GOod morning. I'm up and ready to head out the door for today's 5K. I've decided to go all out and do HIIT during the 5K. This ought to be interesting, hugh? lol I'll let you know how I make out, when I get back!

Gayle, good luck on your 5K!!

This morning I am going to do yesterday's workout, which is PUB. I'm taking DD out to get a halloween costume and while we're out I'll be shopping for a new elliptical as well. If I get one, I'll do that tonight or perhaps Low Impact Step, which is today's workout.

And we might get our first snow of the season tomorrow! The snowline is supposed to drop down to about 6000ft and I'm at 5000ft so we'll get a rain/snow mix. I wore summer capris and a tank top yesterday and tomorrow I'll be wearing winter clothes. I love Colorado! :)

Jill~ Wow, Snow...How great! My BF would love to move to Colorado. I am ready for some snow .. did I just say that? LOL

My knee is still sore. So maybe I will get to the gym today and do the elliptical! I haven't been to the gym in months, it will be good to get back in there. I will probably do BBC Chest/Abs DVD. I previewed this one last night, seems good, but don't really care for all the push-ups he throws in there.

Oh, I decided against taking the p/t job for now. I was speaking w/ a co-worker and he said just "cut" what you can't have right now.
Even though I love my Dish Network, Internet, etc. I am sure there are ways to make are bill lower.

Gayle, good luck on your race. Let us know how it goes. I've got to do the same thing next Saturday.

Jill, I can't believe you're going to get snow already! I love the first snowfall, but I'm willing to wait for it until Christmas. Usually once it's here, it's hear to stay for a while.

Jennifer, be careful with that knee. You gotta love the elliptical for heart-pounding low impact though. I'm always amazed at what I great workout I get on the elliptical. Oh, and I hate push-ups. I've never been able to get really good at them. I bought P90X and got really discouraged by the number of pushups in the workout so I never finished my rotation. I have to find a way to improve on them.

Well, I ended up having my free meal for the week last night. I didn't really mean to, but I was ravenous ALL DAY yesterday. I did really well until I got home last night, and I warmed up a fattening beef pot pie for the kids and ended up eating some of that. I just couldn't help it! Then I made this no-cook applesauce from Tosca Reno's new cookbook, which was great, and made even better by the homemade whipped cream I put on it. :+ (How's that for clean eating??) Oh well, it's allowed, right? Now I just have to behave for another week.

PLB is on tap for today. I do love that workout. Then, a day of housecleaning. Blech.

Glad to hear it, Jennifer. I think you made the right decision. Sanity and health are sooooo much more important than anything material. ;-)

Sorry I did not check in after my workout yesterday.I did do PUB. I am still sore today but not as bad. Today I'll do IMAX and abs.

Gayle, enjoy the race. Will you do the HIIT at the beginning of the race,at the middle or at the end of it?

Jill, I live in Texas and we go to Colorado during the summer.At the end of this month will be celebrating 13 years of marriage and I've asked DH if we can go to a cabin in Coloado. I want it to be cold and hopefully snowing at the time. I miss the snow. We don't get very much here.

Jennifer, what is BBC?

Oh my gosh, Did you say PLB for today? I am going to have to mentally prepare myself the next time I do it (Monday). That is the reason my hamstrings and glutes are so sore.

We did some housecleaning last night but I still have the bathrooms for today. I'll be thinking of you while I'm cleaning.

OK I'm going to drink this coffee and do my workout.Week 1 will be done in about an hour for me.

Gayle: Good luck on your 5K! Have a great time too! What are they doing after the race? A lunch or dinner? For the 10K here last Sunday they had a big breakfast feast. It was a great time for all.

Today's workout: Treadmill HIIT
Speed 3.4 - 4min
3.8 "
4.4 "
5.5 "
6.5 5min
7.5 10min
8.0 5min
Back to 3.8/incline to 10% 10min (higher if you have inclines to 15%)
Down to 6% @ 4.8 for 5min (or 9 if at highest level)
Down to 1% Then 4 intervals of speeds of 8.0 @ 1min and 6.0 @ .30Seconds

Finish with:
6.0 - 2min
3.8 - 3
3.4 - 3
3.0 - 4min
Major muscle stretch after and ABS.

Veronika: Enjoy your IMAX and Abs. I know...housecleaning is a drag. But laugh and enjoy anyway.

Jill: Snow already. I just love the first snow of the season. I usually end up running in it on trails. I is just such an awesome sight to behold. Good luck hunting for your new elliptical.

Jennifer: I like the BBC Chest and Abs workout so enjoy. Things will find a way of working out ok.

Jennifer: I ended up with my free meal last night as well. I had spent an hour making this great salmon dinner and then my husband came home to announce that he wanted to take me out to dinner. His friend from work told him of a new restaurant that served the best baby-back ribs around. Of course this is not on my diet list! We ended up ordering different appetizers and trading off. I had 1 rib of the 1/2 rack and brought the rest home for my boys. I also had 1 piece of the coconut chicken and a whole wheat roll. My friend joined us and did the same. There was plenty left over for my boys to get a real meal out of it.

Well I am off to close the pool now. Everyone have a great day!

Hey guys! Read all your posts, but only have time to quickly post my 5K results. I started off running with my partner for the first 5 mins. He runs slower than I do, but I figured I'd use it as a warm up. Then I went ahead and put on the HIIT BFL music to start the 20 minutes of HIIT! BUT.........I was running faster than the starting beat of the music! LOL So I turned it off, listened to the radio, and just ran the 5K. Worked out really well, too, because there were some hills and I just used those as my interval and really pumped it up the hills. I came in at 27:40 and placed first in my age bracket! YEAH! Got a medal and a jug of Goji Juice. lol Worth it for the entry fee.

OK...back from baseball and need to clean up in a bad way. BBL

Gayle, congratulations! That is a great job on the 5k! Something I've always wanted to do is to participate in the Bolder Boulder. People come from all over the world to participate in this 10k. But I can't run because it kills my knees. One year I'll enter as a walker, I guess...I'll just have to recruit someone to walk with me and keep me company :)

Jennifer, I hope your knee feels better soon!

Veronika, where do you want to go for your anniversary? This past August was my 11th anniversary and DH & I spent the weekend up in Glenwood Springs. We stayed at the Hot Springs Lodge and it was so much fun! We spent a lot of time in their hot springs pool (it's HUGE) and went to the caverns as well. Is there a town in the mountains that you prefer? I live close to Rocky Mountain National Park and this fall I'm leading a hiking group through my church. Once a month we're going hiking somewhere and the first hike is next Saturday...I'm really hoping that the trail we're going on isn't covered by snow! It's my favorite spot in the entire park, I think :)

Oh, and I am now the proud owner of a new elliptical machine! They had one made by the same company as my other one (which my parents have) but it's a newer model. They'll be delivering it and putting it together tomorrow afternoon...I can't wait!

I did get in PUB today (don't remember if I posted that earlier) and so my upper body has been feeling rather powerful today :)

What was the name of the 5K and where did you race?
Oh, is the BFL HIIT music your mix or is this something on the market?

I just got cleaned up from working all day in the yard. I also got the pool cleaned and closed for the winter. I hate having to close up the pool because it is a reminder that winter is near.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy the rest of your evening.
