Howdy everyone,

I wanted to get this party started, so here I am! I am so psyched to get officially going - I tried to take my pics the other day (by myself using the self-timer on the camera) -too funny. Imagine me in my living room, pressing the button then running away while facing away from the camera to get the back shot...FLASH - go check, and it's half of me. I just couldn't get into the right spot. I may have to break down and get one of my girlfriends from church to do it. (Let me just say that if one of my two best friends lived within an hour's ride, I would have them do it. But they are both 500 miles away. This "local friend" hasn't known me THAT LONG!) Oh well, I digress...

I think I will be able to do well this week. My DH is working out of town, so when the baby is asleep I'll be able to just concentrate on my stuff. When I get done here, I'm going to plan my meals for this week and see about my workouts. I'm hoping to get in some Pilates (am/pm stuff) this week as well. I'll check back in tomorrow morning to let you know specifics and to see if anyone's jumped on here.

I hope everyone is staying motivated and feeling proud of themselves!
Keep going, you look marvelous!!!!

Hi Tricia and all BFLers,

I'm checking in here too. I'm starting my 4th week of EFL. While I've been doing Cathe right along, I haven't really been concentrating on exercising the BFL way. I'm doing that now. Today was Legs and Glutes and tomorrow will be IMAX2 (at LEAST intervals 1-5).

Tricia, sounds like you're planning ahead for yourself which is so important. It also sounds like you've got a great week cut out for yourself!

I hope there's a good support group here on this thread because I could surely use it to keep focused. Let's all try and be in this together and support one another!

Just think about how GREAT we're going to look and feel after 12 weeks of this!

Good morning ladies!

Everyone sounds like they are doing great! Keep up the great work!! The eating seems to be getting easier for me.

This is the beginning of the 4th week for me on EFL/BFL, I did not count the first week of April since I did so horribly. This morning I got on the scale and was very disappointed and upset since it registered that I had gained my previous loss of 2 pounds back. Not sure if I was more mad at the scale or myself. I'm going to ask my DH to hide the scale from me. I'm afraid to measure myself since my clothes are fitting the same as when I first started this. I'm not giving up though, just discouraged since summer is fast approaching and I've nothing to show for it. My game plan is to try to eliminate my daily soft drink, so hard for me to do, and really focus on my workouts. This past Friday was great workout wise. I did PUB & PLB up and I was so sore on Saturday and Sunday that I could barely move. I like it when I feel like I got a good workout. I think I might need to add a little more cardio on my weight days. My tentative plan, depending on how tired I am by the end of the day when I workout, is to add a 30 minute CTX cardio to my lower and upper body workouts and still keep my interval workouts on the other days. I'll see how this goes and adjust accordingly.

Have a great day!

Hello everyone!
I had a bad weekend, I went to a wedding on Friday night, a communion/birthday party on sat and a family pizza night on sunday! Where did that discipline go? I think I slack because if I get on the scale and it reads that I lost a few pounds, I give myself a pre-mature pat on the back and eat whatever I want. So, I'm going to make a mental note to really concentrate on having ONE cheat day, not 3 mini cheat days.

OK - this is such a stupid question, but what does DH stand for? I know it's husband, but what are the initials? Moving on..

I made some meals from the Eating for Life book - they are all so good. Does anyone else follow the recipes? If so, do the mid day meals have to be from the mid day meal section or could you have 2 meals from one category (example - I made the tuna sandwich and had one for snack and one for lunch) Is that too much for a snack? Looking at some of the other mid day snacks, they seem smaller, like yogurt and cottage cheese or an apple and cheese.

Last but not least - I have NOT taken photos! Do you think I want ANYONE seeing me like this? I don't even want my husband (who sees it all), to look, only because I think he'll notice something that I've been trying to hide. ha! I ordered the accu measure today online - I couldn't find any store that carried them. So, I will need to break down and get the picture taken, but I'm not liking it!

have a wonderful day everyone!

