Hi,
I am new to the Cathe board and have a question about weight loss and toning results.

I have all of Cathe dvd's and all of Jari Love's DVD's.

I need to lose about 60 pounds. I know weight loss is more about diet, but I also want to incorporate weights and cardio into my program. Which do you think would give me the best results.

3 month Jari love rotation followed by 3 1/2 month STS rotation or

6 1/2 month STS rotation

I love Cathe so much more than Jari, but I've heard that endurance weight training is better for weight loss than heavy weights.

Any opinions?

Here's your answer: do it all.

It really doesn't matter what the "experts" say, you have to do a trial and error thing for about 6 months and find out what works for you.

Some people swear by a total weights only program, others by a total cardio routine, for some only heavy weights shift the fat, for others again, it has just got to be endurance lifting, blah, blah, blah.

There is no one formula that fits all.

Cover your bases and aim for health and fitness over all, then see what is working better for you to shift that weight faster and to keep it off.

Start with a program of 3 cardios per week and 2 or 3 weight training sessions. Mix it up: some kickbox, step, maybe running, some steady state cardio, some HIIT interval training to boost the metabolism. In the interests of finding out what works for you, try the STS for 3 months and then the Jari Love for similar time period and then compare: how did you feel while doing the program? how do you feel now? which makes you actually fitter?

It's not all diet. "Diet" is a hateful word, loaded with connotations of restriction and punishment. Eat for nourishment, not for emotional purposes. If you eat to fuel your day and your workouts, excessive snacking becomes a thing of the past. Eat for health and do regular, consistent exercise of varied intensity so you do not burn out or get injured, aim to improve fitness and the weight should take care of itself.

Most of all, have fun and enjoy your workouts because regardless of which program "best promotes fat loss," if you hate the program, you will not do it and fat loss becomes only a theoretical prospect.

I've decided to do a 3 month STS rotation due to the fact that I really enjoy Cathe workouts much more than Jari workouts. I'm hoping since I like the workouts it will keep me motivated to keep pushing through.
