Best oatmeal mix ins!

Ok, I finally found IMO the best stuff to add to your oatmeal. Kashi 7-grain nuggets AND Nature's Path flaxseed granola. I sprinkle a little bit of each ontop of my oatmeal, mix it in, top with a little 1% milk... it is so delicious! I have tried so many things to make my oatmeal more enticing, and this one wins the award. Just make sure you don't add too much of the granola (as it is kinda sweet). BTW, you can get the granola at Cosco.

My favorite is unsweetened applesauce, chopped walnuts and a little cinamon mixed with Splenda.. ( I mix the 2 in a shaker bottle, very little splenda).

I was dropping in dried cranberries, but now can't have them around as it was a handful here and there and here and there. Boy, the calories sure added up before I knew it. They are gone and I'm not going to buy more! Too easy to dip a handful of. But boy, were they yummy in oatmeal.

I'm another one that loves banana's mixed in. Also, frozen cherries. First, I though them a little bit in the micro and then mix them in. They help cool my oatmeal off and sweeten it up a little (I don't like any sugar or other sweetners in my oatmeal).

I'll have to try your idea.

Joanne...that sounds wonderful, I'm going to have to try all these add ins!! We have oatmeal almost every morning around here and need a "change". Thanks

I think nutmeg was invented to go with oatmeal. I just adore the combination.

I just bought some Smart Balance Omega Old-Fashioned Oatmeal. Has anyone tried it? The ingredients are rolled oats, Agragrande barley (whatever that is) and golden flaxseed. Hope it tastes good.

Mmmm, nutmeg. I never thought of that before Nancy! I'm going to try have that with my oatmeal tomorrow morning.

I usually stick with a banana, a little brown sugar and about a tablespoon of walnuts...delish!!:)

Nutmeg is awesome, so is cinnamon! I also put in wheat germ, ground flax seed and bee pollen. Any kind of fruit, berries, bananas, pears, apples, pomegranate, oranges, minneolas (sp?),etc.

Sometimes I substitute milk with Fage Yogurt or kefir, yummmmmhh!!!

My favorite is a scoop of vanilla protein powder, a dash of cinnamon and a touch of brown sugar. Then top it off with blueberries...my favorite!

Canned pumpkin, the spiced kind you use to make a pie. It rocks. I think someone on this board told me about it.

My kids took a cooking class at Williams-Sonoma. Add 1/2to 1/3 cup of oatmeal and one frozen box of spinach to spaghetti sauce. Get both fiber and iron (and veggies to boot). My kids love it! Also you can do this meatloaf and meatballs. YUMMMMY!
