Bed Bugs!?!?!?

NY25

Has anyone ever had them/experienced them? I'm trying to figure out if I've got them and I'm in a complete state of panic. If I do, they definitely came from the neighbors!! But I'm not sure and I'm freaking out!! I woke up Saturday with a bunch of bites, although I was planting trees on Friday, so I'm not sure which kind of bug bites I may have. I just don't know what to do and I'm totally freaking out!! thanks!

Stayed in a motel once that had them -- they were very easy to see. My niece had a horrible experience with them -- the bites were like spider bites, and got very swollen, and six months later you could still see evidence of the bites on her legs. Good luck -- hope it's just from being outside!

I don't have any experience with bed bugs but when we went to Mexico in February, we brought along a spray just in case.....you never know with hotels:confused: We didn't need to use it so I can't vouch for it's effectiveness but it is called Rest Easy. It claims to kill and repel bed bugs without harmful chemicals using environmentally friendly essential oils. I picked it up at Bed, Bath & Beyond.

My husband works for a very nice 4 star hotel, . . and they've had them there. It doesn't really matter where you stay, . . they hitch a ride on luggage and are very common in Europe. Even hotels that charge $1,000.00 a night have them. You just have to check the folds of the mattress to find them.

If you can see them they've matured. They can multiply like crazy. I think I read somewhere where the babies can have babies so all you need is a mating pair and then they are all over the place. The younger bugs are so small and almost translucent that they are hard to see. They look like large fleas. Call an exterminator ASAP. You may even have to get rid of your mattress if the infestation is to big. They sell bed bug covers for your mattress that you can buy that prevents them from going inside the mattress where they are harder to kill.

You also could just be allergic to something you've eaten. It could be an allergic reaction. If it is a bug bite you'll notice a small oozing type hole where the bite occured.

Good luck!

NPR recently ran a story about bed bugs and the poor woman who had them in her apartment building just couldn't get rid of them. She even put a few in a jar on her window sill to see how long they would live, and after 30 days there were thousands in the jar and they were all thriving without food or water, blech! We just returned from Disney, and I left all the luggage out in the garage and filled one laundry basket at a time and washed and dried it before I would bring in another load. I'm so paranoid about getting them. It only takes one. {{{shiver}}}

Good news - no bugs!!! Has to be from something outside, but I'm still totally creeped out now.
