BFL for Saturday Fri Feb 08th 2008

My opinion (and I did the 4DS upperbody alot before starting BFL), is that BFL is much more intense. Cathe does two sets of everything and the only bodypart I ever maxed out on was shoulders (which are my weak area anyway). Just my 2 cents. I'm seeing some great progress with BFL weight work and plan on toughing out the entire 12 weeks with it. :)

P.S. I'm slowly trading for the P90X+ workouts. My fitness budget is BUST, lol. Oh, I have a trade in the works for P90X+ Upperbody that I hope goes through. After that, it's only the Total Body that I want (not interested in the Kenpo one). ;)

Sherry, how did PUB go? I did it yesterday..fun fun! Congrats on your meals! What kind of shakes do you use? I just ordered Myoplex Original (didn't see the lite!). I have to order online because we don't have a place that sells it around here. We live 45 minutes from the nearest city.

Gayle, the burger and fries sound yummy! I will treat myself to one maybe the end of next week for my free day! I used the 4DS weight work the whole month of November and really enjoyed it but IMO it wasn't long or tough enough. We were done and I was left saying "is that it?" If you were short on time it's a good workout though.

Michelle, I can relate to the DOMS as I did PUB yesterday as well. I am going to have to try itread circuit ski 27. I get confused too with the whole thing.

I did Maximun Intensity Cardio Hi/Lo and had to stop twice! Has anyone done this w/o and completed it without stopping? If so, you are my hero! I plan on taking tomorrow off and that will complete my 1st week! The scale is the same but I'm not upset. I have worked very hard this week at eating and pushing myself with my workouts so I know I am getting healthier. I have been very tired this week though. Around 6pm I am ready for bed. I end up staying up until 8:45-9pm. Could this be from the change I am putting my body through? I have plenty of energy during the day...

Not much planned for me this weekend. Housework today then Sunday school and church tomorrow. My MIL makes lunch each Sunday. She grew up on fat back and frying everything! YUCK! Some of her food is good but mostly greasy. For instance, she puts 1/2 cup of butter in the corn and boils the heck out of it. Then she stands in the kitchen as you are fixing your plate and makes sure you get enough to eat! "Is That ALL you're having?" I don't want Sunday to be my free day either. :( Not sure yet how I will tackle this issue tomorrow. I certainly don't want to upset her!

Hey ladies, thanks for the input on the 4DS upper body stuff. My initial reaction when I previewed it was the same thing. I think I may just pass on that idea!

Stephanie-I haven't done MIC in AGES! OHHHHHHHHHHHHH! Maybe I'll plug that one in tomorrow morning. That's a great workout! Maybe I'll post on the open forum and see if anybody else is interested in plugging it in with me tomorrow! Great job in it, by the way. It's a TOUGHIE! Your body will adjust to all these changes. I promise. JUST KEEP WITH IT! And, just ignore DMIL! That's my best advice on THAT subject! HA!

Speaking of MIL, mine called Thursday night. See if I can keep this short. I got a call a few weeks back from an attorney's office asking me to get in touch with MIL so I can pass a message along to her, that some legal action has been taken against her and that the sooner she contacts them, the sooner she can rectify the situation. No biggie...I passed the message along over the phone to her, didn't ask ANY questions, and minded my own business. She calls me this past Thursday night asking if I'd told a specific person (that we both know and she works with) about the 'credit card problem' she's having. HA! How do ya like that? We've MAYBE seen this woman 15 times in the past 3 years since DH (also her son) passed away. I didn't even KNOW the attorney call concerned credit cards. And then she hasthe nerve to ask if I told someone about it? Yeah, right, lady. I blankly and FIRMLY told her I did not mention it to anybody, that I didn't really CARE what the issue was and that I didn't even KNOW it was a credit card issue. HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM. Dear woman, get a LIFE...cuz I got MINE back!

Gayle, dealing with MIL's is a very touchy thing! Just hold your head high and move on. She obviously has problems and is trying to blame someone so she doesn't have to blame herself.

We are going to Cataloochee Ski Resort. It's not the biggest in NC by far but it is a close drive, 2-1/2 hours from our house. We have been going there for the past 5 years and there is always a large group from our neighborhood that goes. If nothing else it will be nice to get away.
 
Carolyn-I'm curious what the weather is like there. My sis lives in Wake Forrest and last week while she was home here visiting, she left NC when the temps were in the 50s and 60s! LOL

Carolyn, that's funny you mention Cataloochee Ski Resort as the local news did a report from there yesterday!

Gayle, I live in Madison, NC, we are 2 hours west of Wake Forest, and the temps were in the upper 60's this past week! Right now it is 54. We have had unusually warm temps this winter. Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining! :7
 
Hi girls,

I am not working out tomorrow! I will take a rest day/free day tomorrow! I am going to the cemetery for my moms 71 b-day! My sisters/ BIL + my DH and I will go afterwards to a Greek restaurant! I will eat all that good food! Thank goodness they serve half portions! LOL! I will have calamari, Greek salad and garlic bread! YUMMY! Or should I get a fish platter? My mouth is already watering!:9 :p :*

Carolyn** that was my first time doing the double cardio! Lot of fun! I hope you had fun with GS Chest and Triceps! I have DOMS in my chest!

