Best DVD following Low Impact Step?

Hi all! I'm just breaking into the Cathe videos after being out of shape for a loooooong time. I've mastered Body Fusion and LIS, and would like to know if anyone has suggestions for a good next step. I don't currently have a high step and don't want to get one quite yet, although I do have the Firm long step that goes up to 14". I prefer mainly step/low impact. Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance,
Shannon

Hi Shannon!

I've been working out with Cathe for 9months since the birth of my son and LOVE her workouts! I also started with BSBF and LIS. I recently purchased Low Max and have found it to be a great "next step". No pun intended:) My next purchases are LIC and BM2.

Good luck;)

My opinion is that these would be your best bets:

Low Impact Circuit - it has a lot of premixes - it will give you total step, or total weight work - or basically any mixes in between. It's a fun workout, too, and fairly easy to learn.

Low Max - this one is good, but the routines are fairly complicated. If you don't mind learning more challenging choreography, this would be a great workout for you.

Have you considered Kick Boxing? Kick Punch and Crunch is a really fun workout, has a lot of fun moves and is not all punching and kicking. It comes with Legs and Glutes which will give you killer legs (and sore ones for the first few tries!)

Cardio & Weights - it's another circuit with options. It's higher impact, but easily modified and it's fun. The weight work is lighter and not as challenging as LIC. It also comes with IMax 2 - which is high impact, but is one of Cathe's best videos. A lot of people modify IMax 2 to suit their needs. If I'm tired and crabby, and don't feel like working out, I pull out IMax 2 and I always feel better when I'm done. Cathe is just her best in this one.

I would stay away from Body Max 2 - it's a FUN workout. Don't get me wrong, but it's NOT low impact and may be a bit much for you right now. Start with the others, and work your way up if you want to.

My favorites are Low Impact Circuit and BodyMax 2 - BM2 as a whole is LONG, but I break down the WO and do whatever segments are appropriate for any day. Haven't used the premixes on that much. I also like Pyramid Upper Body/Pyramid Lower Body for weights - especially PUB :).

Regarding BM2 being not low impact - it is true that they demo everything high impact, but it's really easy to modify for low impact.

Wow!!!

Thanks for all the fast responses. Now I know where to start. Cathe has so many videos, and even with the Ultimate Guide, it can be hard to figure out which workouts require equipment I don't have or which ones are high impact without spending hours and hours reviewing and comparing the descriptions.

I can't wait to get going!

If you check in the dvd rotation forum you will find a beginner's rotation written by Cathe. She suggests "Side Note:
After doing the 3 month break in period, I think all other tapes will be more comfortable for you (however, I suggest Cardio and Weights as the next stepping stone). The workouts that you should hold off on for a good few months are all of the Imax workouts (ie: Interval Max, Imax 1, 2 or 3) and any workouts labled using the words "Extreme or Terminator" in its title."

I can tell you my next purchase was cardio & wts and KPC. In no time I was doing IMAX 2, MM, ME, & LIC. Hope this is helpful.