Hi everyone- just checking in. I'm just begining BFL again. I started in March, did great then fell off for April so now I'm back again in May. I'm going to use my Cathe tapes for the worjkouts, found I got too bored just lifting at home alone and I really enjoy the intense cardio days so I'm hoping this will work.

Has anyone had success with BFL and doing Cathe workouts?

Have a great day!!
Jean

Hi GeminaGirl!

You are too funny about your hubby taking your photos. My DH (dear husband) took mine, but I am ashamed to even look at them let alone let him see them. I see quite a bit of room for improvement.

My weekend was similar to yours. All we can do is pick ourselves back up and start again. In the long run our results will shine through even if we cheat a little here and there. It will take just a little longer to get the results we are looking for.

Any of the meals/recipes can be eaten at any meal. That is one great thing about this program. You can have a "dessert" if you wanted for every meal because it follows the guideliines of a portion of protein and carb at each meal. I keep meaning to try some of those dessert recipes as well as some of the others. Hopefully I will be able to squeeze some of them in next week.

Have a great day! See ya.

Hi Kristi-
Thanks for the response on the menus - I'm glad that's how it works, because I had one of the deserts for breakfast on sunday. It was the berry crepes - I LOVED it!! I equate crepes to breakfast, so I thought it would be ok! It was so good, and I used chocolate protein powder, since that's all we had in the house.

I found this website http://www.skwigg.com/wow/index.html it's funny and informative (on women's fitness). The woman is part of Body for Life Women's Club and gives great info and more links. I love the internet - how does anyone get work done? : )

Hi everybody,

I'm doing okay with the diet and great with the exercise. Yesterday, I made the turkey meatloaf out of the EFL cookbook and it was delicious. I made it with the red-skinned mashed potatoes and green beans, just like in the book and even my kids liked it.

Today, I started out well - egg beaters and toast, but blew it at lunch with a salad (good) and sticky roll (not so good). I'm on week 4 now and hope to really buckle down and do it right.

Hang in there.

- Shopgirl :)

Hi everybody. I'm glad to see you all here. I did fine yesterday with my food up until about 4pm. I've got dh (dear husband) home ALL WEEK and he is the worst influence on me as far as food goes. But I'm discouraged too because since the beginning of April I saw a 2 pound loss and then gained it right back when I took my "free day" on Sunday. I refuse to give up though. I am sticking this out to the end! It's just so hard to lose one little pound, even with all the Cathe workouts I do.

I know Bill Phillips says you don't have to count calories, but I've been tracking my food on www.fitday.com and, when I do the eating right, like picking the menus in the EFL book, it really comes out on track for me -- around 1400 cal a day and very close to 40/40/20. I used to do Weight Watchers for many years so tracking my food is something that personally really helps me keep my food intake in line with the program.

See you all tomorrow.

Hello Ladies! (And gents if you're lurking and not posting!)

Oh, I had such grand plans for today...alas, it was not meant to be for me today. I decided that I would wait until this evening to workout b/c my DH is out of town and I can never sleep. Working out tends to help me get drowsy, so I saved it. Then my 18 month old went all toddler on me...She was so cute, running around, playing with the dogs and just have a generally good time. She got so wound up, that it took her an extra 45 minutes to wind down - and there went my workout time (POOF!). Children really are magical, aren't they? SO, I won't make that mistake tomorrow. (I may still try the PM Pilates, but I was too wiped out after I got her to bed to do a HIIT or a strength workout!). I'm sure many of you can relate, which is what I love about this Place.

I also had an Aha moment as Oprah would say. I REALLY need to do the journaling, which I haven't done thus far. IF I can go back and see on paper what I wanted to accomplish for that day, what ideas I had for meals - well, it would just be so great. Anyone who is doing the journal have some input about that?

