Bench

I asked this of Cathe, but would like to ask everyone else as well:
I have been using PS for about two weeks now and I have a question: Is there any problem with using a sofa cushion on the floor instead of a step or bench to do the bench work? Am I missing any benefits or risking any injury? Thanks.

Nancy, if your sofa cushions are anything like mine, nice and soft and lots of give, it's not a good idea. It really won't give a lot of support for your back. When you lift those weights your back may bend right into the cushion. You need strong support for the back, especially the lower back. A sturdy surface like a coffee table would be so much better.

Thanks for the help! Is there any reason why I can't use my carpeted floor? (I'm trying to avoid getting that big club-sized step for lack of space.)

There is no reason you can't use the floor. Your range of motion will be slightly less, but then again, most moves are not supposed to drop below step level anyway. You will not have the advantage of inclines. If I had the choice of a couch or a step in my workout area, I'd choose the STEP! Too bad for company, huh? Tee-Hee! :7 (Also, the step stores very well standing on it's end. Have I convinced you yet????)

Hmmmm??

Tough question! I LOVE all her workouts, literally. There has not been one that is not my fav! (other then Rhythmic Step which I tried one time and put away since I am choreo challenged. I KNOW I need to get it out and not be so scared of it. I am thinking of trying a few minutes at a time in my "spare time. SPARE time, what's THAT?? Just kidding. Let's see, IF I had to decide, I'd say in the cardio department, IMax, 10-10-10, Step 'n' Itervals, CardioKicks, BodyMax & MIC are my VERY fav. I told you I love them all! I guess IMax would be the top pick. In the strength department, I love PowerHour, PS & S&H, with CTX & MIS not too far behind. Sorry, I can't give you a more definite answer in this department, because all the tapes are entirely different types of workouts. I think PowerHour is lots of fun and I LOVE the music. That hour just flies by. I love the variety that Cathe offers. What are your favs? Also, let me know when you get rid of that useless sofa!!! :7 LOL! I couldn't live w/o my step...one of my very best purchases! (That & my barbell!) Have fun!
