Alli,
How are you doing??? I was in the hospital this summer for almost three weeks due to premature rupture of membranes--I went in at 28 weeks and Kyle was born at 31 weeks---anyway, while I was in the hospital, I posted here and you wrote me several notes of encouragement, so now I am writing to you!
Yes, bed rest is very difficult (and extra difficult for you with children!)-- you will get depressed and feel sad from time to time but just remember that your bed rest is not only helping your baby it is helping you, too so that you can be strong and rested for delivery day. I used to talk to Kyle every day about how it important it was for Mommy to rest so that he could grow big and strong and I would tell him that he had to stay inside Mommy just a little longer so he could get big and strong. Sounds corny, but it worked! I really bonded with him while on bed rest....
I instituted a routine for me--I made sure that I took a shower and put clothes on every day (don't know if you are allowed to do this) and that really helped. I reminded myself that this would not last forever that it was just a temporary situation. I ate alot of desserts (maybe not such a good thing, but it did cheer me up!) This will be a challenging time for you, but believe me you will be a better person for it--you will learn things about yourself that you never knew and you will see a side of yourself that is so amazing--it takes a lot of grace, courage, strength, and faith to be on bed rest while you are pregnant. Good luck and take care! I'll be thinking of you.
Kellie
p.s. I used to spend time coming up with these really great rotations that I could do once Kyle was born--I gotta tell you--he is now 7 months old and I have yet to do one of those rotations BUT I have them for when I am ready!!!!