Oh, GeminiGirl - aren't picture awful? They just don't lie. But I really try to look at them as a super motivating tool...I want to remember how bad it got before I did something about it. You know, you never really get a picture taken on just a regular day. Usually, you are at a family function like a wedding or some other special occasion, right? Well, who doesn't try to look their best for these. I feel good about the fact that I took that step (albeit on my own, with crooked results, etc.) so I'll be able to look back and feel a sense of accomplishment - because I am going to succeed!!!
We all are. Every day that we make the effort is a victory, right? Good luck tomorrow everyone. I am planning to do Supersets (I have yet to try this one, and it looks like it might be a good fit.) If I get real ambitious, I'll try to get in my am Pilates also!! Meal-wise, I will have steak and baked potato w/ broccoli for supper, the double chocolate pudding for dessert, 2 midmeals of cottage cheese and apple/ hard boiled eggs and orange. Haven't decided if breakfast is a shake or eggs, but I'm still drinking my coffee. And of course, 64 oz of water minimum.

TTFN,
Tricia

Hi All!

Yesterday I did alright. I had to go to the dentist for 3 cavity fillings so I was not able to get in a meal. However, I was able to get in a 30 minute run with my son and dog last night. Then after I put my son to bed I worked out with Leaner Legs. It really fried my legs and I was only using 5 & 8 lb weights!! I guess the last time I used this tape was about 8 months ago so I wasn't sure what poundage to use. Next time I will probably up it a little, but I got a good burn from the weights I used by focusing entirely on form. Tonight I plan to do CTX Upper body and Imax 2 probably intervals 1-5. I'm trying to add in more cardio to try to blast this fat away.

This morning started out well with string cheese & yogurt for breakfast. I plan to add a little more variety next week after I have had a chance to go grocery shopping. However, my meals are packed in my cooler and ready for work.

Everyone have a great day!

Kristi

Hi everyone,

I did real good eating yesterday (5 meals!) and all my water. I did Imax 2 #1-5 last night. I kinda felt like I was on cruise control until the 4th interval -does this happen to anyone else? I guess because I just don't like lunges off the step, no matter how she changes them to try and keep it interesting. This is why I don't go back to older workouts much also. Those lunges seemed to be "it" for intensity before. Maybe I need to put in some other types of Cardio?

I did Supersets for the first time today, and I felt the same way with that. Part of me thinks it is because I never did it, so I was really trying to see if my form was correct, etc. But when Cathe was saying Woo -Hoo, I wasn't feeling Woo-Hoo! (Except the explosive lunges and concentration curls, which just were excruciating!!). I'm going to do a search to see what others have had to say about this workout in the past.

As for food today, I had my normal 2 cups of coffee, a turkey sandwich with a slice of cheese for lunch, and a serving of Double Chocolate Pudding (From EFL) for a midmeal. I've also had 32 oz. of water so far. So I think I'm doing ok today - but I may end up doing an "easy" cardio tonight, I just don't feel like I worked out. Maybe SS is a workout that catches up with you later! I'll let you know...

Hi everyone!
I hope you all are doing well. I've been doing great the past 2 days and am getting into the groove with how it all fits together. I usually eat 2 hours apart, except between midday snack and dinner, (since my workout is right after work). And today, I went 3 hours between mid day snack and lunch and I had this raging headache - my body was telling me to get some energy in my body! So that was cool-I have a pattern now and like how that feels.

Tricia-I totally agree with you on the lunges. I love Imax2 but it's the first 5 intervals that are not my favorite. I need another cardio as well, but my DH (thank you all for helpin me on what DH means, now I can use it!!) will kill me if I buy another tape. however, he doesn't have to know (ha!). I only have a few pure cardio tapes (Imax 2, and MIC) I think the other ones have weights and cardio, and since I still use tapes and not a DVD, it's hard to use them for cardio because of the fast forwarding to get to the next cardio segment.

I do not like MIC and use it only because I have it. It's an older tape and it shows - so it makes it hard to get into it. So - if I WERE to buy another cardio - which do you recommend?

I don't have the new series (body blast) do you like it??

