have to be good. :( :)
How are your legs after race day?

Not sure what I am doing for today because it is raining here. I had planned to go apple picking with the boys.

What everyone else doing today?

Take Care and have a great day.

:)

Hey, Heidi! Apple picking sounds great! Too bad the weather isn't cooperating!

My legs are fine today. I was a bit tight before bed last night so I just did some athletic stretching for about 5 minutes before snuggling in the blankets. I feel great today!

Happy Free Day! This morning I did have two donuts that I NEVER buy...they were really yummy. And I'm making homemade clam chowder tonight for dinner but other than that I think I'll be eating pretty healthy today.

After church today my afternoon is going to be completely full of school work as I did absolutely none of it yesterday.

Good morining Jill,

Yummy!:) I love clam chowder! Wish I could come to dinner at your house.

OhOH on your homework. Do you have Mon off? I think my daughter is going to be in the same boat. She is away this weekend visiting friends from her former college. I doubt she has even opened her books. She has Monday off and I think this is going to be her catch up day...unless it will end up being her catch up on sleep day.;-)

Gayle: I guess on Mon. you will good to go for the LB workout huh? Unless you are like me and it doesn't kick in until several days later. Hopefully not.

Next race in my area will be on the 14th of Oct. Here is a link to the site for you to check out. My daughters former cross-country coach is heading the group in one of the photos.

I love these trails! This is where my daughter and I do most of our runs together. I will be trying out the race course for my workout on Tues's cardio day. I will see if my daughter would like to join me on race day because this is her birthday as well. The big 21!

Still trying to come up with that alternative plan for the apple farm. Have to wait until all is awake.

Have a great day everyone.

Heidi, I have school, so does my daughter (3rd grade). If I hadn't heard on the news about the Columbus Day protests in Denver, I would have never known that it was Columbus Day weekend.

I found out last night that they will not be able to deliver my elliptical today :-( The guy wants to deliver it sometime this week, and I'm hoping he can do it tomorrow so it's set up in time for my cardio workout on Tuesday. I paid a little extra for them to deliver it and set it up...I figured that if I am already spending that much money, fifty extra bucks would be well worth it to avoid aggravation. I can set up shelves, furniture, etc, but I figure I'll let them set this up because of the electronics and everything.

Hi Jill,

Oh, that's too bad if you do have school on Monday. They don't give that day off? I guess it depends on which state you live in.

I hope they do deliver it on Monday where it is a holiday and all that. If it were me I would call to make sure of a definite day of delivery and set up. It would probably require someone to be home and it sounds like your not going to be there if you are in school.

Good Luck however it turns out.

:7

I think here in CO it's a holiday for banks, etc, but not for most other people...I think garbage is still picked up, too.

As far as the elliptical, I called the store and they are looking to deliver it tomorrow when I'm home from school. I'm waiting to hear back from them to confirm, but thankfully I'm not a full time student. It's a pain that my class is from 1:25-2:15 and I live about 40 minutes away, so it uses up a large chunk of the middle of my day. Since tomorrow is a not-quite-holiday here, they will be open and able to deliver :)

hey beautiful ladies!

Today is an off day, as most of the week was. This was be longer than 12 weeks for me!

Tomorrow I will do...I can't remember...is it lower body or upper body?? I will do one of those:)

This week I mainly eased back into cardio. whew! I was exhausted all week.

I need some advice. My girlfriend and I meet at the gym at 5:15am, or 6:15am(depending if we do a class or just treadmill). I really like the accountability. If I don't show there, she'll literally kick my butt! It's much different then just telling you guys I didn't workout. Your words can't physically hurt me:)

Well, she bailed on me for sat. And has bailed on me for the next 2 saturdays. I really prefer cathe, but like this accountability. So, i'm thinking that to workout with her will cost me $375 in dues. If she bailes on me all the time, I'll be furious. Like I wasted my money. But, I know this could be a great thing with the accountability. I don't know what to do, and I have to decide quickly!

what do you think...Keep going and meeting her on a hope she continues, or do it at home and save myself the money and aggrivation??

jessica

Hi Jessica,

What a bummer she keeps bailing out!:-(
I would try to do your workouts at home and save the money if you haven't already paid! If you have paid..then I would ask around at the gym to see if there are any interested parties for doing this program with. You might be surprised at the response. There are a lot of women out there that would love to have a workout partner.