Melissa** you have to try the double cardio! I had a blast! I am going through all my DVD’s before the STS came out! I do enjoy the premixes a lot lately! Happy birthday to your DD! I am glad you enjoy new squat rack/weight bench!

Back from DD's "Chic Party"!! It was alot of fun. Nine 8-year old girls in a very small room at the same time...YIKES! Thankfully it was only while they ate pizza!

Kathy - I did squats, which I was dying to see how heavy I could go. I did BFL-style and I really could have gone heavier. At the end of the workout, I tacked on 24 reps of 88lbs just to get a good burn. I also did leg extensions and leg curls. The leg curls, I maxxed out. But the leg extensions, I definetly could have gone heavier. I ended up tacking on 24 reps of 50lb. I think it was 24, I did them until I couldn't do another. I pretty much just played around. I love being able to load the bar at my height instead of down on the floor. It makes a huge difference.

Gayle - I'd be up for Cardio Fusion, RS or SB tomorrow. I don't have any iTreads or anything like that. I also don't have MIC, which I think you mentioned earlier. Doesn't matter what we do, as long as we do it, right?!?!

Everyone else, I hope you are having a GREAT day! Oh, and I didn't eat cake today. I brought the leftovers home, but the kid at the place butchered it when he cut it up and it wasn't all that appealing looking!! I'm grateful for that!!
 
I should be saying "HELP! I HAVE A THOUSAND BOXES OF GIRL SCOUT COOKIES IN MY HOUSE!" but I've had 2 servings of protein pancakes along with the earlier shake today and am feeling rather full.

I was so focused during PUB that's it's a good thing that Cedie was counting or no telling how many reps I would have done. Honestly, if any of you were at the gym with me, I wouldn’t have noticed you. Felt really strong. Will definitely be heavying up next time.

Today I am feeling skinny and don’t dare step on the scale or use the tape measure, for fear of what they’ll say. I’ll just gloat over my workout and my skinny feeling!

So far today, I’ve worked out, took the dog to the vet, picked up the cookies for GS’s (the whole troop’s, just to clarify above), ran the kids to the library, and done some housecleaning. It’s time for some downtime here at the computer.

Belinda – Have some baklava for me, please! I just love that stuff!

Carolyn – I know how when those colds keep hanging around, you lose energy. That’s what happened to me earlier this week. Just couldn’t get enough sleep. Glad it’s gone for both of us. Sounds like you are getting to go skiing!

Melissa – Yeah for the new squat rack! Hope DD’s party is fun (and not too tiring).

Gayle – Glad you are still enjoying your birthday! I actually made very good progress when I was exclusively using 4DS – that’s when I lost the first 5 pounds. Be sure to heavy up for results, but I probably don’t need to tell you that. I do think I’m building more muscle with PUB, which might be why the weight hasn’t changed all that much. As for the ML rant, don’t even worry about it, if you’ll listen to mine sometime.

Michelle – How hi did you go up in weights? I think you and I are usually about the same. As for the mornings, getting sick really wiped all of us out this week. We were all sleeping much more than normal. But by yesterday, I think we’re back on track. Oh, and I usually don’t even mention the abs, ‘cause those are done at night before bed, when I remember.

Kathy – I love your 45 year old goals! Glad you appreciated my musings yesterday. I find your level and intensity of workouts inspiring. I plan to be right there with you in the not so distant future (so I can reach those goals!). However, I really need to get over my treadmill aversion, which is why I don’t have one yet. I was actually thinking that this summer maybe I could inspire DH to do P90X with me. I still haven’t decided about STS, and don’t know if I could get him to do that.

Stephanie – I’m using Myoplex original – but using half a packet for each shake (similar nutrients to the lite version but costs less overall then). You might need more rest if you are working out more. Also, be sure that you are eating enough.


Cardio tomorrow (because I’m catching up for the week) – anyone else want to try Belinda’s recommendation on the 4DS double cardio premix? Gayle or Melissa? I could also join in on Cardio Fusion, if that’s the choice.

I got out my bfl book and also perused the past bfl check-ins and have realized, I think, I am not eating enough. For instance today so far I have had the following:

#1 - Coffee with light soy milk, 1 protein pancake, water

#2 - Protein Shake with water

#3 - Banana, string cheese, 1/2 slice whole wheat bread with natural
peanut butter, water

#4 - This meal will be pork tenderloin roast with new potatoes,
carrots and onions, water

#5 - Protein shake or an apple and water

#6 - ran out of time!

What do you think? Am I on target or should I be eating more?

Hey guys. Just a quickie post. SO just picked up my boys. Turns out his ex offered to have my kids stay overnight there, so guess WHAT!!! We'll be alone tonight! No rushing around, no worrying about a babysitter! ALONE, I SAY!!!! WOO HOO!!!!!!!!! He'll be back in about 15 minutes to pick me up so I better go get changed! OH!!!! What to do with NO KIDS and NO CURFEW! lol

Better scoot! Can ya tell I'm excited!

OH! And my plan for tomorrow sometimes is to do Cardio Fusion! I'll be thinking of each of you as I party with Cathe and Crew!

Sherry - I had to laugh when I saw your post about the GS cookies. Ours come in the last week of February, so I'll be thinking of you when I have 1452 boxes of cookies in my house!!

Stephanie - Hi! I took a look at your meals. They look good, but I would try making one of them more substantial. Try it for a week and see what happens.