Hi BFLers,

Let's see. This week I've done L&G, IMAX2, Cardio and Weights. I've done IMAX 2 maybe about 10 times so far, but I reallly, really enjoyed it the other day. Maybe it's because I have FINALLY gotten 99% of the moves down.

I weighed in yesterday and I've lost those 2 silly pounds that I seemed to have gained from my "free day" on Sunday. I hope they are gone for good. Somehow I doubt it because I've been playing with these pounds for months now.

I'm waiting for my new Cathe order. I just ordered Power Hour DVD, Pure Strength DVD and Slow and Heavy DVD. I also ordered 4 from the CTX series that I didn't have. So, now I have all of her workouts minus the older step tapes which I don't think I'll be getting any time soon. I like the more current workouts anyway. I'm also looking forward to that new set I pre-ordered back in Jan.

Gemini, I only taught myself Cathe's step stuff a few months ago. Maybe you're a more experienced stepper than I am. In the BB series, everyone seems to love Step Blast although I find the moves pretty tricky and haven't gotten it down yet. Step Jump and Pump has good cardio in it - but it's got some weight work as well in it, and Kick Punch and Crunch is lots of fun. I have Rhythmic Step which I was also able to pick up on pretty well, and I love that one for cardio too.

To me, no matter what Cathe workout you choose, you can't go wrong. She's just the best.

Great job everyone! It is so terrific that we are doing this together, doing well with the program, and encouraging each other. Who knows, without your support I probably couldn't have made it thus far. I know we all have lapses, but we are all winners!

The past couple of days have been going pretty well. Tuesday I was not able to get in CTX Upper Body and Imax intervals as expected because my SIL called right as I was heading to my workout room. Instead I did the Bootcamp Cardio only premix. It was intense and came out to be about 20 minutes including warm up and cool down.
Last night was a 30 minute run with my son and dog. I don't know who enjoys the run more the dog or my son. They both get so excited when I say the word "walk". You would think I was giving them a popsicle or treat. It is really nice to have the company while I run. Then, after I put the baby down for the night, I did 3 sets of 15 reps for back, chest, shoulders, bis, and tris. DH wanted to spend some quality time together so I could not do an hour long tape.
Tonight is my bunko night out with the ladies so I'm not sure what I will be able to do today. My plan is to do Imax 2, probably only 5 intervals. My DH is so sweet he knows that I really wanted to see the Friends finale so he is going to tape it on our Replay TV. What a gem!

Great news to share - DH wants to start eating better beginning next week. I think we all knows what that means - BFL Baby!! I've made a list of his likes and dislikes so I won't be packing him anything that he won't eat. This is really going to help me stay motivated. If I know that he is doing well then I will feel really guilty about wanting to cheat. BTW, lately I've been doing really well with my eating. I still have a small treat almost daily, but I think that is keeping me sane. I figure as long as I'm keeping it under control then I can live with that even though I know it will take longer to reach my goal. Also, I have lost those 2 pounds that I gained last weekend and feeling pretty good.

I hope everyone has a good day!

Kristi

Edited to add: My small treat is normally a can of coca cola so it is about 140 calories.

Hi guys! Sorry I haven't checked in lately! I am sooooooo busy at home and with the new baby it is just nuts! I read all of your e-mails and am soooo proud of all of you! Keep up the good work! And you are so right that we just have to be patient! Do not give in to an entire bad day just b/c you cheat 1 time.

I started over AGAIN on Sunday. So far this week I have gotten in every workout and ate clean!!!!! Yeah! I didn't get up in time to w/o this morning so I worked out this evening when DH was giving my 2 sons a bath.

I have literally been getting up at 4:45 some days to get my workouts in! It is crazy! However, since I have been good this week I can tell my pants are fitting different in the waist and belly. Even DH noticed! Yeah! I know it makes such a difference when I eat clean AND workout. I keep telling myself I AM GOING to do it this time! No stopping me! Wish me luck!

I highly recommend the fit day software. I downloaded it from www.fitday.com and it is so nice to have it on my computer versus the internet version. It has a diary section which is awesome.