On the otherhand if you know ahead of time that she can't make it save that workout for a home day...saves gas and time getting to the gym in the first place.

Hey, what kind of cardio workouts are you doing?

Well, I wish you luck in sorting this all out.

Take Care,

Heidi,

I haven't paid yet. I was on a 3 day trial. Then, I learned how much the gym was, but they came down. I am doing the couch to 5k program at the gym. But, at home I do all cathe!
Jessica

Hi again Jessica,

Question: Is the cost for a full year? Also, do you use all the neat equipment they have to offer?
Do you have any equipment at home...treadmill, elliptical, stationary bike and or weight benches?

the price is for a year. I would have to sign a contract. It's 39 a month for the gym, and add 10 if I want spinning. I only will use the treadmill and some classes. But, learning to run is a goal of mine, and its helpful to do with a person. I know myself well enough that if she quits, I won't do it on my own.

I don't own a treadmill at home. Just cathe dvd's. NO weight bench but have dumbells. Also, I will only have time to go in the morning. I have 2 kids (3 and 11 months) that won't go to the gym. They come get me before i'm wamed up. When I say morning, I mean I have to be home by 7am.

sounds to me like you already answered your question. Time to work out and have that time to yourself is important. So go to the gym and workout. I am sure that they have some great trainers to help you on your journey to getting fit. Maybe you too will find yourself in your first 5K! :)

Good luck and we are here to help support you!

I know it is important, which is why my delemma. I know that I won't continue is she quits...and she's already bailed on me in the first week! I just don't know!

Hi Jessica,

I know we are not in your neighborhood to go to the gym with you but we can encourage you. I checked out the Couch to 5K program online at Cool Running.com. Where are you in your program? Have you been able to use the treadmill to get to the point of jogging for 60sec and do 90sec of walking?
You could do your weigts with Cathe in the morning and then do what I did...take the kids out for a stroll/run.

The options I had when trying to get in my walk/runs with young kids was my stroller. I put them in and just went around the block which is 3.5 miles. I would walk as fast as possible or do speed runs. This was pure enjoyment for the kids. They would laugh and giggle as I would say "Here we go!" They really looked forward to getting out of the house for a little fresh air and the wind in their faces. We played games along the way like I Spy etc. which made the time fly by.

I will check in everyday to see how you are doing.

Take Care,

Thank you Heidi! I only got to week 1 day 2. SO, run for 60 and walk for 90. It's been GREAT!

We only have 1 car, so taking the kids to the park for a run will be hard. And, I live on a busy street, so I can't just take them out here. I might post this on the general board and get a consensus there too! Thank you so much for talking! It helps to have someone to chat with who has the same fitness desires.

Jessica, why don't you take the money that you would spend at the gym and look in your paper to see if anyone is selling a treadmill? You could check out craig's list or your newspaper and get a used treadmill. This way you could always get your running in, no matter the time or the weather.

Jessica,

I agree with Jill. If you can and have the room get one that folds up to get it out of the way.

Hey girls! How is everyone today?

It was a workout free day for me, but not a free eating day. I blew that on Friday night.

Heidi, I was in your neck of the woods today. Not having to get a workout in today freed me up to get out early and spend the day roaming Salem. The kids wanted to check it out and get in the Halloween mood, and there's no better place to do it. Despite being away from my prepared foods though, I did okay. A mesclun green salad with chicken for lunch, light on the balsamic vinegar dressing, and an olive bread roll at the Hawthorne Hotel. :9 The shopping was good and the weather improved as the day went on, so we had a lot of fun. I wish we had checked out a few museums, but my daughter was too afraid to go into many of them. Seeing its October, many were running haunted houses and stuff, and when she saw some of the people coming out screaming or crying in fear, that door was slammed shut. No way, no how. Oh well, maybe she'll feel more daring next year. I got her the most adorable witches hat though, and also found her the most appropriate set of horns! :7 I really wanted to buy her the t-shirt "Not all witches live in Salem", }( but couldn't convince her. (I think she started to catch on to my little joke.)

Anyway, ready to take on a new week now. Sooooo happy tomorrow it a holiday.

Jennifer
