best approach?

Hello Cathe,

I am sure you know this by now, but you are THE BEST. The new clips are fresh in style and content and look like they will be tough.

My goal is maintenance of weight and fitness - especially as I grow older. I am 39.

A routine that has worked very well for me is a three day weight training split (full attention to a few body parts) combined with separate short (20 to 40 minutes) and intense interval cardio. I am beginning to find this boring, except on leg day which I love (Legs and Glutes is the best ever leg workout).

Three months ago I started yoga and enjoy it. I enjoy your cardio+weights circuit workouts better than any other form of exercise. I do not have time to add what I love doing (Circuit and Yoga) into my rotation.

What would I be losing (fitness, strength, muscle mass, appearance) if I stopped the old routine and stuck to a Cathe-tough level of circuit training (inclding the new workouts! :D) every alternate day with Vinyasa yoga thrice a week?

Thank you.

Answering my own question

Circuit (Cardio+Full Body) Vs Split Body, is it smart to do only the former? I wanted to know this so badly. For anyone else wondering, this may help.

I look forward so much to circuit training / full body workouts, the thought of entrirely replacing split-rouines seems like giving myself a treat. Some people I asked felt split body is more advanced. Made sense. A split body feels so much more thorough on the body parts focused on.

More boring article, but also helpful:

These compare full body to split body and circuits are not exactly the same thing as the former. It feels good to learn I wont be just indulging myslef at the expense of "reversing" on fitness if I trained only with circuit/FullBody for a few weeks. According to these articles I am gaining in some ways, provided I cycle back to split body after a few weeks.