Gettinfit - I am so glad you lost your 2 lbs back! I keep doing the same thing too...lose 2 lbs, gain them back. This week I lost 3 since Saturday!!!!!!!!!!!! We'll see if it comes back after free day ;(

Tomorrow I am going to do a combo cardio and lower body. On fridays I always mix it up a bit. I usually do a total body workout or pick LB or UB and combine with cardio. I take free day on Saturday so I get a day of rest before I have to w/o again.

Does anyone else find Friday night dinner REALLY hard to be good? I hate it!

Kristi - that is so cool your hubby is doing it with you. My hubby is too and I am so happy. It helps so much.

Catch ya' all later! Gotta get some work done.

Hallooo everybody, HAPPY FRIDAY!

I did pretty good yesterday- IMAX2 Blastmania. I was huffing (in a good way, of course) during #9. It was the first time I've finished a workout with my baby girl up from her nap. She got up during interval #4, so I sat her down and said "Okay, Mommy's going to work out with Cathe now". She loves Cathe, and so she watched for a while - then she got up and started dancing around during my intervals! Talk about motivation, she was clapping and saying YEAHY, Thaaatheeee (which is toddler for Cathe, BTW).

As for eating, I'm still not getting enough meals in. But as everyone has said here, it's the journey that counts, right? I've realized that to get a Body for Life, this is something I will have to do - always, period! I'm a work in progress, always under construction. After reading some Fitnut's post about the pants being loose after eating clean, I see that I need to get my meals in for this to work like I want it to.

On a Happy note, DH got home last night from being gone since Sunday.
I can never sleep when he's gone, so I actually got to rest last night. I'm planning to do Pyramid Lower Body today. And yes Fitnut, Friday's are so hard to eat well - it's like you've got to celebrate the fact that the week is over and the week-end is here! How great for you and Kristi that you're able to do this along with your hubbies. I have tried to include mine, but with his hectic schedule, he doesn't even eat with us 90% of the time. (Poor guy is out mowing our grass since 8:00 am, it grew a foot while he was gone.) I would mow it but he likes that chore, some mindless time for him, so I left it go.

OK, enough from me for now! Have a great day,

Tricia

Hello ladies and gents, if there are any out there lurking!

Fitnut, great job sticking with the program and losing the 3 lbs. Tricia, I am right there with you girl, a work in progress. You are right it is about the journey if you want this to be life thing. My hubby is not aware that I am putting him on BFL/EFL meals. Maybe he will start going back to the gym soon. Lately he has been really stressed with work and his other obligations so he keeps putting exercising off. I keep telling him that if he does not make time for himself then no one else will. We all need to take care of ourselves - mentally and physically.

Fridays are not that difficult for me, but Saturdays and Sundays are a completely different story. Hopefully it will be easier now that DH will be eating better with me. Makes it definitely easier to plan ahead. Sunday is my scheduled off day this week, but I plan to stick with my meals and only splurge for dinner, after all it is Mother's Day. I told my hubby I wanted grilled pork tenderloin, a salad, and party potatoes for dinner. (Party potatoes are made with hashbrowns, cheese, sour cream, onions, and cream of chicken soup. I make it with lowfat ingredients so it is not so bad.)

What is everyone else planning for Mother's Day? I really wanted to go clothes shopping, but I am not yet where I want to be so I may buy a couple of skirts and a blouse or two for work to hold me off until I am where I want to be.

Last night I was not able to make it home early enough from bunko to get my workout in, but tonight I plan to make up for it by doing Legs & Glutes and a 30 minute run. I really love it that it has been so beautiful here lately. All the more reason to be out enjoying the weather.

Fitnut, I've heard great things about fitday's software. I normally go to the internet version since I'm on the computer all day here at work, but I'm really tempted to buy the software. What is the difference between the software and the internet version? Also, I presume the software can be installed on more than one computer, i.e. home and work.

Everyone have a great day!!
Kristi
