BFL check-in

Unfortunately I didn't get started today. Hubby and I didn't get home til after midnight last night and I was just too tired to get up. I am surprised I am up and at work. Hoping to get on track tomorrow. Depending on how I feel, I will go home and sleep or do a workout.

Hope everyone is doing well with the program.

Hi Rhonda!

Don't feel bad! I may not get started tonight either. :( I still have some yardwork left to do - lots of raking - but IF I manage to get done I will do what I have the strength for. :) Maybe some cardio to round out the day, since I'll be feeling as though I'm in a fat burning mode! :D

What tapes will you be using or do you plan to make your own chart, use the BFL Journal? I haven't quite decided whether or not to use the Pyramids or just do my own thing for a while. So tonight may be cardio while I make my decision. ;)

Any one else joining us? :)

Have a great day!

HI, Are you guys just getting started with BFL or have you already started. I'm actually starting today and would like to check in with ya'll if don't mind. I'm actually fixing to do my first workout this afternoon. I normally workout in the mornings, but had a funeral to attend this morning. I'm going to use Cathe's Pyramid DVD for my weight lifting, but I'm debating on using the workout as they are or making them fit into the BFL format which I think would be very easy. BFL likes for you to take a break, if I remember correctly, between sets. So I was thinking of doing this. Biceps, for example, I could to the hammer curls and then rest while Cathe does traditional curls. Since BFL goes down to 6 and then straight back to 12 reps, I can do only 6 when Cathe does the second 10 and then I'll be back on track with 12 and then also do the traditional curls for 12 reps.

Did all that make sense? Anyway, let me know what ya'll are doing. I'm really bad about not sticking with rotations or diets, but I'm going to do my best to stick with this.

Talk to ya'll later. Kelley

I'd love a check-in. I'm feeling particularly uninspired and unmotivated today but I'm not sure why. eating has been 100% today YIPPEE...even the veggies :)

I overslept so am planning my workout tonight while I cook some chicken for the week. I'm doing Cathe's pyramid series for my workouts for the next few weeks. I'm not really in a "12 week challenge" per so but am trying to get back into a BFL lifestyle. I've been back on the wagon for about 14 weeks or so I think.

Hi Ladies!

Well, I went ahead and started last night. I was feeling so energetic after raking and bagging grass, that I put in CTX All Step while I was in the mood! But it didn't stop there! I ended up doing the step portion, shoulders and abs! I was sweating up a storm and loving it!

Maybe I should lay the weed guard in the shrubbery bed and cover it with mulch tonight and then go inside and workout. Seems to motivate me more! ;-) :p

Not sure what to do tonight though! I would love to finish doing upper body work but it has been a while since I've done my legs and I really need to work out this lower body work with my runs. For the most part my cardio will be running - short runs on Thursdays, roughly 3 miles, long runs on Sundays, 5+. I definitely don't want to do any weight training the day before a long run, especially once I hit the 8 mile mark!

Kelley - I think I got the gist of what you're saying about the pyramid work. Do the first exercise BFL style and skip the second one, because she does combo moves right? It's hard for me to stay on track like that. I guess I can't concentrate enough, block her out, you know. I think I'm going to do videos one week and my own plan the next. We'll see! I think the planned start date was set for 7-14. So we're really all starting together today.

Colleen - I'm not doing anything officially but I like the BFL method. It's very easy, very doable. I just have to work on increasing the calories. That's my biggest problem. I have a hard time calculating those calories too. I've tried Fitday and other methods but some foods that I eat just aren't there or they may be listed but not in the fashion that I cook it. So my counts are always low because I can never find the correct match.

Hmmmm, guess I could start cutting the food labels from the packaging, use a regular notebook to journal and then one Saturday when not much is going on, enter all the items in the Fitday customize section. Worth a shot, right?

Let me know! I''l check in later to see what everyone's doing!

Wow Angie, talk about motivation! I was lazy last night. By the time I got home from my appt., went shopping and cooked for the week it was 9 so I skipped my UBWO :(

I don't count calories at all anymore. Just go by palm/fist. It was a hard switch for me to let go of, but life is much easier this way!!

So far eats and water have been 100% but exercise has not been great!! Hopefully I'll get my cardio in before my dog class tonight or it will be a late one. I am not going to skip two days!

I did Pyramid Upper Body yesterday and I ended up using the workout as is. I had been doing Firms almost exclusively for the past 6 months and I can definitely tell. I could not believe it, but I actually had to rest during the chest work and also on the back work. I have lost a lot of strength. Today my biceps and chest are really hurting. This morning I did All Step. It was definitely hard, but I made it through the entire workout.

My eating was not the best as I had pizza last night and a small slice of cake. Before that I was doing so good. Today I'm having PMS cravings, but so far so good. I do believe I'm going to give in and have a small bag of popcorn and a soda though. I find if I don't give in and have a little, I tend to overdo it later.

See ya'll tomorrow.

Hi Colleen!

I really need to do better measuring. I've been wanting to get one of those food scales - just need to run into GNC to pick one up. I am so bad about a palm sized portion of anything. I think I imagine my hand to be bigger than what it really is and go a wee bit overboard, always saying I'll burn it off later with some cardio, which never comes! x(

Kelley!

I still haven't decided on which workout to do - upper or lower. Maybe I should get lower out of the way. I think I'm going to pull out my BFL Book and Journal - start recording the weights I use, focus on getting stronger and leaner!

Let's go for it!

Well, I've figured out I'm either sick or have allergies, which is why I've had absolutely no energy! I haven't worked out since Friday...wahhhhhhh Oh well, my eating has been 100% and my alcohol has been 0% :)

Colleen

Colleen - 0% alcohol! :) That's funny! Hope you feel better soon though, those allergies can ruin your exercise plans, I know!

Well, I've been busy I must say! I finished upper body the other day, tackled Pyramid Lower Body just this morning. Granted I only did half but I plan to do the stability ball and glute raises this evening and cardio.

Last night it was more yard work for me so I decided against weight training with plans to do MIS legs today. I woke up somewhat refreshed and put in PLB instead. After this evenings workout I will be on track with the schedule.

Have a great day!

Hi Everyone! :)

Just pulling us back to the top. :) I suppose next week we will start a new thread.

Anyway, just wanted to check in with my latest workouts. I have to know that I must be accountable or my workouts will suffer. Like last night, usually a rest day, I finally got around to PUB! It was 10 p.m. But I made it. Then I got up this morning to meet a friend for a 6 mile run. It was great! Didn't think I would make the last mile because I could see the start/finish line. But I talked myself into and I made it! :7 Now I actually can't wait to run it again. I'm really anticipating the day we run the whole course - 4 miles out, 4 back.

Not sure if I should work lower body tomorrow. Guess I'll see how my legs feel. They were still sore this morning - just the hamstrings - but it didn't effect my running one bit. I think I give up sooner when my quads are sore.

Have a great weekened! I'll check in again on Monday! :)
