Hey,
I haven't picked your brain in a while, I've seen those gorgeous pictures and you do look so good. I have 2 questions, ok, maybe 3.
With where you live, how do you get 30 miles in/week in the winter? I am such a wimp, I have been running on pretty days, but nothing consistent. I just don't get out in bad weather. I've been doing some of the high intensity cardio with Cathe. Do you have a place you run inside or on a treadmill?

Next question how do you run, the daylight is still so short right now, by the time I get home at 4:40 pm and change, it's closer to 5:00 pm before I could get started running and I run out of daylight.

Final question, how do you measure your body fat, is it a mathematical equation or do you have it done?

With the results you've gotten, I'm so very motivated and working hard again. I can't wait for spring so I can get back into running more often. I also am hindered a little with my horseback riding. Usually our trainer has my horse out ready to ride when I get home and I ride first, so this does eat up some of the daylight.

Thanks so very much for your help! You are such an inspiration!
I won't be able to read your response until Monday, so thank you very much for your time.

Hi Melissa,

It is nice to hear from you and Thank you for the compliments.

About the running questions. I have a treadmill and it has been used a lot this winter. It is not quite as exciting as running outside, but if I have some good music on or a good television show (fit tv, discovery health) I can go and go. Sometimes I am just in the zone and love running so much I don't have a clue what is going on around me.

It is hard to fit everything in everyday with the short days. Weekends are good for longer runs.

Keep up the good work!! It is the consistency that really pays off even through the ups and downs.

Melissa,

I forgot to answer your question on how I measure my body fat. I have a hand held omron body fat monitor. I do not know how correct it is, but it is consistent and helps me see if I lose or gain body fat. I have had it for about 6 years and it was 150 dollars back then, now you can get them for 60-80 dollars.

When I have my body fat checked at a gym with calipers it is always a percent or two lower than my hand held doozie..

I think I answered all the questions now. If not, just yell...:D

Hey Beverly,
Thanks for your reply, I really appreciate it, I am looking forward to being able to run again on a regular basis! The last time I ran, I noticed I'd lost my endurance a little, so I'm hoping we'll have some pretty days with sunshine for running in the evening!
I truly enjoy running outside. I may check into a body fat caliper, I truly hate weighing myself, it fluctuates so much that I get discouraged, even when I have to talk myself through the facts that weight does this with hormone shifts and muscle is heavier than fat.

Thanks again, your a great friend and inspiration!!
